I had the same problem, except on my iPhone 5 ios7.

Had a few songs that I didn't want, and it was really annoying me.

I just figured out how to delete the songs though, and without deleting all your music!

1) go to Settings > Music > turn on "Show all music"

2) open music app, and download all the songs that have the button next to it.

It should be a pink cloud button?? All the download buttons you see, just do all of em..

3) after songs are download, swipe on the song you wanna delete from right to left.

The download button will come back on, but ignore it this time

4) go back to settings, turn off show all music

And then they should be gone! Hope this helps :) this is how it worked for me so.

Based on what was here there is another way to delete these stubborn songs without having to toggle "show all music" on and off. Here is the procedure:

1. Create a playlist called "Delete".

2. Add the songs you want to get rid of to this playlist.

3. After saving the playlist you should see the cloud icon appear.

4. Tap the cloud to download the songs to your device

5. Now you should be able to swipe and delete the songs in question.

This worked on two of my most stubborn songs, Christmas music in Oct. just isn’t right.

Hope this helps!

OK as you can guess.. I'm having the same problem and it's so frustrating! I turned off "show all music" and the songs were still there, just without the iCloud symbol next to them. I tried swiping for the delete option and only the song would play. Before I turned off "show all music" I had over 1,000 songs. Now I have a little over 800 which is what I originally had before I updated to ios7. I also tried turning off my phone and nothing changed. Any tips? Am I doing something wrong?

Its really not all that hard you guys.

1. Plug Phone into PC

2. Open Itunes

3. Once phone is recognized click on "iPhone" in the top right hand corner

4. In the new screen go to the last tab "On This Phone"

5. Make sure "Music" is highlighted on the left hand side.

6. You should see all the songs in your phone even the greyed out ones

7. Select all the songs in the box so that they are all highlighted dark grey

8. Once all the songs are selected simply right click and hit Delete

9. It will ask you to confirm that you want all songs removed from your phone click "Yes"

10. Once the songs are gone go to the bottom of the screen and click 'Sync'

11. Check your phone, it should say "No Content"

HOPE THIS HELPS!

I had this problem too and ever since the update I couldn't figure it out then I did a few days ago..

(The song I wanted to get rid of was just a free one by the way)

Alright so I went on my iTunes and unchecked the song and it was still on my phone ughh!!! So I had to delete the song from iTunes and then it asked me if I wanted it gone from iCloud too and I said yes, now it's not there anymore :)

I realllllly hope that in the next update they let you delete songs right from your phone again cause it's really annoying

These instructions are right on. Just an added step, when u are going to ERASE a song you do not want in your music library, select a song that you want to keep and make sure you hear it for a couple of seconds then pause it. After that then swipe the songs you do not want in your library and erase them. Why do I say this? I was trying to erase a song from my library... I would download it from the cloud then erase it...

but since it was the last song being played it wouldn't fully erase it and then it would populate again on to my music Library WITHOUT the ability to erase it. Frustrating but I figured it out. So please before you start to delete listen to a song u want to keep.

The deletion of the song I was dealing with, was resolved by following the many previous posts. Thought it was legitimately gone, wrong. This only stopped the Native Music App on the phone from seeing the song. Tried my prefered app, "Audyssey", low and behold it still sees the song on the phone. Seems the previous fixes only "hides" the items from the native app. Song is not listed on my phone when viewing the music contents of the phone in iTunes....The quest continues to find an answer.
