iOS 7 and Audiobook Chapters

iOS 7 seems to have removed the ability to view individual audiobook chapters in the music app. It has also replaced the chapter length with the length of the entire book in the time scrubber. When tapping the top right-hand corner to access the list of chapters, now it only shows one file for the whole book, whereas before it listed all the chapters, just like it lists all the songs in an album. This change applies to my own audiobooks created using the Mac Audiobook Builder app and to Audible downloads. I haven't tried it on an iTunes purchased audiobook.

If I manage to lose my place, scrubbing (even using quarter-speed or fine) through a 30+ hour audiobook is...let's be polite and say "challenging." I really liked knowing where I was in a chapter, being able to see how much time was left, being able to view the list of chapters, etc. My hope is I'm just missing something here and some iOS 7 wizard can show me how to correct this. But I suspect Apple's just updated the app.

This is VERY frustrating Apple!!! Love iOS 7 for most part - and like it better the more I use it - but like many other Apple users for me listening to Audiobooks is a big part of how I use my many iOS devices (my family has 4 Macs, 4 iPads, 5+ various generation iPods including two iPod 5th gens, and two iPhone 5's ... we are an Apple family ... PLEASE FIX THIS and bring chapter view / access and scrubbing back so we all can more easily find our places and enjoy Audiobooks as they were intended to be enjoyed. Aside from that keep up the exciting work!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who really enjoys audiobooks and grew to love the old interface. The addition some time ago of 15 second skip back and skip forward options was excellent.

I mostly listen to lengthy non-fiction history books. Having the ability to see that there's five minutes left in a chapter might send me driving around the block before I go home so I can finish it off. Seeing that the next chapter is 20 minutes, I might stream it through my Apple TV while the kids get ready for bed. These might seem like small things, but to an audiobook user, those small things make the experience much more enjoyable.

I have no idea how helpful it is, but I'd recommend offering feedback through Apple's webform:

Well that's all a bit of a disapointment. I listen to audio books to combat my insomnia, the fun is finding the right voice matched with the content, so no loop repeat is a bit of a bugger, usually when I wake in the early hours, I have Karl Pilkington's/anothers, calming tones to drift back of to..not this morning, just squalking seagulls...again bugger! The chapters or lack of chapters is also a bit of a bugger, no idea where I'm up to, which bits to skip over if I want. All we ask Apple, after investing in you through the thick and a lot of thin years is to put them back please. (Apple since '86 and I've taken a lot of flak over the years)

Can one go back to iOS 6?

I too found out after I had already downloaded the iOS7 about the missing chapters. Like many of you, audiobook playing is what I use the most (after calls and email), so it's very frustrating not being able to look for chapters and having to scrub through a 8+ hr file in a 1.5 in bar is, well, frustrating to say the least. Please APPLE, fix it!!

This is ridiculous. I rely on my audiobooks downloaded from iTunes to keep me company during my long commute. Not only are the chapters gone, but it seems every time I leave the app, when I come back, the books starts from the beginning. WHY????? Since I don't have the ability to bookmark when I close he app, I literally have to make a note where I left off so I can scrub my way there next time. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Apple should fix this and fix it fast!

In case you didn't pick out earlier in the thread, it is still possible to access chapter breaks using the double-arrow button (forward & backwards) on the play menu of the music app in audio book format. What doesn't seem to work for me is scrubbing within a chapter to find a location in the middle of a chapter (can not control that small a jump), or random access of chapters via a list. There doesn't seem to be a looping icon either, although I usually didn't use this feature.

By the way, I don't get the chapters in the Audible App either if the files are from my iTunes library.

I'd expect Apple to restore the chapter list, and the chapter scrubbing as there is list icon for that feature and plenty of room on that page. It clear this is a needed feature and doesn't have any negative impact visually or in any other way I can see.
