List of iTunes 11 Problems That Need Fixing

iTunes 11, in my humble opinion, has been an utter disaster. A casual glance of the feedback from day 1 demonstrates this. For the sake of clarity and organizational unity, I thought it would be useful to have a running list of problems that need to be addressed, as all software are works in progress. Here we go. Please add your own.

1. No iTunes DJ. No reason to get rid of this.

2. No Artwork Cover Flow

3. Problems playing video files.

4. No Duplicate listing.

I have my iTunes library duplicated on a Mini just because i'm obsessive. After going to 11 on one machine I noticed the total count and size now differs considerably between the itunes 11 version and the 10.x on the mini. The new is showing hundreds more "items". Anyone know why that would be the case, is it adding something the older version did not? Too many songs to stare and compare.

Some things I saw that really bother me (some were likely mentioned here already):

- loss of Show Duplicates

- loss of convert AAC format to MP3

- Get Info no longer allows you to suppress gap between songs (maybe it is done automatically now)

- The new Search field in the upper right hand corner is unintuitive. If you want to search for a combination of an artist and song (i.e.: "Stones Sympathy") it says "No Results" instead of finding "Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil". They completey screwed up the fast searching I am used to.

- Albums view shows only in one view that has the pictures of the albums. Except in my case, I purposely have no album art, so I just have a bunch of useless empty boxes and no way to change the Album view.

- Also, I don't know if this is related or just coincidental, but my iPod Classic 7 160GB started acting odd soon after I started using iTunes 11. The iPod will intermittently reboot itself when I try to play a song or podcast. It can be maddening because once it starts, it won't stop. I read it could be a bad hard drive caused by dropping it, but I have not dropped the iPod in a long time, so why it it suddenly start doing this now?

iTunes 11.0.1 displays sort order for a shuffled playlist in the order in which songs are added, not the order in which songs will be played.

User uploaded file

Above the playlist is in shuffle mode, and the field for song number is selected, yet the playlist is showing a the song list in the date that they were added to iTunes, not the order in which the songs will play. Not an issue in iTunes 10.

Other than previously posted issue of shuffle button not working, the other significant issue is the Search feature in the top right corner of the ITunes Store screen does not work. Enter something in Search, hit return, and all I get is a white screen. Have followed other posters/ITunes Customer support directions and removed and reinstalled ITunes 11.0.1 multiple times, updated JAVA script, updated WindowsXP, opened firewalls, disengaged internet and reconnected, no joy.

You can no longer view and export playlists in shuffled order. Sure, you can see the shuffled sequence of 20 songs in the clunky What's Next pop-up window. Not much help with a 1500 song playlist, and you cannot save the entire shuffled sequence as a new playlist. Apple should be adding new, innovative features, not taking things away. And the overall redesign is not nearly as user-friendly as the previous version. Bad Apple.
