App Store updates blank

I have a red "1" on my App Store app, telling me one of my apps needs to be updated. But when I go to the updates it won't show anything, it's just blank. Everything else in the App Store works but I can't see the updates.any suggestions?

I understand your frustration, I am just a user like everybody else. I just wanted to share how I fixed it on my iPad.

As I mentioned in my previous post I received this message from Apple couple of days ago,

"We appreciate your patience as we work to bring our developer services back online"

So I assume something is wrong on their side that might be an intermittent issue that needs a robust solution from them, but while they implement a permanent fix this is the way I fixed my iPad.

I deleted my iCloud account from the Mail, Contacts and Calendar settings and then add the account back. No need to wire connect the device to anything. My iPad is running normal now. Deleting your account will not delete your info it will allow you to retain your info in your device and then merge the information back when you add your account back to that service. So it is not a clean solution or might not be called a solution at all but a work around that worked for me.

Thanks, have a good day.

+1 from me on this issue., iPad 2 with latest iOS. It happens quite often and then resolves itself with no indication what was wrong. I now have a badge statin 13 updates available. Also I can go to Purchased and see some (not all) of my purchased apps, some of those with an Update option available.

Wishing Apple would address or at least acknowledge this very common issue.

Hi - I've tried all the other suggested fixes, and just tried this one. It didn't work for me. My Update icon showed "1"; when I went to updates the screen was blank although "1" showed on the Update icon. When I tried this "fix" the "1" disappeared from the icon, but the screen is still blank. It does not indicate "all Apps are up to date," as it should. So I guess we keep waiting for an "update" from Apple. 😉

Dear Andrew,

Thanks for contacting iTunes Store support to let me know you need some help. I understand that the update page is blank when you go to update your apps. I can imagine you must be concerned as I'm sure you would like your iPad to work correctly. My name is Mark and I would be happy to assist you today.

Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available. I would only suggest periodically checking the app store as the issue may be resolved shortly.

In the meantime, as a workaround to update your apps, I would recommend updating the apps on your computer. Once updated you can then sync your device and the updated apps will be transferred.

Thank you for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible.

Sincerely,

Mark

My iPad had this problem for several days, then spontaneously recovered, and now is updating fine. I didn't do anything in particular to fix it. It seems clear that the problem is on Apple's end. I doubt if there is anything to be done at the user end. None of the fixes reported seem to be reliable, and it is quite possible that those iPads simply coincidentally recovered the way mine did. I'd say be patient and wait for Apple to fix it. For the most part, these updates are not urgent.

If you are concerned about whether a particular app is up-to-date, search for it using the App Store app. If the button says "Open" it is up-to-date. If it says "Update" then you can click on the button to update it.

Here is what worked for me.

1) go into Settings

2) select Mail, contacts, Calendars

3) check if you have an iCloud account and tap on it.

4) scroll that window up in order to show the "Delete Account" red bar.

5) select the "Delete Account" red bar.

6) it will ask if you want to keep your contacts, calendar, Safari favorites, etc. on your device.

7) say yes and keep all the data in your device.

8) hit the home button

9) double click the home button and delete all apps in the recent file bar at the bottom of the screen (touch and hold one app from the bottom of the screen until all of them wiggles, then delete each one by selecting the small red circle on the upper left of each one Just the ones on the bottom recent files bar)

10) select the home button again.

11) hold down the power button until the slide to power off shows on the screen.

12) slide the arrow button to the right to power your device off.

13) power your device on again by holding the power button until you see the apple logo on the middle of the screen. (this boot up sequence could take few minutes.

14) once the device is on go to settings and add the iCloud account again. (Select Mail, Contacts, Calendar. on the Accounts section select add Account... Select iCloud and enter your Apple ID and password for this device.

15) then turn no the options you want to be synch (contacts, calendar, reminders, safari, photo stream, etc.)

16) select the home button.

17) open the AppStore and select the update page. It should work normal, so update the apps you need to.

18) Done, now it should work fine.

Having the same problem, blank update field. I found a work-around (doesn't fix original problem though):

If it shows a red number for an update, click on App Store and then go to the Purchased tab. Most of the Apps will have 'open' but any that need to be updated will say 'update.' You can update one by one that way until the red number goes away. Not sure if anyone else posted this work-around; I didn't go through all 17 pages to check. At least you can get your updates until the original problem gets fixed.
