"it seems Apple is turning iTunes into a 'media marketing app' with little thought other than how to entice you to purchase more music. If I want to purchase more music I'll go to the store - but please don't bother me when I'm home."
+1 to that...
iTunes with no Cover Flow.
What the **** Apple, what the **** ??! 😠
Feedback send.

I can't understand why key features are removed from iTunes and this is not advertised in Software Update so one would be aware not to update.
Guys at Apple, please reconsider your decision! We want cover flow back!
It's so they can say at the next keynote they can say there were 1 billion itunes 11 downloads. its all marketing strategy to make it seem better than it is. If they told you what features they were taking AWAY, then the download count wouldn't be as inflated as they like and they'd have to admit to making a mistake. just my opinion.
If I knew the scap I get with iTunes11 I would never ever install it on my machine. But I didn't and my iTunes DJ is gone as well as my CoverFlow. What a pitty.
+1 BRING BACK COVERFLOW.
I used to love Appe, I'm a satisfied mac user since early OS9. Lately I'm losing hope, first I thought a dip was acceptable, but it appears to be a downhill slope trend, which is sad.
I have also decided to stay with 10.6.8 SL, and iTunes 10.7. Okay for now, but very sad to know there are no worthy alternatives to the superior Snow Leopard OS for the future. And very discomforting to know that Apple seems to have decided they only support the latest two operating systems.
I had Mountain Lion for 2 weeks when I ordered the latest Mac Mini. Returned it for a refund, because of severe widespread GPU (HDMI) issues, with deafening silence from Apple. After more than 2 months, still no official acknowledgement. Faulty mac minis are still shipped today, knowing they have the issue.
Still running Snow Leopard on MBP, and I must say there was nothing in Mountain Lion I liked better than SL. On the contrary. Spaces and expose I liked better than Mission Control. And the stupid reversed scrolling of the trackpad to "natural" mode which makes sense on a touch screen but feels unnatural on a trackpad. okay, found out quickly you can reverse it again in prefs, but still. Nothing mentioned about that during initial setup.
Simplification and irreversable changes of multi gestures between 3/4 fingers disrupting my workflow.
And the bloatware... horrible! +1 on that too.
Interesting article about the "Skeuomorphism" brought from iOS to Lion/ML here:
http://mac.appstorm.net/general/opinion/the-future-for-apple-human-interface-des ign/
but I'm going totally off-topic, just wanted to underline the general deterioration... - Back to iTunes:
Apple gave up on multiple artwork a few iTunes versions ago (10.5.1), which is also a major bummer for all the users who put years and years work into this, scanning/downloading the artwork and adding valuable booklet info. The feature will never come back I guess. Apple decided to give this all up, to simplify things for iTunes Match and iCloud. If only these would work properly. I read everywhere that these are a disaster too. Headaches.
And then the apple maps flop... it doesn't stop. What's next?
A bug here and there with new releases is acceptable to me, if the fixing time frame isn't too long. That's normal.
But removing one useful feature after the other, dumbing things down, is unforgivable imo. Shipping faulty units with a known major issue is just plain wrong.
And I don't want my Mac OS to be like iOS either. iOS might work well on iDevices with touchscreens, ok they want more integration, but not at cost of usability.
"Apple, it just works" - when you see this sentence used nowadays, it's mostly in a cynical way.
I really hope they realise it soon.
Sorry If my post is too long... i'm really upset by all these serial failures. I'm seeing myself studying some Linux based open source OS in the future. Which will cost me a lot of time. And will still not be anything like Snow Leopard...
+1 to everything you said. Especially the merging of iOS and MacOS. iOS should only be for portable, mobile devices and the "stronger" MacOS for desktops/laptops. just another 2 cents from me.
I am keeping Snow Lep also.... It will be the last apple OS I will ever own. Every thing since 10.6 is JUNK. I used to love apple, I brought many of my friends to apple, now we all hate it and I feel like even more of a idiot. LoL. I think apple will continue down the same path and will lose customers. Android has over-taken the iPhones. Top-end Android devices, Galaxy, nexus and a few other are far more advanced and secure than iOS aka apple/iPad.
Bring back cover flow, Apple!!!
You are becoming like MS!
Yucky..
Super well said!! I'm starting to learn Linux as well and going back to snow Leopard!!
Sorry, Apple..
;-(
As far as I'm concerned, this new version is COMPLETE CRAP without cover flow. What the *&%# is Apple thinking?!?!
Yikes, didn't realize Cover Flow was removed in 11 - Surprise!
I know that there are time that you have to move your customer base forward with changes and updates. Yet Cover Flow could have easily been something turned off by default.
Sure was annoying trying to just get the Side Bar to show up the first time.
The initial installed update view really was like stepping backwards in time, took me more time trying to configure a view that I could easily navigate all the music, videos, devices, etc. than to actually install the update.
Hopefully the person coming in to replace Forestall knows how to relentlessly ensure dumb decisions like this from happening.
Just annoying without Coverflow. I just downgraded back to previous iTunes version and turned off software-upgrade at iTunes-preferences.
Until now I trusted somehow Apple and did keep all applications up-to-date. But now I will not anymore update my Apple-Applications without waiting and reading before some comments in the internet.
I don't understand why such a feature has to be removed against an uggly interface. iTunes 11 is even not simplifying the organization of my music...
Until Coverflow will not be returned into iTunes, I will stay at the 10.7 version!
