iPad 2 wifi issues after iOS 6.1.3 update

I have had an iPad 2 since they were first released. It is wi-fi + 3G and had been accessing wi-fi everywhere (work, home, public) without problems...until the iOS 6.1.3 upgrade. Since then it is unable to find networks. If and when it does, the signal is weak and is after a few minutes. Here is what I have done:

1) Reset the iPad by turning it completely off and turning it back on.

2) Reset the iPad by holding down the home button and the on/off button until it reset itself.

3) Reset the Network by going to Setting/General/Reset/Reset Network Settings

4) Took it to the Apple Retail Store, where the "Genius" told me to restore it as a "New Device". I did so to no avail.

5) I let the battery run out completely, connected it to the power cord, and as soon as I was able to go to Settings, I turned wi-fi on and off and on again.

6) I reset the router at home several times.

None of these things worked! The problem persists and I am frustrated. So much so, that I have learned the iPad mini is having the same issues and altough I had planned on buying one for my wife for mother's day, I refuse to make the investment. I'm starting to be turned off by Apple and its games. The fact that the Genius Bar is so booked only tells me their devices seem to have more problems.

Does anyone have any suggestions or additional work arounds to the iPad 2 wifi problems with the iOS 6.1.3 update? Does anyone know if and when Apple plans to address this growing issue?

Thanks

We have multiple Apple devices as well as other devices. We have all updated with no problems at all.

wifi connectivity is fine.

But I also have a new Router (less than 6 months old)

Every improvement and update to these gadgets adds to the obsolecense of our exhisting electronics.

It may be your router is still using virtual "smoke signals" while your iPod is here in the 21st century....

Every time I have a similar problem it isn't the iPod/iPad/iPhone/Galaxy S3/Droid Razer M, etc, it is always my router or a big stack of updates that haven't been done on the device.

well good for you. mine was used with even the latest Airport Express 802.11n gen-2 with the latest firmware 7.6.3 and still no go.

only thing that revived my ipad 2's Wi-Fi to partial working condition is to put it into the freezer for about 1/2 hour.

even then it will only work when i restrict my airport express(2.4GHz band) & linksys 54G AP to B/G mode. Keeping the 5GHz band on the express to N mode for my laptop and iPhone 5 to connect at higher speed.

The sooner Apple admits there is a software issue (whether everyone has the issue or not), the sooner they can fix it. I'd like to think IOS7 will have it fixed, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

BTW, my iPad still has the same issues. Though I haven't needed to restore my iPad mini in the last 2 days (a record timeframe), it still loses wifi throughout the day for no reason at all.

The iPad shows the network but does not connect - even when inches from the Air Port Express. Having reset and retried and follow all suggestions I am at wits end.

For all intents and purposes the iPad is now a paperweight since there is no connection to the internet. No email - no sending or receiving files.

Thanks Apple - good job.

Same problem here except I thought my router was going so I dropped $100 on a new router only to have the same signal issues. Not too happy about circular filing a perfectly good router for no reason. I made this post from my Samsung phone because my ipad 2 won't hold a signal. Is this how Apple gets you to buy a newer product and how long does this thread need to get before something is done? I'm sure all the engineers can focus on now is iOS 7, but an interim fix would be nice.

After trying all the things (almost all of them) mentioned in this thread I broke out the long lost paper clip and put it to the Airport Express. Set up as though it had just been unboxed. Lo and behold! All systems were again working. The original Airport Express (whatever they refer to it as) an old iMac (maybe 6 years old - 10.6.8 and only 2GB memory) and an iPad2 3G are the devices I struggle with. No smart phone and a Windows OS7 at work. So when does it get easier and not more difficult and confusing? Better hurry up - I am running out of birthdays. Geo
