indeed, glad i'm not the only one who has realized this. this computer's main function is to run pro tools and produce music also. i was running lion for a while and everything just felt slow, after a few months of that i decided my computer needed to be upgraded. but i couldn't help feeling like i remembered it being really great on snow leopard. so i backed up, reinstalled snow leopard, popped in some extra memory i had just for good measure and sure as anything snow leopard is blazingly faster than lion. it is indeed sad, i have nothing bad to say about snow leopard. it supports ppc apps and still can do 64bit. it's truly the peak of OSX. i doubt there will ever be another/better version of it, while that's sort of disheartening, i just have to remember that upgrading isn't always a good thing. a TON of software vendors for audio products, avid-protools included don't have their products up to lion/mountain lion fully anyway and my workflow is a lot smoother with SL.
apple would be best to realize that moving OSX towards iOS is a BAD move. though they haven't seemingly gotten to that conclusion yet. oh well i'm pretty happy with snow leopard. apple has joined the ranks of bunking their desktop os though. lion and mountain lion are comparable upgrades to vista/windows 7. most of my windows friends are still swearing by XP.
dear apple, bloat=bad.
Bring back coverflow!
Totaly unbefrigginleavable... Apple admit it, say your sorry, say a couple of Oopps, we didn't mean to leave it out, and release iTunes 11.01 with cover flow restored. I find it unreal, that this idea made it to production. Was everyone else off that day ?, did someone forget to the cc the beta testers ?... This needs to be patched back asap. Restore our faith in you, by restoring our beloved cover flow.
Yeah, any lag when flipping is hardware. I got a basic HP Pavilion w/4MB cache and 6GB memory back in '10, both pretty minimal specs now, and I never have lag - and I 'flip' a lot. It's a fast as shuffling cards on mine.
Coverflow was originally a very cool 3rd party app. Apple bought and incorporated it into iTunes. Now they dump it so we can search through bunch of small pictures of album covers like they were apps on an iPhone. Unbelievable! The interface is the whole experience. Looking at a wall of postage stamps is NOT elegant. Get it together Apple.
Yeah,
Apple now thinks less is more. At this rate there will be just one button on Itunes..."Give us all your MONEY!"
Apple needs to test these horid changes with the public before dumping it on us. At this rate I will be buying a driod phone since Itunes is one of the reasons to buy a IPhone. Another step backwards in design and logic. A big step forward in lazyness and mainstream mediocrity. I and thousands of others will also be taking a step backward to 10.7
Is anybody in control at Apple? Jobs should fire Cook from the grave!
Without Cover Flow I will buy no longer a piece of music in the iTunes Store. Hope that shows my customer protest to bring this feature back.
The whole thing is a clusterf**king downgrade from one of the best music players there was in my opinion. i hope they are reading some of these complaints at apple and decide to make it possible to get back some of the cool features that are now gone!
They want to make everything like using an iphone and ipad which is a hugh mistake for the mac users.
We should all apologize to Apple for wanting features and options to play, organize and experience our music collections. The cool thing is if you click on a blue album cover it could expand into a list of songs that ALSO have a BLUE background ...so freaking cool.😐 I guess we will all have to deal with our own poor personal music experiences until Apple decides we are all to dumb to even use a computer.😕
I CONVERTED 600 + GB OF MOVIES Only to see them in wide-screen COVERFLOW in iTunes a month ago AND NOW APPLE REMOVE IT????
It was the only thing different from any other music/video player, you could show your entire music-movie library to your friends being proud of your organization, and choosing a movie has never been so fun. I HATE YOU APPLE.
I NEED COVERFLOW, PLEASE BRING IT BACK.!! 😠 😠 😠
Bad, bad, bad decission.
Developers can think "cover flow" is not the next thing they want (fair enough) but what's the point taking away something 1000's (or more) like. I defenietly did, and Im quite dissaponted.
I love my Mac and I loved to see my Cover Flow view on my very much loved 27" while I was having a glass of wine in the next room. We, middle age gay men (best supperters of Apple, thank you very much) deserve that comfort it gave us!
Please include Cover Flow in the next update!
Thank you Peter, and for this blog. I started a page on Facebook for the same purpose: https://www.facebook.com/BringBackCoverFlowtoiTunes11
Just wanted to add that the best feature of iTunes was Cover Flow. There is not a better way to play your jukebox of music. Just let it roll.
Version11 seems to think we are forever doing things on iTunes rather than playing the music.

What makes you think a Facebook petition will even be seen by Apple? Send your complaints to their feedback:

They do read this, though you won't get a response. Having a lot of people complain to this address is the way to get something done.
Apple are really beginning to goof up big time ... If I wanted my MacBook to be an iPhone ... I'd buy an iPhone. I'm still running OSX 10.6.8 and will be sticking to iTunes 10.7. It's my opinion that these offer the best environment for me.
The loss of 'Now Playing' album artwork window and the loss of coverflow means that I cannot upgrate iTunes any further. Even in iTunes 10.7 artwork is not handled correctly - artwork should be handled at track level not album level.
In fact the while concept of an 'Album' is a bit redundant to me - I listen to playlists almost exclusively and almost always in shuffle mode. Haven't listened to a Album straight through for over 4 years!
Although I've not used it - it seems Apple is turning iTunes into a 'media marketing app' with little thought other than how to entice you to purchase more music. If I want to purchase more music I'll go to the store - but please don't bother me when I'm home.
