Does ios 6.1.3 wifi issues get solved in next update?

Has anyone solved their wifi issues after new update of ios ? Coz i am having wifi issues since i updated my iphone 4s to 6.1.2 . I dont think it is a hardware failure... I have tried resetting my iphone as new device. I have checked my router settings which is a netgear make.

Please help if new software updates help solve this problem? I have updated this from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 but unfortunately the problem persisted after updating my device to latest ios running. I guess many are having same issues. GUYS WE MUST DO SOMETHING SO THAT APPLE LISTENS US ATLEAST.

Um, good question, Allan...how come I don't have the issue with my iPhone 4 either?

In fact, I have never had a connection problem with my iPhone 4 (Verizon CDMA) since I bought it pre-order and kept up-to-dat with every iOS release. Same for my iPad-Original, iOS 5.1.1, but have never had an issue.

Both devices remember and connect without even being told to WiFi at home, both daughters', sister's, and even the DFW airport free WiFi.

Some people have noticed no problems with WiFi connectivity after upgrading to iOS 6.1.3. Numerous other people have. A simple skim of the threads on this site or a cursory google will demonstrate it to be a very prevalent issue. Perhaps it has something to do with the way 6.1.3 interacts with existing network infrastructure; problematic with some but not others. If this is the case, great! Just identify the problem and tell us how to fix it. Still, this would be a software issue.

I can't possibly speak for the all the people who have had WiFi connectivity issues with previous versions of iOS. Fortunately I don't have the time to troll these communitites and post links thereto in a misguided attempt to be dismissive. My personal experience has been that my 4s worked perfectly on WiFi since the day I purchased it, without exception. I upgraded to the latest version of the iOS, ceteris paribus, and began to experience the same issue numerous other users are complaining about.

I'll be the first to admit I don't know what the problem is. I'm trying to find out. Either Apple is releasing buggy software that doesn't jive with some network environments or they charged me $800 for hardware that couldn't even last a year and a half. In any event, the issue is not my fault. It is ridiculous that I should be expected to pay Apple $199 to receive a fix for a problem they created.

did you not read the post earlier. 6 and 11 are default channels and leaving them there if you have a lot of wifi routers around will cause packet collisions on the same frequency which would explain the choppy connections you are experiencing. You obviously do not understand how Radio Frequency works and how interfearence can cause problems with a digital wireless connection.

I am in a spot where seven different have used the wireless network using MacBook Pro, iPAd 3, iPhone 4S, Sony laptops (2), Windows phone.

The ONLY devices having issues are the iPhone 4S and the iPad 3. Both are fully updated; both worked fine on my home network; both have attempted resets of network settings.

iPhone 4S cannot even see the wireless network, and cannot find it when the name is typed into the "find other" box.

iPad 3 sees network, works on it for several minutes, then drops it, and sees it but cannot log in -- after typing in password (correct password) message is "unable to join." Repeatedly. Does this for hours. Eventually can log on, work for a little while. Then it starts again.

Both devices do not simultaneously have faulty hardware. The network settings and hardware are not at fault. The only thing those devices have in common, and different from all the other devices, is newly updated iOS.

Hey Soporifix,

In an attempt to make these forums actually helpful, here's a link to an article written on Time Magazine's Tech Section of their Internet site. It's written by the managing tech editor. I would imagine this guy possesses at least a modicum of technically savvy, or at the very least, has access to people who do. In any rate, he's having the same problem with his 4s that other people are complaining about.

He's asked Apple to comment, as of yet I don't believe he's been given a response.

Many people experiencing this problem have achieved temporary fixes by taking a heat gun to the back of the phone, putting the phone in the freezer for 30 minutes, or having the WiFi chip removed and resoldered (check out YouTube for examples). Granted these solutions are ridiculous and likely only temporary, they do however point to the root of the problem.

The growing consensus is that 6.1.3 is having problems with heat generation, especially around the WiFi chip. This is affecting the soldering, causing degradation in WiFi performance eventually leading to the point where the WiFi button becomes completely grayed out. The reason this happens to some 4s's and not others is that not all 4s's have the same WiFi Module or maybe be soldered differently. Check out EmBee82's posts on the following thread for a good summation of the problem and the MacGyver fix.

At any rate I wouldn't bother quibbling with anyone who might suggest the problem is on your end. As you and numerous others have mentioned, everything worked fine on the aggrieved devices until you updated to iOS 6.1.3. The only thing you've done wrong is to trust the efficacy of the latest iOS update. Keep pressuring Apple. They created the problem and the onus is on them to fix it.

Same problem here. Just upgraded to iOS 1.6.3 and my wifi is gone. I guess the "geniuses" at Apple can't figure this one out, considering this thread was started months ago. Plus, they probably want everyone to do what the Time writer did: give them more $$$ to replace the broken crappy product with a new crappy device that will likely stop working before its expected lifetime. ***FRUSTRATED***

I had two iPhone 4s, NOT two iPhone 4S'. (and updated to 6.1.3) One was stolen and then I was given a 4S. It had been reset so I had to restore my info to it That's when I noticed Wifi grayed out. I asked the previous owner and Wifi worked for them, however, they didn't upgrade to 6.1.3. I did and it doesn't work. It is a 6.1.3 issue and i hope that iOS 7 will fix it.
