iphone 5 power button NOT Working anymore.

The power button of my Iphone 5 is not working properly. What i mean by that is i have to push the power button REALLY REALLY hard to get it to work. I am worndering can i take it to Apple and have them replace it for me? I had have my Iphone 5 for a little more then a year and my warrenty is out of date. Anyone kno if i can still get a replacement? Bought the iphone5 couple of months after it came out, full price out the door and using it for T-mobile

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. My power button had issues, so I took my iPhone to the Apple Store and all they did was replace the power button flex cable. It took less than 15 minutes. They said that if I was beyond my 1 year warranty, it would cost $29. So make sure you guys get this replaced before your warranty expires!

Another work around I used for awhile (until I had the phone replaced at an Apple Store for free) was to simply use the home button to turn on the phone, and then in Settings I checked off the option to have the phone shut off automatically after being idle 1 minute. Probably not as convenient a system as what Roukas described, but another option I thought I'd throw out there . . .

Interesting diagnosis on the "power button flex cable". I (and I believe others) were told by Apple Store that the only solution was to replace the entire phone. Assuming a phone replacement is a much greater cost to Apple than replacement of a flex cable, perhaps we are discussing different issues (power button versus home button?). Of course, I may not have the latest terminology right anyway . . .

Mine is not working either. Though, the slightly embaressing thing is most times when i show friends it then works!

The power button not working is very annoying and you become fearful of it ever loosing power incase you cant switch it on again!

Apparently this is a common problem on the 5.

I am boooked in to see a genius at the Apple Store in the morniing, its in warrenty and they're normally pretty good about faulty equipment - one of the reasons we all buy Apple.
