Thanks for your help and support. I have been searching for a solution to this issue along with many, many people. I would urge anyone suffering issue with using SMS on a Sprint CDMA phone to contact Fernandez.

I emailed him and he was able to solve my SMS issue in real time. I dont know what he did, but literally after restoring my phone, going through the setup process I was able to send SMS and use Imessage and Face time all to my international telephone number in the United Arab Emirates.

The only Solution is to buy/download iOS 6.1 Beta Version. After upgrade, iphone 5 will be able to send SMS. (Before it will only send MMS with Subject ON when Mobile Data is ON).

Thanks for sharing info, Parthz8. I have sprint iphone 5 but I cannot activate it with local sim. It recognizes the network, gives me antenna and sign 3G. But I cannot activate it. I was wondering if 6.1 beta 3 would solve my problem. I have already downloaded the beta version.

I hardly think so, you need to talk to Sprint, the iphone is factory-locked, i had the same problem with one and i had to change the device... sorry

Hello, Make sure your iPhone5 is Unlocked. Even when you buy iPhone5 unlocked it comes with Sprint Nano Sim in it. Once you put other Carrier Sim it must work (Again only if your iPhone5 is UNLOCKED). Which country you are trying to switch Carrier?? You should be able to call, receive Call & receive SMS. Problem with Unlocked iPhone5 (with Sprint Nano Sim) was not sending SMS. Upgrading iOS 6 to 6.0.1 and contacting Apple didnt fix the issue for Sending SMS. Upgrading to iOS 6.1 Beta fixed the issue of Sending SMS. In your case make sure, your iPhone5 is Unlocked, Reset Network Setting or Reset iPhone5. If doesnt work try iOS 6.1 Beta.

As i said before i can remote fix the issue if you have the original sprint nano simcard no matter your IOS, processing time minutes.

if it is factory.locked, there is some services in internet that can be usefull, it cost around $100 USD or something like that... but i don't know if these services works or can fix your issue, sorry dude

the iphome simcard unlock service works only for the device to be able to accept other carrier simcard but not fix sms, there is another service in order to activate the sms and in some cases the facetime, imessage and mms function on the phone.

Is this a problem for iphone5 unlocked by sprint or is it affecting unlocked phones bought in apple store in Canada? I would like to buy an iphone here in Canada but i am not sure if i will have a problem when i move to asia.
