I'm an apple fan for life however a new development at the android camp has me going WOW. It's an app that was developed. Tell me what you think about "Ingress" created for android, and why can't we do one better.

iPhone, iOS 6.0.1

Have you looked? That appears to be just an augmented reality game. There are plenty of those: http://techsplurge.com/2130/10-awesome-augmented-reality-games-iphone/

You have to remember there is no innovation in the Android camp. Like Linux itself, everything they do is just a cheap copy of the real thing,

Thanks for the info.

You have to admit, it was a logical assumption for the uninformed (me) when his link takes you to github. On that note, that was the purpose for my asking, I have no intention of jailbreaking and wanted to make sure. Now that i know how its done, maybe ill learn some code...

Also, sorry i am not up to date on the latest version of the terms of usage. iPhones didnt even exist when i started my forum account.

Grow up guys. People are tired of the Apple vs. Google (Android) wars. It would be nice to have a polite response to the OP, instead of the condescending and smart *** responses, sprinkled with Google attacks.

Ingress is a great game. Kudos to Google & Niantic for developing a fun game. And who cares if it is a lot like Shadow Cities? How many first person shooters are there? How many Age of Empire Clones are out there? Or Mortal Kombat-like games? Games are mimicked all of the time.

****, iOS7 ripped off a ton of Android features. It happens. Everyone does it...ESPECIALLY Apple. Quit living in a bubble.

I had never heard of Shadow Cities...but it looks really cool. But then again, it's only cool if people are playing it...no fun playing the game alone. Is anyone playing it? I know a lot of people are playing Ingress.

There was anti-Google BS and there was utter rudeness and condescending comments.

You were guilty of being rude and condescending...and...+entresoft was guilty of the other (both really). I lumped you both in...just didn't specify who did what.

What's stopping you?

The OP asked for comments and got them.

Awful?

You don't know the start of it.

Besides, discussions such as these are akin to speculatiing which is a no-no per the TOU.

Nothing wrong with my facts. Straight as an arrow.

Why are you so angry @etresoft?

Apple has some cool technology and games, and so does Google. People like Ingress and they are playing it. I have both pieces of technology, and I have to say that Apple is not as innovative as it used to be, Google has overtaken them here. Google has also done a good job building an audience, and it looks like Apple is now the one trying to copy with low end phones, 3d mapping and traffic conditions. Not much innovation there.

I don't like it when ancient threads keep getting resurrected for pointless commentary. This is a user to user support forum for Apple products. If you have a question about Apple products, or Apple developer products, for this specific forum, I would be happy to respond. The Apple Support Communities Terms of Use specifically forbid discussion about Apple's policies. That is because such discussions aways devolve into rant threads.

Apple has some cool technology and games, and so does Google.

Actually, Apple has no games whatsoever. Apple provides many frameworks that support 3rd party developers writing games and other apps. But Apple itself makes no games and very few apps. If you ask most iWorks customers these days, they probably wish Apple made even fewer apps.

People like games of all kinds.

You are comparing different things. Google does something very well, better than Apple. Apple does other things very well, better than Google.

Apple's cheapest phone is $450. Since when was that low-end? Apple has a vested interest in having modern services available on its products. When Google started charging developers to use its mapping services, Apple realized that those services would be in jeopardy because developers would be under the control of Google. They would have to pay Google to have apps on Apple devices. Google would have the final say on what services could be on Apple devices because it wanted to reserve the best services for its own platform.

Apple has never been the #1 bestest innovator in technology. Apple is the best innovator of customer interaction with technology. People are generally given PCs and Android devices and are forced to use them. People spend their own money for Apple devices.
