iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

Few minutes ago went from 91-95% at restart.

Same issue on my 4s after updating.

It's a software issue.

And don't tell me to do this that and the other. I've done it all. I even restored my phone as a new device and used it without installing anything and putting email addresses or turning on any features. Same issue.

It is an iOS problem. This needs to be fixed quickly.

I have Ipad2 & same problem with my battery life, why apple let itself after Stive 's death , to be same samsung & other Companies, apple always had a normal and old sony fashion quality & has to be carefull that any simple problem can hurts its validity.in my Idea they should do their best to stay at top if not falling down from the top always can be with more loss.with in next update the battery drain will be solved.

Mixed reviews about 6.1.3. I tried everything in this thread then tried the following --

1. Did a restore from itunes and set up phone as a new phone -- a lil difference in battery

2. Deleted the IOS 6.1.3 packages from itunes and re downloaded it and did a restore and did a restore from backup from icloud. -- Better Battery performance than any other methods i tried so far.

3. Deleted IOS 6.1.3 packages from itunes, re downloaded it,did restore and setup phone as a new phone -- First 1 hour battery never went down. I was on wifi and watsapp using it now and then, suddenly after 1 hour battery started draining faster....didnt open any apps or anything...strange.

Noticed Bluetooth is set on by default after restore not sure why. Also it seems like if your on wifi and ur 3g is on....it doesnt seem to put 3g off which may point to battery drain. If your on wifi why would you use 3g at the same time? doesnt make any sense....IOS should put it off automatically. This used to happen in my previous andriod phone. I guess i will re do the step 2 i mentioned above again and just wait for a new update. I love IOS over any other mobile OS but I would like to use the phone the way i want to without worrying too much about battery life.

I have been reading through this thread for the last hour and a half. I am having problems with the % being read wrong at least that is what I figured out from reading all of these posts. Since the last update my phone has shut itself off twice. First time it said I had about 42% battery and I was talking on the phone. The second time, just this morning, my phone said I had 55% battery when it shut itself off. I plugged it in to charge and it came back on. My little battery icon was in the red but about 3 minutes later it was up to 58% battery. My phone has been fine until now. I did have problems with my first phone and it was replaced, it acted in much the same way as this one is doing now. I am a big chicken when it comes to doing techie stuff with the phones. I thought about "reset all settings" but not sure about it. I never did that before and I am not sure exactly what happens when I do that.I have changed NOTHING on my phone. Yes I have had updates to the apps. I always shut my apps off after I use them and have no Push notifications going on, no locations etc that would make any difference in all of this. I am sure the guys here are right it is a software problem. It has to be! Because my phone was fine till this last update. Miminal batter drain. Now it isn't. 😕

I think the people that give some solutions to the problems are super! Hang in there guys. 😉

I wonder what really the cause is..

Previously on 6.1.2 and have had experienced battery issues so I did a restore via iTunes. Since I was troubleshooting for quite sometime, I have decided NOT to update my carrier settings (which means I do not have the capability to use 4G, nonetheless 3G). I wonder if anyone with you guys has the choice to update carrier settings or not too whenever the phone is fresh from a restore. Quite acceptable to me, just for that reason that 4G LTE is only available in some parts of the country and my location's not included (I am from the Philippines). Battery is still bad but kinda acceptable to me so I let it that way.

Here comes update 6.1.3.

I decided to upgrade. No problems encountered so far so I was happy. Until I noticed that almost all of the locations I've been through, my signal is only on E (or EDGE). It was very frustrating to look for a strong signal, especially when I found out that my bestfriend ( who is only using an iPhone 4 ) has 3G in most of our locations. I usually had tantrums when I see her mobile getting stronger signal than my iPhone5. So then I decided to upgrade my carrier settings (wc enables me to use LTE). I was happy then, both our iPhones are getting strong 3G signal (but still LTE is not available in my loc). But as quickly as I have noticed, the battery is draining quicker. I would usually let wifi on and would sleep for 2-3 hours. It's just frustrating to find out that my battery would drop from 41% to 19% with no use given that I have received several sms and notifications from facebook. Just now as i typed this, I have already losed 4%.

My observation is this... Whenever I look at my usage and standby time, it seems to be running well. I mean, my iPhone would reflect a usage of 8-9 hours on purely wifi. But I do not certainly believe that I have used the phone for 9 full hours. So maybe something in the background is keeping the cpu busy? 9 hours of usage time is pretty acceptable, but with the knowledge that I have only used the phone for 5 hours or less is just unnacceptable to me.

The issue is the % is being read wrong. I think that's the issue for sure.

Many of the "fixes" will work. Lets say, you restore the phone as new. Erase everything. Install everything again. Your apps. Set up your emails; everything. Works!

Calendar iCloud issue. Reset that. Works!

Location services going nuts. Works!

Everything works. Hard Resetting the phone after deleting iCloud and emails. Works.

All of it may work or some of it may work for you.

The problem is that these fixes are TEMPORARY. After a few days of using the phone and charging it, the OS goes right back to reading it wrong and a week later, you're back at square ONE.

I've stopped trying to fix it. Only an update will.

Totally agree with you, Thai.

It's absurd to go through the tedious steps of resetting when in the end the battery drain issue persists.

Not until Apple comes with a solid solution, this annoying and serious problem will be fixed.

When my very first iPhone 4S was operating on 6.0.* never had any problems with a short battery life.

Battery was losing only 0.5 % per hour on a standby, getting 2 days of a very decent battery life with browsing, messaging, apps running in a back.

Now, a few updates later, my iPhone loses anywhere between 1 to 4 % per hour on a standby of its battery life, and while doing very light browsing anywhere up to 10%.

Have to charge phone 2 times a day.

The thing is some applications and programs can't function without the latest iOS version, and that's the reason why so many users have to do the latest iOS updates thus finding their iPhones vulnerable to a very short life, screen freezing, Wi-Fi being busted, and being exposed to security scams.

Hope Apple gets, once and for all, those crucial vulnerabilities fixed.
