Hotmail not connecting to server iPhone 5

If you change sync e-mail period to 1 day in settings, it may work for you. It's sluggish but it works for me. Please report problem to Microsoft if you are still having issues with Hotmail:

https://status.live.com/report/hotmail ; They claim all is fine.

The one day sync worked for me which can be a temporary fix for now. I reported the problem also so maybe they will have a resolution soon. This is definitely still a problem because it was working fine until 3 days ago. Come on Hotmail!!

Come ON hotmail do something to fix this please.

Perhaps posting that request on the Microsoft forums would have more effect? Neither Microsoft nor Apple monitor these forums for customer feedback.

It's august17 and for days now I get 90%of the time "The connection to server failed", so I'm not getting my hotmail emails on iPhone. What gives. Microsoft says they have no problem. Why then has this problem started since last Tuesday. For several years this has worked fine on iPhone and iPad for hotmail. I have deleted and rebuilt my account on iPad for hotmail, and still can't get my emails and folders. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Yes Lawrence, the site says that but MS personnel don't admit it. They say everything is working ok. The site says a few mobile users are affected. I wonder how they define few. I've not been able to get my mobile email since last Tuesday. Pretty bad service if you ask me. I just wish there was a way to export all my emails and folders from outlook to some other service like gmail..

What MS personnel? If you talk to someone on the phone, just mention status.live.com. Ask them to explain how a problem is listed publicly but they don't seem to be aware of it.

Yes, I am experiencing the same problem. It is infuriating. I am beginning to despise having stuck with Hotmail. And, like mentioned, I feel trapped b/c Hotmail is what I know, as well as all my contacts and emails are already there. I don't believe another email server (Gmail, Yahoo) will allow me to import emails without me having to send every email to this server myself.

Anyone have any updates? You have any luck edhusky with your iPhone & Hotmail? It seems for me that the inbox is getting all my messages, but not the sent folder, or other folders. Additionally, I use to have it set at show 1000 messages under the "Mail" tab and under the "Hotmail" tab I use to have it set to "No Limit" for Mail Days to Sync, and it would load and sync my email quick. Now, the **** Apple iPhone wheel is continuously spinning - always. I am so frustrated I could throw the phone. I have deleted my hotmail accont and reinstalled but that is not helpful. I also restore my iPhone completely, but that was not helpful either. I wonder if this is our new state of existence for Outlook/Hotmail and iPhone.

Before you throw the phone away, I'll purchase it from you for $50.

You DO realize that it's not the phone's fault that Microsoft decided to break hotmail right?

Please don't abuse your iPhone because of a mistake that it didn't make. 😟
