Why two Send boxes in Mail App ?
I sometimes get confused: where is my sent mail ? there are two Sent boxes.
One under Mailboxes and one under Gmail
I never know when the sent mail appears on one or the other.

Where do you take that statistics from ??
I am using the Mail App but also noticed the shrotcomings
This means that the problem is dissolved rather than resolved.
In other words: it is crap but better than nothing

Now you are telling me something that I can counter again. It just does not work as you say.
It worked for me, as I remember doing it when I upgraded to ML, both in my account and my partner's.

The present Mail App is usable but has some serious shortcomings.
So go and find something that suits you better, rather than whining about it.
The reason this thread is long is because you won't do what we suggest, because you "think" you know better.
You need to select each of the mailboxes under Gmail which has an "alter ego" in the unified mailboxes and tell Mail to use that Mailbox for that purpose.
Good Luck. This is the last time I try to offer you any advice. You are entirely too pig-headed to help.
I do not care about your posts any more.
True. people tried to help but now that they failed ( they did not solve a problem: how to sync Mail to Gmail ),
lets finnish here.
Why some of you are frothing ? because you think Mail App is excelllent and
will not admit any problems exist at all.
Game over.
Do you mean it this time?
If you think Mail is so bad, use safari, go to mail.google.com, and do everything there instead of using an app you hate so much. If you think gmail is so bad, use yahoo, or aol, or some other mail provider. If you think apple fans refuse to see problems with Mac, don't hang out with apple fans. If you think this community is not helpful, don't visit this site.
If you don't like Mac, by a PC. Period.
I used to have PC s for many years and they costed me big money because I was never content with any of them and just gave them away one after the other , and buyed new ones hoping they were better. But was never content.
Until 3 years ago I buyed the Mac Mini and was not content with it either, and then upgraded it to 8 Gb memmory, and now it is to my liking, except some details such as the Mail but I hope very much on next OS as I said
So I will never go back to PC.
You can always just use a different mail client like Thuderbird. It is free and works with Gmail.
But Thunderbird does not have On My Mac section
This feature in Mail is something I have not seen in other mail systems.
I am using Mail just to access Gmail
Will Thunderbird act like a client to Gmail ?
Yes I believe so
You can try it and see if it meets your needs. It is free.
Here you see links to articles how to make Mail and Gmail play nice together

Is this simple ?
To me it is not. But you folks tried everything to make a dork out of me.
Why ?
How to make Mail and Yahoo play nice together probably has some tricks too.
Those articles you linked to have nothing to do with the sent folders.
Is this simple ?
No, it is not. That's why those articles were written. GMail was originally designed as a web-based email client. It is in no way standards-based. Because of the way it was designed, you have to modify the behavior of standards-based email clients in order to get them to function as close to a standard email server as possible. Yahoo was similar, but I don't know of its current status.
But you folks tried everything to make a dork out of me.
No, that was all self-inflicted.
Hi Barnie
I read the articles, they concern archiving and trash, not sent folders.
