Good luck guys.
This is extremely helpful! I couldn't figure it out and was getting very frustrated. I wondered if it was somehow related to whether or not the PC comes pre-installed with Windows 8 or whether it was because I went with the discounted W8 Upgrade deal
YESYESYESYES!!!!!!!
FINALLY!
***?
Thank you!!!
I have tried every help post on this thread and I still can't get itunes to install on my windows 8 surface RT. Everything all results in the horrid green bar telling me I need to use the microsoft store to find the app and of course itunes is not available through there. I am so completely frustrated at this point so if anyone else has any possible solutions I need them.
Windows RT will not run itunes. You need the surface pro that supports desktop apps.
I had the same problem, I installed the MSI with windows 7 compatibility mode running windows 8 pro x64 and so far everything is good
I installed itunes with the setup in windows 7 compatability mode and itunes opens but as soon as it does it still says theres an error occured and it has to close... has anyone else had it not work still?
I was having the same problem and ur way is the best!
How did you make it work? Apple support couldnt help me
this is exactly what mine do to, ive been searchn for a answer everywhere but cant find a solution
Your a genius!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!
I had this problem for a couple of weeks at least, could not work out what to do. It just didn't download from the download tab. Finally, I went to support and somehow found a download page (Apple is monumentally anti-user friendly as far as being able to work any of this out), and somehow stumbled on support.apple.com/downloads/, downloaded iTunes 11.1.4 (64-bit) from there, and it worked from there! Don't know if it was coincidence, but worth a try. I had also disabled pop-ups; not sure if that helped or not, since it made no difference when I was stil trying to download from a normal apple download tab. Good luck.
I deleted bonjuor, itunes& apple support in my add/removed programs, rooboted pc & reload itunes as administrator fro downloads .It worked& loaded fine.Good Luck!!
The same is happening with me! Just purchased new computer, downloaded Itunes and nothing! Will not even recognize my Iphone! Tried running it on a different compatibility as suggested, and still nothing. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, tried changing the compatibility to Windows 7, Windows XP, everything AND NOTHING! NOT VERY HAPPY SO FAR WITH WINDOWS 8!
I'm running Windows 8 professional 32-bits, without the windows 8 media center. I had no problems downloading, or installing. For those having troubles downloading, try a different browser, like Google Chrome (in desktop mode) Google chrome automatically saves the file, instead of trying to run it for you.
Also demanding that Windows 8 users install a paid upgrade to windows media center 8 in order to use itunes is bad form. Windows programs should work with all versions of any windows operating system that they are compatible with, without requiring an extra paid feature. Not all of us have the money required to perform such upgrades. I know I certainly don't.
If you are running windows 8, you should not need to install, or upgrade to any new versions. 32-bit users, simply download the installer, and run it as-is. That should install it perfectly fine. 64-bit users, simply download, and run the 64-bit installer, and it should work fine. Windows 8 Media Center is *not* required to install, or use iTunes.
I have Windoes 8.1 Pro and I'm sorry but you are incorrect. iTunes does not open in Windows 8.1. It installs fine but does not open.
