I just purchased my 2012 mac mini andi'm suffering from the same problem. I connected my mac minii via HDMI to my Samsung 46" ES8000 and I have to say the picture and text quality is quite disappointing. I'm comparing this to my 2007 mac min ithat was connected via DVI and I have to say there is absolutely no comparison. No matter how much i try to calibrate it the colors are really over saturated, there is no good color depth, and the text quality is poor. I hope there is a way to fix it as I'm really relying on HDMI to connect as the new samsung dislplays don't have a DVI input.

I was about to buy a Mac Mini 2012 with the 2.6GHz upgrade and 1TB Fusion drive. Fortunately all these forum postings have made me hold off! I was planning on using both the T-Bolt and HMDI display out ports for two identical monitors. However it seems we have two issues, this blinking black/snow on the HDMI out and poor video quality on the HDMI out anyway (see other fora). It's a nightmare, but very little is mentioned in the tech press, bar the ARS Technica review (which couldn't replicate the issue) and Lockergnome.

Is there ANYONE out there with a 2012 Mac Mini that works perfectly on the HDMI out?

Is there ANYONE out there running two identical monitors on HDMI and T-Bolt without any comparative display differences?

Hello , I have a Mac Mini Late 2012 I7 connected to an AOC 2757M which have 2 HDMI inputs and 1 VGA input.

I have tried HDMI to DVI with no succes, and I have tried Minidisplay port to HDMI with no succes. Hence , the only solution to this blurry output is buying the thunderbolt display .

Or is there any update regarding INTEL HD4000 adapter?

This is not the quality i aspected to get from Apple, I am a new Apple user. Hope there will be an update soon.

I bought a Mac Mini yesterday after my faithful Power Mac G5 suddenly died. After hooking up the Mini to my Samsung HDTV monitor (which always brought me a fine quality together with the G5), I was simply shocked by the screen quality (fuzzy text, a blueish screen with no pure whites, frightening colors of photographs, etc. etc.). I was about to throw the Mini out of the window when I luckily happened to discover this discussion.

BUT I have MacOS 10.8.4 and the problem with the HDMI connection evidently is still persisting. Everybody in this thread has been talking about upgrades which were supposed to solve the problem - but that was last year and with OS 10.8.2. I have been using Macs for 25 years now and have never encountered such a bad image on any monitor screen. Please Apple, what is happening here and what can I do?.

I have NOT tried that yet.. I have dual monitors, and so my mini display/VGI adapter is being used in the Thunderbolt port.. but I suspect your advice might be just what I need. I'm going to run to the store and get a DVI cable and try the HDMI to DVI adapter and see!

This is what sold me on the mini in the first place (quote from Apple site):

This has certainly NOT been the case. I am so disappointed in Apple for this. Yes, there is an HDMI to DVI adapter included with my mini, but i REALLY wanted to use HDMI...as advertised.

On top of this, when I called about the issue they acted like they had never heard of it, and that I'd have to take my mini into the apple store for a fix. Really? One google search gave me so much feedback showing folks with the same issue it was actually funny.

I Have the same problem. When connecting mac mini (2012) with HDMI to LGIPS27 Monitor the picture quality is very bad. Do you thing that a DVI connection will solve the problem? Is there anyone who has the same LG Monitor?

Yes, this is a problem.

How do you then connect the DVI to the TV? I understand what you're saying about the HDMI to DVI working for you, but you're assuming I can then use DVI to feed my TV. First off, I don't have a DVI cable. Secondly, the only inputs I have for the TV are VGA or HDMI. Since the mini HDMI port is advertised as "connect to any HD television" I again say..."Yes, this is a problem."

Am I missing something?

I just called Apple. They were no help.

'Apple genious' suggested to buy a new TV with DVI-D input. What?!!!

My TV is currently connected to my MM using MDP-VGA adapter.

The screen quality is ok.

However I still wonder if using the cable that came with MM will provide better quality.

Has anyone done this test?

The ones who know aren't allowed to say, but typically it's around 60 - 90 days so 10.8.3 should be released in around 2 - 6 weeks, since it was seeded a little over a month ago.

Mac Mini 2012 is my first MAC. Bought in december. If i had seen these post before i would never have bought the mini. I have a 24" viewsonic monitor and connected using HDMI cable. Colors are so incorrectly displayed. I tried everything that you guys said but in vain.

Really relieved when i saw Fouad post.

Hope it really cures this disease else i will put it back in the box and return to good old PC.

Mac mini 2012 to Samsung 24"

Mini Display port to HDMI - the text resolution is poor. I have only HDMI and one VGA port on the screen.

I want to use the HDMI Port.

I bought the Mini 1 week ago (changed from PC)

Do the firmware update http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1616 resolve this issue?
