iTunes 11 crashes when I open the store.

I have tried repairing, uninstalling the entire apple suite ( described in a different article on apple support website), reinstalling, opening in safe mode, changing users, changing the firewall and antivirus settings, clearing the itunes cache, updating iTunes and Windows, and countless reboots. I'm on a brand new pc with Windows 7, so this is really frustrating. I can open my library, but when I click on the store, it loads about 3/4 of the way and stalls. I then get a message that says iTunes has stopped working, and I can either close it or "look online for a solution." But that never helps.

Thank you, lionhartz, for your work on the solution and thank you, jimmy-ray, for including the instructions to help somebody who is not quite so computer savvy be able to do this.

RobH127, You are VERY welcome!!! I couldn't be more pleased that my supplemental instructions re: lionhartz's awesome fix was helpful. Us "not as savvy" computer folk have to stick together!

Your alternate solution worked for me. Strangely [to me] iTunes, same version, does not crash on accessing the store on 2 other Windows 8 computers. Just the one. I presume that is because of a conflict with the display driver used on the PC that iTunes 11.1.0 crashes on.

I joined the Apple Support Community soley to thank everyone here for doing all that fantastic work. 🙂

This was driving me nuts for days, and copying the .dll was such a simple, instant fix it you all made my day. Kudos!

I did this and the store now works! BUT now when I try to sign in it says that an unknown error has occured. (11556) Also the store is stuck on iTunes U. When I click on music at the top, it says it is not currently available in the current u.s. store

Okay I just changed the parental preferences in iTunes because they had been set to block the store

This worked for me! I haven't been able to use iTunes on my new laptop for 2 months but I can now!

Thanks u all.

After going back and forth, i was not sure how to do this tweak.

I tried to uninstall quicktime which was creating issue and restarted my computer. Now it works for me.

I am having the same issue and have done everything in this post but I am still not able to access the iTunes store. Until yesterday I was still signed into the store but since then I have been signed out of it. I was hoping that the iTunes update might help my problem but I still cannot access the store. I have a Sony Vaio

Adding C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to the system PATH environment variable worked for me too!
