iOS 6.1.3 battery drainage

Last night I updated my iPhone 4S to a iOS 6.1.3 and now it drains my battery in extremely fast manner. As I started signing in to write this question from my iPhone I already lost 13% of my battery. I never had a problem with a battery and ive been using iphones since the first one. i miss my morning class because of it because my alarm clock didn't because my phone was dead. Please fix it or have no choice but buy Samsung GS4

Same problem occured after last update.

However I noticed when I turned off Wi-Fi on my iPhone 4s dramatic battery drainage stopped or maybe seized much. So now I just turn on wi-fi only when I really need it, othewise battery just dies.

On this mode I'm on my 2nd usage day without recharge and I have as much as 40% battery left after 36 hrs of standby/moderate usage. (note that I'm mostly on EDGE mode, I also turn on 3G when needed)

Until Apple gets this fixed my recommendation is to turn off wi-fi. If it doesn't work on your device then it's just my phone, but I believe it could help at least some of you.

Cheers,

There's an article now in softpedia "battery drain issues 6.1.3 become epidemic".

As for me, yesterday I bought a Mophie Juice Pack Plus. I've been using the phone since 4am pretty heavy and it's now 8pm. I'm at 40%.

I was at 20% at 2pm and charged it to 85%.

This is the only way I am getting a good full day of usage.

I also don't believe in turning off features as a fix.

I did experience an issue a few updates ago where the "Setting Time Zone" service would check all the time. I turned that off but apple fixed that.

Other than that I don't believe in turning off 3G, or data altogether. Or have to turn off push or iCloud or Siri etc etc to get a decent battery life. What is the point in having a smartphone if you have to turn off all the features in order for it to work properly. Nonsense.

The iPhone should at the very least give you a full 1 day of full use with ALL the features turned ON. Of course, I turn off wifi because I'm never on wifi; but as far as the features that make this "smart" and not just a Blackberry Curve, I have them ON. As it should be.

I bought this case just so that if Apple never fixes this battery problem; then my wife can get a full day of use and I can move on to a Galaxy S4 then.

I'm an Apple guy. I have a MacBook, but if this is how is going to go, then ill get something else.

Seriously, those people who claim that the battery counter is showing up the wrong % value, should actually think again. IMHO, I do not actually care whether or not the battery shows 1% for as long as it would get me through the day without charging. I would rather see my iphone sitting at 1% the whole day than having a correct and accurste battery % than rolls off right before my eyes. You know what's ridiculous? I will laugh my flock off those people who agreed that these workarounds aid in solving the battery drain. Well you know, saying that you have solved the problem is a piece of cake. My iPhone5 is back to normal and I now experience decent battery life. See that was easy. Apple needs to fix this, period.

Had a major battery issue with my 4s. Tried every fix out there. Apple even replaced the battery. Still massive battery drain. I finally broke down and replaced my 1 year old 4s with a 5. Wow, problem solved. My iphone 5 held a full charge all day. My iphone 5 was actually usable again without having to carry a charging cord everywhere i went. Only problem is I updated to 6.1.3. Major battery drain. Right back to where i started. Totally regret accepting the 6.1.3 upgrade to my phone. After lots of money, time, effort, frustration, aggravation.... C'mon, this is a mobile phone. Life shouldn't be this hard. I am searching how to fix the issue and am posting to a forum now???? More wasted time to use a product that cost a lot of money to replace another defective product that cost a lot of money. Who is the fool now - ME! This is not right!!!!

I've also noticed that instead of usual 1.5 hour it takes for a phone to fully charge, it takes over 2.5 hours now after the update.

Whoever wrote the apps are draining the battery, I'd have to disagree with that person.

Some apps could start draining battery, but not to the extent of having to charge the phone every 12 hours.

It's up to software, and I had written even before the latest update that it's ridiculous to have a "smart" phone if all of its feaures that make it a smartphone have to be turned off.

With 6.1.2 iOS the battery was giving me on my iPhone 4S on average 5 hours of usage, and 15 hrs of standby.

With 6.0.*, up to 8 hrs, and 48 hrs of standby.

With the latest update less than 4 hrs of usage if that many, don't know the exact standby, but the phone would be at 100% in the morning, by early evening it would be kaput.

Since the 6.0.* iOS I added only 1 app. That was it.

So, it's most definitely the software messing up the hardware.

iOS 6.1.3 is taken more power than before and the phone is heating as never before.

If i watch a 40 min show on movies apps the battery goes down 50% and and the phone goes hot displaying a message of high temperature.

This has never happen before. Not even with iOS 6.1.1 which i thought was the worst soft ever from apple.

Everyone out there !!! Stick with iOS 6.1.2........for a long time....cause you gonna regret it after....

No wonder that apple with what is doing lately lost so much on stock market.

There no more concern about apple users as it used to be.

All the software updates were related to a lot of issues lately.

I used to be a strong believer in apple products .... but seeing the latest S4 specs makes me wonder maybe it's time to switch on android OS. It seems that more apple users are choosing this opt.

My I phone 5 is also draining power at an alarming rate since the 6.1.3 update it is getting very hot. I have tried the basic fixes. I have turned off the data network so no 3G data when I am out and about. It is working ok when I am using wi fi and get my normal battery use. Apple please do something about this as I can not use my phone as you have advertised.
