iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

I have an Iphone 5, a few day's after I updated to 6.1.3. The phone was getting hot and the battery drained fast. Tried everything I found in forums, nothing helped. I could see that the cellular data usage was going hard, what caused the drainage. I removed the iCloud account, which seems to do the trick. Turning everything off in the iCloud account, did not work (still fast drainage and continuous cellular data usage).

For now, I use it without the iCloud account set. I am verry disapointed that the bug seems to be in Apple's own software.

Ok - this may or may not work for everyone - but I simply turned off everything in the Cloud. Fixed the battery drain issue - the only thing left open is 'Find my iPad" which is an app and not an iCloud 'feature.'

I have an iPhone and an iPad Mini that I have NOT updated - but I made the mistake of updating my iPad 3 last weekend and the battery life went into the toilet.

I'm not worried about my Cloud since I have three other devices counting my Macbook Pro -

So - turn off everything in the Cloud and let Apple fix it - once it is fixed - go back to the cloud if you need it for you iOS device.

Update.....I found it was the Calendar App causing all my issues. If I opened Calendar it never stopped accessing server. Closing the App and going to Multi-Task on the bottom and deleting Calendar stops the accessing and no battery drain....try it. It is a pain in the *** to have to do that but, I don't have to charge twice a day either...still at 77% for 10 hours now and I have used it for calls directions and text messaging.

Have to disagree, The restores via iTunes have helped countless people experiencing issues, as does the setting>reset>reset all settings and allow battery to drain totally then charge for 3.5 hrs or more. Lawerence is correct that this is an ongoing issue for a handful (in the grand scheme of devices sold) of people. Typically its the update process itself not the iOS version. There have been a few versions with known issues but 99% of the time its an app or setting that hangs during the upgrade process itself. Best solution is close all apps, reboot, then perform an update of iOS. However the processes outlined in this and several forums are known to resolve these problems for a LOT of people. So you are incorrect with your statements.

Also, no one here is suggesting to turn off all apps and settings etc. The places that is mentioned is solely for troublshooting purposes. If the devices does not work in "out of box" state then probably a device issue. If it does work ok in that state then you have an app or setting issue. Apple most likely will never fix this because its a side effect of updating. I suppose they could add a routine to kill all apps and reboot and before updating, Anyway for the record I have no issues with 6.1.3. either so iOS itself works fine for me.

I don't appreciate you calling me a troll. Second, you useless fixes don't work...lol you may fool some of these people but not me. Your wasting people's time with your ideas as a temp fix. That makes me upset. This is an Apple problem. Let apple fix it. If that's at all possible?

But no reason for you to name call. I'm just pointing out facts. If I feel like giving my opinion on a company I stood behind for many years ill do so. And if no one likes it...tuff! I think these people with problems should be upset. Ipad mini, 10 hours of usage, I don't get even close to ten hours. No 3d games, no mail set up, iCloud off, location off, Bluetooth off, apps all closed in back round. A couple text messages and some Internet, 6 hours its dead! Wifi turned off when not using it, drains just sitting on my coffee table.

Don't waste your time with these wannabe fixes...call Apple or go in the store if you have one in your area. Thank you for giving up feeding trolls because your ideas or silly steps you've posted DO NOT WORK!

I honestly don't think it's Apple or all of us would have the problem. Honestly I've never had a battery problem with our iPhone 5's or 4S. I think the settings are worth messing around with that people suggest. It's not common only to Apple devices. I just had to go through all of that for my sons Nexus 7. Our other son went through it with a GS3. I did find some of the things to try did help after the last update, 6.1.2 when the one device I had a minor problem with worked and helped me. I would encourage you to try it at least and it just might work. I don't blame any of the manufacturers when most don't have a problem but a few do. I think it's either the device or something in how it's set up or apps and things that run in the background. Good Luck.

By the time I finish typing and posting this message, the battery on my iPhone 4S will probably lose 5%. It's been losing 1% ever since the update.

The battery drainage is most definitely due to the latest 6.1.3 update.

All the glitches within iOS operating system are becoming a big problem.

There really is no use of an iPhone to any of its users if the battery issue persists.

An extremely simple solution to all of these issues for Apple is the ability to uninstall an upgrade. If we could simply back up the entire system to a compressed disk image on the base computer this would solve 100% of this issues for people. Apple knows best however. These chronic issues will destroy this company's business over time. Arrogance is never appreciated in people or business.

We can go back and fourth with this! But I don't care what you say.....it's the firmware! Lol I did a lot of the steps posted here and elsewhere, at first battery worked great! Than it went down again. I'm not getting the battery usage I use to get when I first received my ipad mini on November 2nd. My son had an update for his android phone, no problems with the battery. Same settings, same apps. When and if Apple admits the firmware was the cause of the battery drain I'm gonna laugh my blank off. Or if some other update comes out and people are getting better battery life ill do the same, laugh my blank off.

Almost everyone at the Apple store doesn't have a battery problem? I'm sure! No one from Apple will admit it, only a few have told me they believe its the firmware. I say the sky is blue, you say it's purple. I'm right on this one. You can say people have fixed their battery all you want, all they did was disable features on the iPhone. Tell me this? Why does it work for some and not others? As soon as someone updates the battery fails? Something got caught up during the update? Lol...all of this makes me laugh because I have NO PROOF these fix it yourself works.

Please don't reply to my posts unless you have solid proof. My ipad works great now! Thanks! See...it's that easy.

As with most everyone else here, after "upgrading" to 6.1.3 a few days ago I have been experiencing major battery drain on my iPhone 5. 100% battery level to 10% within about 5 hours. Before 6.1.3 it was 100% to 10% within 18-24 hours...

I have read through the thread in its entirety and have tried all of the reasonable solutions posted but still have had no luck...

I'm really sad!

The issue with ios 6.1.3 and 6.1.2 actually, is that for some reason the software is reporting the wrong battery %.

I just updated my wife's 3Gs which wasn't having any issues on 6.0 and now it's having the same issues my 4s is having.

I noticed her phone dropped from 100 to 91% in 13 minutes. So I turned it off. Back on again, and when it came back it said 95%.

Same issue with mine.

Sometimes it goes from 10% to 4%. I restart mine and it goes from 11% to 18%.

If you calibrate the battery it may solve the issue; but then after you use the phone and charge it a few times; the problem comes back. And so if you hard reset and calibrate a couple of times, it behaves again. And the cycle goes on and on.
