Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 drivers for Mac

I just want to share this tip as I nearby dumped my ScanSnap S510 because it is not officially supported by Fujitsu for Mac computers / OS X. After a bit of research I found that the drivers and software for another ScanSnap model (S1500M) also work for S510 connected to a Mac. I use a current generation (2012 late model) updated with OS X 10.8.2. After downloading and installing the following two files, it works well with no error code after scanning. The files are:

Good luck.

Good to hear you can re-use the old gears. Just a quick update on the usage of the scanner after updating with the OSX compatible software from Fujitsu.

- I used to encounter scanner flashing light problems quite frequently when using the S510 with my Windows 7 PC. I have not had such issue once since the update.

- The driver & scanner software for Mac has been very stable. No crash so far after hundreds of pages scanned.

- I've owned many scanners: flatbed, photo, and all-in-ones, this scanner is the priciest but I am glad to took the plunge to buy it. With all the other scanners I owned, they would give me issues like eating up papers constantly, scanning with vertical lines, cumbersome scanning/saving workflow, slow scanning and poor integration with OCR software. I am glad these are in the past. I am gradually digitalizing the files in the steel cabinets. I hope to see all my previous paper files be scanned by end of year.

I am grateful for the tech achievement of Apple and Fujitsu. Both of whom make life easy like nobody else.

I thought this was going to work for me also but alas after waking from sleep I still get the blinking blue light.

This is on a 2007 Mac pro 1.1 with Lion 10.7.5.

It will work after a reboot but this is not much better than having to boot snow leopard where it still works fine.

I do get tired of company's that sell you stuff, especially a $400 scanner but won't keep up the drivers.

Just to let you know this also works for my old S500M.

I had been working happily with my unsupported scansnap software until the last IOS update, then crash!! No longer working and no support.

Thank you Alford. You have saved me £350 for a new scanner.

It does seem a pity that Fujitsu should be so shortsighted with loyal customers. I would have been happy if they told me that I was not supported but that the S1500 software should work. Great hardware and terrific performance allied with a long view for their customers is the best advert that they could have. Short sighted to make a few extra bucks and lose user satisfaction.

I was gifted an S510 (not the "M" model) by a friend and would like to get it running on Mac OS X Mavericks v.10.9.3. I tried your workaround for 10.8.2, but the installer app informed me that it could not be installed on "this computer". I understand that Fujitsu no longer supports this "older" model, but I was told it is still in good working condition. Any idea if there is a Mavericks compatible driver available anywhere???

Just a big THANK YOU... because I just got a new Mac with Yosemite pre-installed and I couldn't find the driver on Fujitsu's site.

Come to think of it, I used your advice over a year or so ago when I installed it on my Mavericks system, but neglected to thank you or even acknowledge that it worked in Mavericks.

So, for the record. I installed this on a new Mac running Yosemite and it works perfectly. So thanks again!

Thank you, thank you. This saved my Fujistu scanner from oblivion (or at least an awkward VM solution). Odd that the Fujitsu site listed other "compatible" drivers that were not.
