Not working. Nothing's wrong with the gyroscope. It's a bug. Apple must fix it.

My gyroscope is working fine, I've tried a couple of games that need gyroscope, everything OK. Except for the main screen. I always have to restart and it temporarily gets fixed.

My guess is that is a bug related to bluetooth keyboards. I've observed that it usually happens after using my bluetooth keyboard for a while.

Hi ramura, I discovered my Pages front page was stuck in Portait view. I work in Landscape view. I tried a restart and a hard restart, but no joy. I referred to a book I have called The Ultimate Beginners' Guide to iPad. It's a UK publication. It is terrific except no index, can you believe and the TOC id split throughout the book. Both a major pain in the you know where. Anyway, I found out about locking it in Portrait mode. Maybe it was locked and all I had ro do was go to Settings and unlock the mode of view!

Maybe, right, no such luck. It wasn't locked. Anyway, I got this bright idea, what if I do lock it, even though it is "stuck" in Portrait view, then unlock it. Who knows, it might work and become truly unlocked and swing into Landscape. Worth a try, right?

Wrong!

I locked it then when I tried to unlock the mode from Portrait View it too was stuck! So Pages is stuck in Portrait, and now the lock is stuck in Portrait.

Well, out of curiosity I thought I would take a peek at the documents. As it happened I didn't have a document open in Pages or even created. I had been working on my computer in Word and, frankly, I had forgotten about Pages.

As you know, Word won't work on iPad, one has to work in Pages then save as in Word.

Guess what? The documents are offered in portrait or landscape, take your pick! So if you want to work in Landscape you can.

Why don't you open up your Pages and create a blank document. You can choose to do so in Lanscape!

Sorry to be so long winded, but I wanted you to see that I had pretty much tried everything. You always find what you are looking for last, have you ever noticed that?

Good Luck,

Hi again ramura, some more good news. I thought you would be interested.

I did some work as a test on a blank page in Landscape per my previous reply. I fiddled with other settings like title, font and so forth, all ok.

I went to close the document, but couldn't find any save to etc. Anyway, I just tapped "Documents" top left corner and it went to bed as it should. I opened it with a tap and it remained in Landscape. So far so good.

I noticed that all the work I had done in Word on my Mac mini had synced over and was stored in pages. I was dumbfounded. This was getting better and better, BUT with a sinking heart I noticed that they were "all" saved in portrait view mode! I mean maybe 60 or more documents.

Well here goes nothing I thought and I tapped one at random. It opened in Landscape. I tapped another, it opened in Landscape.

My iPad was in Landscape and though I didn't try it out as I had no real need, I suspect that if I had the iPad in Portrait my other docs would have opened in Portrait. Anyway, all's well that ends well, sayeth the bard! And he is right, of course.

I hope that my answer will help you and other members who read this.

Good Luck once more, Gilli2000

Hi jisstuht,

I have answered your problem on page 7.

Actually, I answered ramura as I thought it was just Pages for him that was stuck in Portrait, but I can see his iPad as a whole is stuck in Portrait.

Fortunately mine isn't, just Pages, but as you will see when you read my two replies, Pages isn't really stuck at all. It's just that that wonderful Apple team has changed the way of doing things without a word of explanation. We have to find out for ourselves the hard way.

Anyway, go to page 7 and read my two replies there.

Good Luck,

I did this too. My friends' iPad would not properly rotate after the iOS 7.0.4 update. Applications would open upside down in portrait view! Home screen would not rotate at all, no matter what position the side switch was in.

I found her side switch in the "off" (orange showing) position and moved it to the upward (no orange) position. Oppened Settings, selcted USE SIDE SWITCH TO: Mute. Moved side switch to the "off" position, then back to the "on" position. Reselcted USE SIDE SWITCH TO: Lock Rotation.

Re-booted the iPad. (I shut down and restarted using only the power button.)

Everything works fine now.

This was an issue with the iOS 6.0.1 too.

This issue is related to the gesture feauture on iPads and iPads Mini running iOS7 (any .version). That's why it doesn't happen on iPhones.

After swtching hand gesture to 'off' under Settings, I haven't had this issue anymore.

This is only a temp fix for me as Apple clearly needs to address to this problem ASAP. Also, I use that feautre a lot (or at least used to).

You guys should try that and report if it helped.

Nothing but trouble on ipad 3 since upgrade to ios7. No problems at all before that with anything.

All buttons stopped working as well as rotation and screenlock with upgrade to ios7

Reset the iPad, restored via iTunes. No help.

Was about to give up on this iPad but suddenly everything started working again.

I'm my case after forgetting it in the car, very cold outside, but probably a fluke.

I am pretty much expecting it to stop working again until I see some confirmation of all this

Ah well, confusing...

After ios 7 update on ipad mini, auto rotation stop working. Anyone facing this issue too?
