Intel and CS2

I am having a problem installing a legit copy of Adobe CS2 on my iMac. The installation seems to run very fast (too fast), but when I go into my applications folder, no adobe apps can be found. I have tried running the installer multiple times and have managed to correctly install bridge and photoshop once, but nothing else. I am sure it is a full version and that it is a mac version. any help would be appreciated.
thank you

"EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING"

Cheer up, it hardly seems like the end of the world. What, no work around? Can you not reinstall Photoshop after the 10.4.6 update? [typical solution when an app stops working]

I suppose if that wouldn't work for you, you can reinstall your original 10.4.4 system and only update it to 10.4.5, plus add the security updates and anything else that won't conflict with Photoshop.

Spent this morning on my third "archive and install" in two weeks. Add me to the list of disgruntled CS2 users.

So just to make certain, if you want to run CS2:
Don't install Version Cue
Don't update Quicktime
Don't run Security updates
Don't update past 10.4.5

Am I missing anything? I really don't want to have to manually uninstall/reinstall this again.

After hearing all the problems with CS2 and the Intels I was dreading working on our new G5, but to be honest it's not too bad! It's painfully slow opening up Photoshop, but CS2 then runs all day without trouble, and I haven't had any major probs with it. I don't use Version Cue anyway but I'll stay away from it from what people say here, and won't update it from 10.4.5 until I hear it's OK. Haven't had any probs with Safari or other supposedly problem apps either!

Quark have managed to get their behinds into gear and make XPress 7 Universal, so why Adobe haven't done it with CS2 - knowing the backlash they would get - is beyond me. But Adobe also know that almost every pro uses Photoshop, and it's not like we can switch to anything else, so they're not in any danger - yet. Any major probs with CS3 and they'll find themselves with a diminishing market share faster than they can say it.

If you truely have a G5, then you are over-reacting to bad information. TheG5s and Intels are two totally different machines. The CS2 software was written for the G5 and is optimized on the G5. It was not written for the Intel chips and has some problems running in emulation. Version Cueworks fine on the G5s.
You need to go to the G5 Discussions if you want accurate info about the machine you have and the software you have, because what is said here does not apply to your machine!

Peeps,

I just updated my 17" iMac Intel with the latest iWeb and Quicktime updates (released today) via Software update. I have read all of the issues in the relevant forums regarding Adobe CS2 and innabilities to install following updates prior to these latest ones.

After updating my iMac I installed Adobe CS2 (minus the Version Cue element and Acrobat Professional) and the installation went very smoothly without any hiccups. I have downloaded and installed the relevant updates from Adobe and everything is working beautifully.

Whatever the issues were it appears that these latest updates from Apple have sorted them (I suspect the culprit was the Quicktime update prior to this latest one).

Wow, everyone having problems with their new Intel iMacs including me. Wish the salesperson at the apple store told me there were issues like this. I would have bought the G5. Instead i was told the CS2 will run with a "little lag". This is not little. Bridge quits occasionally when opening some psd, jpegs, tiffs, Version Cue can't be installed? Boy did i buy a lemon... funny though, i thought it was an apple. My G4 ran these apps better. Now what am i to do. All these suggestions for "work arounds" (I shouldn't have to look for a work around on a new machine!) , pathces, and recomendations to not do security updates....

Shame apple, you ripped me off. I will be returning my iMac soon.

Red Dwarf, good for you. At least someone is getting this iMac intel to work. I unfortunately, could not and have exchanged the iMac for a G5 tower. There were just too many issues with too many problems and the lag issue with CS running on roseta well, that's unacceptable on a brand new machine. Sure i could upgrade to 2gigs of ram but that's a joke... because CS2 ran quicker on my G4 that was bought in 2000 with only 533Mhz and 768Ram.

What makes things worse, and this is what really caused my head to spin like in the Excorcist, when returning my iMac I was told they wouldn't refund my RAM upgrade (i upgraded the iMac upon the recomendation of the salesperson from 512 to 1gig). And the manager refused to even hear my side of the story which in a nutshell is... i was told that there would be a "little lag" running adobe cs2 and was told that a Ram upgrade would help. To make a long story longer, I wasn't told that i wouldn't be able to install things like Version Cue and that Acrobat would be unstable and that Bridge would unexpectadly quit. Had i been told that, and had the salesperson been more knowledgable, I wouldn't have bought the iMac in the first place. And now the store refused to refund the Ram upgrade, so after a week of trying to get that iMac to work, wasting time on hold with Apple and Adobe, missing deadlines with clients, and having my reputation and recomendations from those clients tarnished, i now get stuck with a $100 ram upgrade for an iMac (that i don't own anymore because i'm on a G5 now) NOT TO MENTION, that i didn't even get that RAM back and probably wouldn't have gotten it had i not went back to the store and asked why i didn't get the refund for Ram or at least get the Ram card itself back.

I understand business is business. I run my own business... but there is a thing called fairness and I am not getting that from apple right now. If this were my mistake, i'd live with it. But i shouldn't have to pay for poorly trained sales people and unresponsive store managers.

Red Dwarf, if your machine is running well, use the heck out of it until your first two trial weeks are up, because if any problems after that, not even Moses himself would be able to get able to part with the money you payed them. I should also mention, that the restocking fee (10% in US Apple Stores) was only waved when i mentioned that i would like to purchase a G5 after returning the iMac. Come on, fair is fair. Apple rolls out the red carpet when it comes to sales... but where's the honor when they make a mistake.

Just sharing my past week and a half of **** so others won't go through the same... Designers, Illustrators and Artists, if you need a computer do your and iMac intel may not do what you want. Stick with the Power Macs.

Good luck to all!

My Intel iMac runs CS2 VERY very slowly and will crash if PDF's launch through Acrobat instead of Preview.

I found out that if you install the latest Security Updates then Photoshop CS2 will fail too.

I've re-installed the OS X 10.4.6, re-installed CS2 and am avoiding any security updates until (pray pray pray) CS3 comes out for Intel chip iMacs.

I think many of the problems people are experiencing running Adobe products under Rosetta with the intel iMac are due too insuffiecient or defective ram. I can run any of the products from the Adobe CS2 Suite with no problems or crashes (2 gigs of Apple installed ram). Photoshop runs as fast as it did on my P4 3 Ghz PC with 1 gig of ram. There is no problem running Acrobat either. The only program that is incompatible is Version Cue. If you installed it get rid of it and perhaps your problems will go away. I have all of the latest OSX 10.47 updates installed, including the latest security update.
