How do I limit the number of emails displayed in iOS 7?

I prefer to display only 100 emails from each of my mailboxes on my apple devices, but with iOS 7 it's showing all my emails, and there doesn't seem to be an option to limit this in settings as there was previously?

I manage my own domains. I use POP3. I access from multiple devices. There is NOT enough storage on my iPhone for all the email that I get and I am not in the mood to start having to delete everything to limit the number of messages on the iPhone LIKE I USED TO BE ABLE TO DO AS DEFAULT!!!!

Yes, I am yelling.

I cannot believe that Apple did this.

I am not angry, I am perplexed and astounded at this lack of understanding on Apple's part.

Could it be that they're just trying to sell storage plans? I just set up my wife's phone to do automatic backups and wondered why it didn't do it last night. Then I realized there was over 5GB of mail alone on the phone so there wasn't room. Then of course I searched for the option of how much mail to store on the phone, which wasn't there. I can see where lots of people are going to simply choose to pay $20 a year to solve the problem.

I love smartphones, but we already put out over 200 a month for 3 of them, not to mention the initial cost. I don't want to pay any more for a storage plan.

I guess just do it manually to the computer until they fix it, but if they are doing it to sell storage plans, they probably won't.

go into

-settings

-mail,contacts,calendars

-select account you want to change settings of (mine is called outlook)

-change 'mail days to sync'

i have this set to 3 days so that only the last 3 days of emails are saved to my phone (a manageable amount)

(as shanev44 said, you may have to delete your account and add it again for this option to become available)

Switching to Exchange is not an option for everyone...

This is from http://www.howtogeek.com/99423/email-whats-the-difference-in-pop3-imap-and-excha nge/

Because Exchange and MAPI are Microsoft products, only companies that own their own Exchange mail servers or use Windows Live Hotmail will be able to use Exchange. Many clients, including the default Android mail client and iPhone, are Exchange ActiveSync capable, giving Hotmail users IMAP style cloud-based email, despite Hotmail not offering true IMAP functionality.

I don't use Exchange and there seems to be no way to limit the number of emails besides deleting the account.

I have multiple email accounts that all had this problem until I deleted them and set them up as new accounts. With the exception of Gmail, this worked for every single one of them, including my cable company email address. For Gmail, since it didn't work, I just used their email app and everything is fine. If you are having this problem and haven't tried deleting your email accounts and setting them up again, you are missing the solution.

Yeah but are you seeing anything in settings that lets you pick how many emails you want to see? You say your notification badge is zero, but are the emails still there on your phone? What does your mail usage show in settings? I already figured out how to turn off the number of unread messages, just mark all read. But the emails are still stored on the phone taking up storage space. But I don't want to go from unlimited to zero. I want to set it at about 1000 emails, or 1 month to maintain my coupons. It doesn't sound to me like deleting and resetting is fixing this problem for a POP3 account (verizon) assuming it even would work at all for verizon. You said it doesn't work for gmail, I think verizon would be the same.
