OSX 10.8.5 Update HDMI sound not output after source switch

I've installed the combo update but nothing has changed, the audio issue stay. Probably is a bug of 10.8.5

I've discovered that also "Dictation & Speech" (fn fn) didn't work when audio issue manifests.

No, it is not normal to see any failed com.apple launch agents. That indicates a problem with your system, although I don't know what it is.

As for LogMeIn, from http://help.logmein.com/SelfServiceReleaseNote?product=lmifree, I see the following as a bug fix in the latest (?) version of the software:

For Mac, we made fixes to resolve issues with sound output after closing remote control.

And since this software adds a LogMeInSoundDriver kernel extension, (as well as launch agents & daemons!) it is a logical place to look for problems, particularly if you are not running the latest version. The site doesn't seem to offer much documentation, so I can't tell you if the most current version has been tested with 10.8.5, so I suggest uninstalling it (following the developer's instructions if you can find that). If you don't need it, don't reinstall the latest version, or at least check with the developers to make sure it is compatible with 10.8.5.

Wacom usually makes excellent software & keeps it up-to-date, so I doubt it is a problem (but see my comments to MikeinAusin for more about possible conflicts).

As I mentioned in my reply to BadWlf, the LogMeIn software may be a problem. See that post for more about that. The com.Cycling74.driver.Soundflower is obviously related to sound, so it is another obvious possible source of problems, particularly if it has not been updated for 10.8.5.

I have no idea what the com.splashtop.streamer or com.victorpimentel software does, but they may be problems, again particularly if they have not been updated or tested with 10.8.5.

Review your 3rd party software. Any time you install a 3rd party software that contains a kernel extension, you are changing your operating system. You aren't running 10.8.4 anymore. You are running some hybrid. This is true pretty much anytime you give your admin password to some 3rd party installer from anywhere that isn't the Mac App Store. Apple performs no compatibility testing for 3rd party software. Typically, 3rd party software performs no compatibility testing for Apple. If you have any such software installed, and you have a bunch, you must contact each and every one and make sure that it is compatible not just with 10.8.5, but with the other kernel extensions you have. Even if they have tested to make sure their software runs with 10.8.6, they have not tested iwth 10.8.5 and your other kernel extensions. There is no separation between kernel extensions. Any one can corrupt any other.

IOW, the more third party system level stuff you add to the system, the greater your chances are of problems. This is particularly likely when the OS is updated, since the OS being updated is not the one Apple distributes.

Glad to hear there will be an update.

I discovered that LogMeIn was having issues and re-installed the client. Afterwards, I discovered that I still had the following errors:

Can anyone provide a location where I can research the issues? I am fairly new to the Mac platform, but generally know how to dig. Searching on the patterns returns lots of other log files, but no real explanation.

Well, I no longer need assistance with the specific errors. Apparently I uninstalled the Wacom driver incorrectly at some point in time. I just downloaded & installed an updated driver and then ran the Wacom "Remove" process from the Wacom utility (which I had to search for).

After a reboot, the errors are gone.

Now back to our regulary scheduled thread.

Well this is great news! After having issues where my Mac mini wouldn't play sound through the HDMI cable after waking from sleep I used Time Machine to roll back to 10.8.4 and solved the problem. Wasn't the fix I wanted to use but it worked. Glad to see Apple is addressing the issue, and pretty quickly I might add too! Any news as to when they will officially release said update?

That is good news! And everybody that filed a feedback report about this, give yourself a pat on the back. We will never know for sure how much that helped, but it probably did get the issue noticed more quickly and given a higher priority.

This is not an HDMI only issue, I am using my thunderbolt port for mini displayport(dP) to dP and the same issue is occuring. MBA late 2011, monitor Dell U2713.

im running a mini on 10.8.5 with hdmi to a smasung led then optical out into surround sound and having exactly the same problem. the only work arond i have found is that if i switch the output in system preferances to internal speakers, ie the tiny speaker inside my mac i get sound through all applications. i know its not ideal but at least its something until the fix gets released by apple,
