Here is the scorched earth type of way to delete music on your iPhone under iOS 7. Go to General settings, go to usage click on usage and wait for everything to load. Under music you'll see the delete button up at the top right corner. Hit delete and all of your music will be deleted. Then start over.
Finally! This works. Thanks so much! I've spent days trying to figure this out.
You are welcome
The most secure way is using professional third-party software like iPhone Data Eraser, which is a reliable and effective tool to smash everything on your iPhone, including musics, contacts, messages, photos, videos, apps, account info, passwords, and other personal data.
changpc,
I know how to do what you want on iTunes on your computer. If you go to iTunes, click on the song/album you want, right click, and choose "Get Info" you'll be able to change the things you want to change.
This thread is 5 pages long, which is a dead give away that folks are not having a problem deleting music, the feature just isn't working as everyone says.
I have songs on my phone that do not appear in my itunes (computer) and do not appear in icloud (cloud, duh) but are on my iphone and they cannot be removed.
The artist is Symphony Cafe and the album is called AWOLNATION. However, I was attempting to by the album by the artist AWOLNation. This utter piece of rancid ***** record was clearly named in a shrewd attempt to profit on purchasers like me who didn't pay close enough attention to the fine details when I was trying to make a purchase.
But I digress.
This album and/or the songs cannot be deleted from my iPhone 5 not matter what I do.
Yes, I have:
- enabled "show all music"
- disabled "show all music"
- swiped left on the individual songs
- swiped right o the indivual songs
- swiped left on the album
- swiped right on the album
- looked at the music on my iphone using itunes
- looked at the music in itunes
- looked at the music in my account via itunes store
...but the songs (meh, let's call it data, it's the furthest thing from music) cannot be removed from my phone.
What is suprising is that there isn't more online about this album being click bait in the itunes store, or, how to truthfully and successfully remove data from the phone when you need to.
Yes, in the past, the swip feature worked for me. But, in this case, it does not.
HALP HALP HALP HALP HALP
If you can't delete the song, it's probably because it isn't actually on the device and the song would stream from the cloud if played. It is frustrating to see references to the songs listed and not be able to remove them. I would suggest creating a playlist with all the songs you want to hear and ignoring the songs that iTunes lists.
I have the similar problem. I have two tracks on my phone that I can't get rid of. I have deleted everything else but these two won't go. I have never purchased them in any way and I have never imported them from a cd, I don't even like them. What's more when I plug int iTunes the tracks do not appear on the screen. How about this then, they are two different tracks. One is ndubz and the other is stooshe and when I play them they both play the ndubz track. I am seriously considering a factory reset and hope they don't come back
According to my device, psrichmond, the song tracks (data) only exists in the cloud but they always play in my shuffle. However, the artist nor the tracks appear in my iCloud list.
If I download the track (cloud w/down arrow icon), yes, I can swipe left and delete them from the device, but, it just says they're in the cloud again.
Lastly, neither this album name nor the artist appears in my purchase history.
In fact, as of today, I cannot view my purchased (nor hidden) albums.
Also, because of this problem, I cannot sync my music because certain files (which are in my purchased list) are not sync'd to my computer. The sync fails, so, I cannot segregate using a playlist because the sync fails.
Swervin0053 and I are apparently in the same boat.
😟
Figured it out - if you have two apple profiles (pre-iCloud @me.com account) and a non-@icloud.com apple ID, you'll get into this totally fubar'd state.
Best to make sure you logout of your current apple store id and login as the alternative ID so you can see what's what.
I wish Apple would just merge these two accounts down into one, call it @iCloud.com and move on.
Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!
did you swipe from right to left?
Same problem, what I did was sync my ipod and selected my 'Purchased' playlist (or if its not just purchased music you might wanna try ticking entire library) then after I synced it and I had all my unwanted music on my ipod I just unticked the playlist and synced it again and it managed to remove them all off my ipod.
DallasFan6! had the solution that worked for me too. After a day of frustration, I am glad that the solution was found here.
Again, here are the steps:
1. Turn ON "show all music"
2. Download the songs that you couldn't delete by clicking on the cloud icon next to the song name
3. Turn OFF "show all music"
4. Swipe right to left on the song
5. Hit delete
Ok.. I tied that and it worked for most but not all. In the end I took advice from Ingrid Lorena some where back on this post. Turn off your Apple ID and then turn it back on. This worked for me. Many thanks to all on here
