App updates not showing in App Store

Ever since I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 6, the App Store has not been showing updates properly. Periodically, it will show a badge indicating that there are updates for apps available. But when I open the App Store, I see this:

User uploaded file

If I tap on another tab, like Charts or Featured, and then come back to Updates, it still says all apps are up to date. I have to force quit the App Store app (double tap Home button, tap and hold on App Store icon then tap the minus sign, then hit the Home button again) and then open it again in order to see this:

User uploaded file

A similar thing also happens sometimes when there is no badge, but I decide to go in to the App Store to manually check for an update. It will show no badge on the Updates tab, and the main screen says all apps are up to date. But when I force quit App Store, and open it again, it will show updates are available.

Prior to iOS 6, we could tap on the Updates button and it would force a refresh and check for updates again. That no longer seems to be the case. That in addition to it intermittently or incorrectly showing updates makes it difficult to know if app updates are actually available.

Is this just my iPhone or is anyone else experiencing something similar? Either way, does anybody have a solution?

If the issue is with an iPad, try this workaround: Open App Store, look under "Purchased". Apps that are up to date will have an "Open" button, while apps with updates will have an "Update" button instead. It worked for me. However there is apparently no way to do this on an iPhone, as there is not a separate "Purchased" section (it loads under Updates, which I cannot get to show anything at all on either device).

This only started happening to me a couple of days ago but I note that it is now happening across multiple devices.

I've tried all of the suggestions above without any luck. One thing I do notice is that I get a short indication that the app is looking for the update data and then stops after two spins (for the want of a better description), displaying nothing. I need to get some sort of idea of what this problem is as I manage a fleet of 100 iphones and no doubt users will be asking questions before too much longer.

I've also tried forcing through iTunes but iTunes has become unstable on my pc since the recent update. Sigh...

I'm on iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.2. The phone only got turned on for the first time 3 days ago.

Having a similar problem woth my iPhone 4 on iOS 6.1. Except that it doesn't say no updates, the updates tab is completely blank. Even the purchased menu option isn't there. The app store badge is there though saying there are updates but i just can'y get them from the phone. The only way to update appe right now is to dowload them on itunes and sync the phone.

Whenever i open the store/updates tab, the internet usage symbol pops up in the status bar and vanishes but nothing shows up in the updates tab.

Have exactly the same issue (iPhone4S, iOS 6.1.2, Sweden), started suddenly feb 26, still ongoing. Update possible with iTunes and sync to iphone. But problem with blank page showing nothing on update tab remains.

I think it´s an iOS and/or an App-store problem..?? Nothing works for me to solv it. Not even standing on my head whisteling the national anthem 😉

Think it's for the best to lay back and relax to see if the issue fixes it self in time...
