I've already contacted support about this, so I'm only commenting here to add strength to the numbers. Absolutely ridiculous that Jobs has been dead for less than a year, and the idiots in Cupertino have made numerous mistakes hurting the company, iMaps and this lateste fiasco with cover flow being two of the worst. Oh yeah, and firing the one guy who thought like Jobs did that icons should be representational of real life objects. There's a reason they call it simulacrum.
Anyway, I was debating whether to purchase an ipad mini or a Nexus 7 this Christmas. This ridiculous iTunes fiasco has made the decision for me. Hopefully, they have not gone braindead over at Google.
After the update to iTunes 11 I was desperately searching Cover Flow. Again and again, I was searching and searching everywhere. I simply could not imagine that it was removed. Folks at Apple: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??? It was such a nice feature. It was intruduced by Steve Jobs, if I remember correctly and everybody was impressed. Very sad. I'm really disappointed about Apple software design group who are responsible for this.
Please Apple, bring it back!!!
For those who wish to revert to 10.7
This should work:

(Tip by Michael Teel in another thread)
you may have to Option Launch iTunes 10.7 and then locate your Previous Version Library for it to run successfully as iTunes 11 recreates your old Library. Fortunately, it also saves your old Libary in a Previous Version folder.
Bring back the Cover Flow NOW! Really people we start to notice that sadly Jobs is dead... he NEVER would allow to remove the CoverFlow and you know I am right.
It is obvious that Apple concept was only in his mind, that is the reason that Apple was nearly to disappear when Jobs was dismissed in he past. Seems that you never learned anything working with him, because removing the CoverFlow is only the first of long list of stupid things you will do from now and forward in the future without a clever mind showing you the right way. If you want to be hated like Microsoft has been, you are doing right now, this is my opinion and I am sure I am not alone in the world.
Trying to resemble the look and operation of your computers to the iPad is a very stupid thing, a computer is not an iPad tablet, it is a computer. Better focus again in the professional sector that you forget it exists and don't invest your time in removing good things just to resemble the look of a tablet OS.
Excuse my english because it is not my native language.
Feedback left. Thank you for the link. I'm severely dissapointed in the new iTunes.
HEY ATTN: APPLE DUDES WHO GET PAID A LOT OF MONEY TO IMPROVE SOFTWARE..!
1/ What happened to multi device continuity? I can cover flow on my iphone, ipad but not in itunes anymore??
2/ Where did cover flow view go?
3/ The new iTunes 11 GUI *****!! (Yes thats right its really that bad) Please fix it ASAP and bring my cover flow back
Until then I now have to uninstall itunes 11 and download and install itunes 10 again.. HASSLE...
C'Mon people you guys are suposed to be making things better not taking steps backward..
Wow this thread has gotten big!
Everyone remember to let Apple know what you think. This is the only hope of getting Cover Flow back!
Just posting here to add myself to the fold- extremely disappointed in the bland, white interface that is iTunes 11. iTunes pre-11 looked like a professional application. iTunes 11 looks like a third-rate piece of shareware. I loved CoverFlow, and can only hope that our numbers convince Apple to bring it back. Keep the faith, folks!
I gotta admit when I first saw Cover Flow I thought to my self "What a load of crap!"
But as I found myself using it more and more it really became a valuable tool for me to organize playlists and winnow out my library.
The unusual thing about this particular thread is that, although the original post's title is fairly non-partisan, almost 100% of the posts have been negative about Apple's decsion to remove Cover Flow. I count only two replies that even halfheartedly support Apple's position. None of the threads complaining about previous software "downgrades" (e.g. Snow Leopard to Lion, etc.) have ever been this unanimous. One would hope Apple would pay attention to that. (But don't hold your breath).
My advice to Apple:
1. Bring it back.
2. Eat some crow (it'll be good for you).
Now excuse me, I have some stock to unload.
Dear Apple,
Bring back Cover Flow. Thanks...
Sincerely,
One Unhappy customer of MANY
I'm really going to miss cover flow. I used it a lot.
Here's an alternative (in iTunes 11, no less):
Click on the art work you see at the play window at the top of your main iTunes window. This will enlarge the artwork in a new window. That window is resizable - click the green Maximize button, and it can fill your whole screen. Hover your mouse over it - the iTunes controls show up.
Now, if you don't want the main iTunes window open, you can:
1. Close it completely
2. Minimize it into your dock
3. Switch to the mimiplayer
So we CAN still see the artwork of what's playing, and it can now be bigger than it was in Cover Flow. Kinda nice.
I still liked Cover Flow for browsing, and have responded to Apple to bring it back, but frankly I like it more as a novelty, since I have to admit that browsing with the Artist List or Grid views is actually more effective.
So I wouldn't call this a "big screwup" or "awful decision" myself. This new format certainly should be more obvious, though.
Hopefully this option helps some of the discontented ount there.
I really like cover flow, looked nice, made it easy to use when wanting to flick through albums quickly, and on a big TV screen with the Apple remote, it was so nice to use. Now it is just one big list of music, why Apple why? you are meant to improve things not go back, its like if they were to take the cameras of the iPod touch and say its better, because it isn't. Sort it out, bring it back in the next update
Very disappointed about lack of coverflow.
Please send Apple some feedback if you feel the same way.
