'Valid Apple ID but not an Icloud account

My iPhone 5 has recently been stolen and this message pops up when I try to go on iCloud and sign in. Help please

You can't create an iCloud account on a PC, you can create one on an iPhone, iPad or Mac. As you did not set the account (or Find my iPhone) up before you lost the phone it is not possible to track it now.

So is there anyway possible to get my phone back?

Look for it, call the police and call your insurance company (if it is insured) there is nothing else now.

I talked to people and they said the police have bigger problems than stolen phones right now, should I still try to contact them?

That is up to you, I doubt that they will be able to find it, but your insurance company will need a Police report.

3. Without any other iCloud device what use is a system that syncs iCloud devices to you, you can't sync any machine with itself.

- I, as a non apple user - cannot set up an account just to be able to see friends albums that they are trying to share with me via an apple shared photo stream

- and that kinda $ucks.

- You know, in the same way that an Ipod can't output video to a standard RCA jack without their proprietary cable that costs 6x what it should - kinda $ucks.

There are many alternative services that could be used, why not use them as you can't use iCloud?

I do - it's my apple using friends who don't!

I've narrowed it to the fact that at least apple will let my friends enable a web sharing aspect of that function - but if it's as user friendly as the rest of the experience, I'm doubting my apple friends (who tend not to be very computer savvy) will take the time to jump through 9 hoops just to share photos with me.

The whole thing just seems not well thought through. (like - why even bother with the icloud aspect - if you CAN make it web sharing/web enabled to begin with -...ahhhh cause then we can't control all 100%.. just 98%.. gotta get that last 2%...)

Sometimes apple seems to do things for no other reason than to watch the legion of apple users run around and bounce off of walls while they laugh histerically. It's rather frusterating.

Don't know what to tell you, if your friends can't figure out how to use Picasa they are out of luck.

If that's true then that's crazy. Like many other people have said in this forum, why not tell PC users this before we download iCloud. Apple owns iCloud so why not be compatible with themselves. To have an Apple ID and not be able to access iCloud without having an iPhone, an iPod touch, an iPad or a Mac is just ridiculous. Why even offer iCloud for PC users in the first place, unless this is just another strange and probably very unsuccessful way to get people to buy/use an iPhone, an iPod touch, an iPad or a Mac.

Step your MF game Apple!!! If little things really do count then it's things like this that frustrate potentially new Apple consumers and make them wan to stay PC users.

And I agree with SteveProgress, it's just another way of trying to make people buy Apple merchandise 😟 hence why I will always stick with Android/Windows and never give in to Apple...
