Paring Jam or Jam Plus to iPhone, etc.

I had this trouble with iPhone 5S; kinda wanted to pull my hair out. It appeared to be a little tricky. I tried most of the things described on this board, i.e., turning off the Jam and on again, etc. After looking at the electronics of signal it appears to be a simple fix.

1. The jam will only pair to one device as most of you know so, you must clear original device pairing. Take a paper clip and insert in the reset hole and hold about 5 seconds. Then, turn the jam speaker on and off twice. Make sure during this period you're not looking for it from you iPhone, iPad, etc. in bluetooth settings so, turn those off for now.

2. Next, turn on the Jam speaker and hold down for 5 seconds, i.e., power button on bottomof unit. Blue light will blink slowly.

3. Turn on bluetooth search on your device, i.e., iPhone, iPad, etc.

4. Press and hold the play/pause buttons and '+' volume at the same time until blue light begins flashing rapidly.

Your device should now show the Jam in the drop down menu.

If it does not connect in a about 5-7 seconds, tap the Jam link that appears in your window lightly.

You should be connected rather quickly. At least this process worked for me when all the others described did not. The bottom line is the blue light on the Jam needs to be blinking rapidly to pair and any previous device pairings need to be deleted from it before you ever begin.

Nothing will work. Updated to iOS 7.0.4, and does not work on iPhone 4S and iPhone 5!!!

I did everything and I have the Jam classic, but it also does not work on my HP Windows 7. It makes it chime sound coming on but on the iPhones I have on both detects it but does not pair, on my windows it does not detect it.

I saw it will work with AUX IN cord but really???? Is that why we got it? We got it for it's Bluetooth capabilities and does not pair with any of my iPhones, iPads, computers.

Thank you for the replys. It works great with the cord, but when I get off work I will call them to see if they might be able to exchange if they can't get it to pair. It was a gift so I can't return it to the store because the receipt was not saved.

Worth the money if I bought it, but as I see.... I think they should be careful before they make another one because it seems through out google, blogs, and through friends it seems everyone has a problem pairing it.

So I purcahsed one of these units and was able to immediately pair it with my iPhone 5S, however I was having issues connecting again so I deleted the device from my paired device list on the iPhone. Now, it seems to be impossible to get it to repair with any device (iPhone, iPad, MBP). The bluetooth light just stays lit red at all times. I've tried every button combination, power cycling, etc to no avail. I cannot locate any reset hole on mine, and my version has a power switch, not button. Any advice? This is SUPER frustruating as there is no documentation whatsoever on this issue. In fact, this is about the only thread I've found that even addresses this issue. Thanks!

If you are like me, you discarded the small manual.

To pair the newer JamPlus in stereo you must first pair the two speakers to EACH OTHER!

The reset is a tiny pinhole on the bottom and it is best to reset if you have been playing with them trying to pair them to your iPad/iPhone. Turn your iPad/iPhone bluetooth to "off" to be sure you don't accidently try to pair to your device.

Then set one of the two JamPlus speakers to L and the other to R on the bottom of the speakers. Turn them both on and hold down until there are TWO lights flashing fast on each one. They will make a metal drum sound when they are paired to each other. When they do, you then turn on the bluetooth pairing on your device. When they do pair, they will show up as Jam2 NOT JamPlus. If you have paired in JamPlus...you have paired only one of the two in MONO!

It is a tricky process but when you understand that the speakers have to be paired to each other in stereo mode first, and then you proceed to pair them to your device, you will be successful in stereo.

Unfortunately I only have one speaker, so pairing them to one another is impossible. I also don't have any reset hole whatsoever on the unit (unless it is covered with a label or other part). I've determined one way to SORT OF fix my problem. I had to leave the unit on until it completely ran out of batteries. Then, I charged it fully, unplugged it from power, and it was once again requesting a new BT pair. So, that's the only way that I've figured out my problem so far, hopefully someone comes up with a better solution but it at least works!

Cornelius, I am using the Jam Plus x 2...stereo. They look like a Jam Jar and there are various colors. Mine two are gold. There is a switch on the bottom center that you depress and the speaker comes on. There is a slide swithch to the side that allows you to switch from MONO (in the center) to L or R on either side. If you only have one, you may be talking about a different speaker. On the pair that I have immediately next to the slide switch is a tiny hole...just large enough for a paperclip. If you don't have this, and there should be no paper label over it, you should contact the company http://www.hmdxaudio.com/ You should be careful that NO other device in your area has blue tooth on. The way that I get my speakers to "re-pair" is to hold down the power button until BOTH of two lights flash fast. This then allows me to re-pair the speakers. I would imagine the same would be true with only one.

Hello all,

Thanks for all the replys. Guys, I bought this from Target and come back to Brasil and when I tested it doesn't work. I'm really frustrated. It's a JAM 1. Works ok, i see it in the bluetooth list, pair and the play/pause button works but it makes no sound, anyone sound. I think it's a JAM problem but go to the US to change it will be complicated

Have had someone the same issue ?
