iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

I'm having battery issues as well with 6.1.3. Seems like same issue from two maintenance releases ago as I'm also having problems accessing Outlook on two separate servers from my iPhone 4S. Outlook problem was coupled to battery issue (was that 6.1.1 release?). No problems from my iPad2 running 6.1.2.

This iOS 6.1.3 issue is a real pain because it is not enabling me to get work email in the field.

Just something that I realized since i have upgraded to 6.1.3. When i go to settings and check the battery use, it says that the standby and the utilisation time are the same. Maybe the problem the batterey drainage comes from here. The iPhone is never in standy mode and even if the screen is black, the system is still running. I didn't have that before. I tried a reboot but it didn't change anything. Are you facing the same problem?

It's draining about 1% every 7 minutes but that's with the phone not in use. In contrast, last week before the update I would charge my phone at night (and on a day without use) it would still be around 99% when I arrived home from work (roughly 12 hours later). Now my phone is dead before I even get home. This may be an odd issue affecting only a handful of people, but it is clearly real and needs a solution.

i have both iphone4 and itouch, both would run for up to 4 days or more in standby on 6.1.2.

with a few calls a day and running a few apps, maybe recharge every 2 days or so.

immediately after 6.1.3 both devices are using 1.8% of the battery per MINUTE.

the battery is dead on 3 hours.

i'm did a restore and reset on the iphone and am waiting for it to restore

on the itouch i only did a reset and am monitoring the battery .

i guess last resort will be the above advice, let them run completely down.

I tried the same thing and its a bit better now.I disabled 80% of all notifictions and put off a lot of other thingsI completely drained out the battery and will charge it to 100% and see if that helps.

I have the same 6.1.2/3 battery drain issue, and I have done everything, including a full factory reset, and still have the problem. The other night, I charged my iPhone fully before going to bed, killed all open apps -- and when I woke up my phone was at 22%. I have no push e-mail, no reminders set, etc.

My issues first started with the Exchange bug, but when I did the workaround (don't respond to meeting requests), my battery usage went back to normal. With 6.1.2 and 6.1.3 (the Exchange "fix"), my battery usage is now consistently bad.

It's possible that my battery just decided to go bad, the day that 6.1.2 came out -- just not the most likely explanation...

Those 99% may not be posting. Just calling tech support. Some times I get a cool tech support agent, and the tech guy tells me all his phone calls are due to battery drain. Even my Apple store said the same thing about the update and iPhone not lasting as long as it use to. This isn't the only forum on battery drain, Some people go elsewhere because of all the rules of posting on here, I think some of the rules are a joke myself. I don't have it backwards! I've done my home work on this issue for months! Starting with 6.0.2. A lot of people I know have switched out phones for another one because of the battery. I don't want to get in a B------g match over who's right and who's wrong. This battery drain problem has been going on for months! I hope Apple has a fix soon.

-- This is yet another issue that would be greatly helped by a little more transparency on Apple's part. Could these issues all be a result of a hung/rogue process? Absolutely. Has Apple provided any visibility to allow folks to debug these issues? Not really. All that is needed is the ability to list active processes and their CPU usage (like every other OS I know of provides). Why is this not available?

I have the same problem with battery drain. With no other apps open, if I leave the screen active in settings, I can see battery starting to drain given less than 5 minutes. I feel the top of the phone around the front camera area to warm up and get hotter. I am wondering if others also notice the phone getting hotter around the same area. Because of the area where it gets hot, it makes me relate the battery drainage I am experiencing to that when I use Facetime.

I don't think it has anything to do with apps or processes or logging out of the App Store.

The OS is fine and then something happens after a charge that it displays the incorrect percentage.

Obviously if you turn everything off and the Data your battery will last longer. But then. What's the point of having a Smart Phone?

Those are 2 different issues. 1 is the drain of iCloud and other services. The other is the OS displaying the wrong percentage.

If like me, you reset at 11% and it comes back at 18% then there's an issue. Now I know it'll be fine for a few days. Then crap out again. Again I'll have to calibrate and hard reset it until it behaves again. If I don't hard reset and do all that, turning off this and that won't make any difference because its still displaying the wrong percentage.

I'm sure you must be right. Everyone who posted that they solved the problem by following the tips in this or another thread are lying.

Same issue here on an iPhone 4S with the new update. I did a test last night. I charged my phone to 100% at about 2am, (leaving it how I normally have for the past year in a half, as far as notifications) woke up at 9am and the battery was at 55%.

I think it's happening when the phone is not active, because I began using it at 55% (was on FB, watched a YouTube video, and listened to Spotify) for about an hour and the battery was at 44%.

However this issue needs to be fixed ASAP!

DarryIR what i was trying to say is that when you develop an app for ios you have to submit it to apple and follow their guidelines. One of it says the app should not drain a lot of the battery. I have the guidelines document with me will take a screenshot of it.

They are a lot of guidelines if anyone interested can send the document. I am a developer my self but have no experience on IOS as of now. It just shows that the update has been released without proper testing. Also many people say only a few of us are facing this issue, that could be because --

1. Many of the ios users have not updated to 6.1.3 after reading about the issues we are facing.

2. Many wont update to 6.1.3 as you cant downgrade to lower versions.

3. No jailbreak possible on 6.1.3. They are many users who jailbreak and still buy the apps and not use the pirated ones.

So it seems that we are ******* and should wait a week or 2 once an update is released and check on users reviews before updating. There is no harm in acknowledging mistakes as all the developers are humans and will make mistakes sometime or the other. Wish apple could just reply and say that they are working on a fix or something.

By the time I finish typing and posting this message, the battery on my iPhone 4S will probably lose 5%. It's been losing 1% ever since the update.

The battery drainage is most definitely due to the latest 6.1.3 update.

All the glitches within iOS operating system are becoming a big problem.

There really is no use of an iPhone to any of its users if the battery issue persists.

Had a major battery issue with my 4s. Tried every fix out there. Apple even replaced the battery. Still massive battery drain. I finally broke down and replaced my 1 year old 4s with a 5. Wow, problem solved. My iphone 5 held a full charge all day. My iphone 5 was actually usable again without having to carry a charging cord everywhere i went. Only problem is I updated to 6.1.3. Major battery drain. Right back to where i started. Totally regret accepting the 6.1.3 upgrade to my phone. After lots of money, time, effort, frustration, aggravation.... C'mon, this is a mobile phone. Life shouldn't be this hard. I am searching how to fix the issue and am posting to a forum now???? More wasted time to use a product that cost a lot of money to replace another defective product that cost a lot of money. Who is the fool now - ME! This is not right!!!!
