my ipad screen is black

My lovely 7 year old has dropped his iPad many times. Smacking the back always did the trick. Recently, that trick stopped working. I twisted it and bonked it on my knee. No luck. Someone mentioned hitting it with your knee by the headphone jack. I tried that. No luck. Then I wondered how hard I should smack, so I smashed it on my now bruised knee. It started coming back. Colors are a little wonky but in the past some additional smacking usually works. I do suggest making sure you have charged it for a full day before trying. Good luck. Now if someone can help with me trying to type in this forum via iphone 5. So buggy. Grrrrr.

U r great, initially i could not believe that some thing like that could do the wonder. but once every thing failed. i said whatt the ****, lets take a chance and .....to my surprise it worked like charm. thanks you

Crazy ! worked for me also... Since 8 or 10 weeks this shi**tty iPad mini would not display anything, or only a few seconds before turning into black screen.

APPLE : what is going on ? Do we have to knee on your products to make them work ? Isn't that a hidden defect ??

My iPad mini, 64 gigs, is as new. but was totally unusable since weeks.

I hope the next time I won't break the screen by doing such an incredible task.

My 6 year old son just came to us with a black iPad - we could hear Siri, but nothing else worked! I searched the support forums and your suggestion came up. I tried iTunes, holding down buttons etc first but when nothing worked I thought I might as well give your idea a go and hey presto! The apple symbol appeared and the iPad now works perfectly again. Thank you for posting your suggestion! Still smiling at the fact it worked :-)

I took Riley's advice out of total desperation when nothing else worked. Sure enough, the screen lit up and it's working like a charm. I just hope this doesn't become a regular occuring thing.
