Ipad charger exploded whilst my kid was using it

This is an Apple user to user forum. Apple doesn't read or respond.

If you donj't report it to Apple, thay have no way to know of the failure. Take it/pictures to an Apple store, or send a letter to Apple.

This happened to me the other day, sounded like a large ballon bursting but left a large burn mark around the plug and the charger itself blew open. Purchased from amazon, contacted their seller & he is refusing to deal with me until I leave a positive feedback, as if that is now going to happen, raised a product & bullying complaint.

This is almost certainly not a genuine Apple charging adapter. Nearly all adapters sold on Amazon Marketplace or eBay are counterfeit, fraudulently labeled, and not safe to use.

It is difficult to determine counterfeit adapters from an exterior inspection, and an interior inspection destroys the adapter.

Take it to Apple. They will probably confirm that it is counterfeit.

Where did you buy it from, I got mine from Amazon & on closer inspection was a counterfeit product. I got my money back but Amazon kicked my product review for saying it was a not a genuine product. Will not use Amazon again.

I believe there have been at least one previous posting on these forums about an Apple charger that sparked and failed. It is definitely not a common problem or there would have been many such reports.

Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your charger examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

If the charger was defective it should be replaced.

Rather than waste time taking and posting pictures, take everything to your nearest Apple Store so they can deal with the problem.

Called Apple today, I don't have an Apple store near enough to me, they are investigating and want the pictures I took. They asked ALOT of questions, which I'm sure will help them determine the cause.

That's good to hear, I hope you get the problem resolved. Being that this is a user to user forum in matters like chargers catching fire there is little we can to do but hopefully point you in the right direction.

So just had my iPhone charger blow up while trying to insert it in the wall

Gave me an electric shock

Caused me to throw the phone against a wall

Made a loud popping bang sound

Scared the bajesus out of me and my son

All genuine apple products

So, make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.

Mine has just blown, massive pop and the outer case blew away from the backing. Left the pins in the wall. Genuine charger, came with iPhone5c a few months back.

Must be an English thing, cause my iPad's charger is quite different. Shown below with the "duck's bill" adapter removed and inside the loop of my Mac's NEMA cable adapter.
