Sony Ericsson m600i - iSync

I have recently gotten my hands on the most perfect phone for me; the Sony Ericsson m600i. UMTS & triband GSM.

However, it does not sync with OS X.

I have managed to get it paired with OS X, as well as getting it recognised with iSync, but when the isync app is being installed on the phone, the phone complains that the app installation script is no longer supported (this is a UIQ3.0 phone).

Please, please help. I am replacing my ipaq 4700 with this phone, but I need the address book and the calendar.

Thank you in advance.

Finally someone with some common "friggin" sense. Your solution will not work however as SE has washed their hands of it. Please go back and read my communication with them. SE basically says, "buy our products and by the way, screw you". This is their basic response.

Just so that we are ALL on the same page here. Apple has zero point zero to do with the iSync and M600i issue. SE changed the rules of the game and it is not up to Apple to chase SE for a solution.

Another point to this debate is that in their whitepaper, SE states that they will support the P990 via iSync but as you can see they have decided not to. This shows that 1. SE is full of crap, 2. They are not deserving of our money, 3. Someone should make this public and show that SE is more concerned about money and less concerned about customer satisfaction.

My M600i is going in the draw or on Ebay, on some bulletin board tomorrow. As far as I am concerned, SE can go to ****. I am getting the N95 or some other Nokia and this is the way it will be from now on.

****, we should make a site dedicated enterily to this issue

even if it doesn't change sh *t, at least if we convince people not to buy SE untill they have made their phones compatible with isync

send the URL to everybody we know who has the SEM600i...

a site with millions of clicks per day...
a site that is a thorn in the eye of SE....

who is good in making sites? let's make this b *tch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh come on, think about it. P990 and its cousins use a new thing to communicate called "m-router". iSync isn't up-to-date but relies on older tech. It does not make sense to stop technical evolution on mobile phones in order to be compatible with iSync, the solution must be for Apple to update iSync when reality moves on. A temporary way would be for SE to build som 3rd party solution to make iSync work with these phones, but that also does not make sense, iSync is Apple's ware, and should be kept up-to-date by...Apple. If SE took on Apple's responsibility in that case, their cost for doing som would be totally wasted if Apple then suddenly delivered, which makes it an even more irrational endeavour for SE to engage in. THAT is common sense.

Face it - Apple does wonderful computers, but their customer care leaves A LOT more to wish for. We all love Macs, right, but that does not mean that we need to be blindfolded to simple facts regarding Apple's (dis-)ability to timely deliver every now and then.

Until Apple get their butts out of the sofa and give us an up-to-date iSync, I will miss the possibility to sync my P990 with my Mac just as much as you do. Let's not bash SE for this. (I would agree to bash SE for a whole lot of other things though, such as the degree of user-friendliness of the P990 for instance).

First post I see. Welcome. Now down to biz. M-router is not new technology. SE used this in their previous phones. SE, not Apple changed the way the phone communicates. Why is it that Nokia phones work with iSync? Simple, because Nokia maintained and utilizes current standards like SyncML over Bluetooth, or IR. SE changed this. Why is it that SE does not support the USB Mass Storage profile under Mac OS X? Dude, you need to go back and re-read this thread before you post what can be deemed, well, crap. SE says that they support the P990 in their white papers but guess what: it doesn't. So why should Apple do their work for them. Apple will release the iPhone that will kick the crap out of SE and I will be the first in line to get one. My M600i is going in the draw or on ebay and I will get a Nokia in the meantime.

If it were not for Apple none of Sony Ericssons phones would work with iSync. SE have never had any interest in allowing their phones to sync with Macs. If the M600i/P990 ever get supported by iSync it will be down to Apple. The software that iSync installed on the P910 was written by Apple, and Apple will have to produce new software to support the M600i/P990. You are wasting you efforts trying to get SE to do anything. If I was depending on SE I wouldn't have bought the phone in the first place.

Dude,

Will you get over it. SE is not going to help. Apple doesn't have to help. They did not invent the phone in the first place. This is why the M600i is my last SE phone. I am not a Nokia fan but at least their phones work with my Mac. SE changed the way the phone speaks to iSync. Apple did not do this so why should they do SE work for them. If SE had continued to follow the industry standards your phone would work. Don't you get it by now from the fact that SE does not support the USB Mass Storage profile anymore that SE has moved away from supporting Mac? Your continued droning on and on will not make Apple fix the problem. If I were them I would not put one resource on this as it is not their problem.
