Music not syncing after iOS 7 update

7.0.3 is the worst yet. Not even restoring iOS 7 and setting up as a new iPod Touch allows it to work. Somewhere between 3,000 and 5,000 songs, my 64 GB Touch enters "derp mode", where it gets stuck for ages on "Waiting for changes to be applied" after copying the music to the device. During this time, iTunes CPU usage and disk activity is nil, while the Touch CPU usage averages around 60%. If I go into the Music app, I see that all artists after a certain point have songs that are grayed out with icons on the right that are "red circles around red squares". As I watch, the songs turn black, and the icons disappear, at a rate of one song every three seconds. Once in derp mode, it never gets any better. Syncing no changes can take hours, and all the while, the Touch is at 60% CPU usage. I determined the song range by syncing various subsets of my master playlist by genre; that is, I created a bunch of genre-specific playlists and sync'd them one by one, and I did this several times, in several orders. If there is a bad song, I can't determine a pattern. I have iTunes convert to 128 Kbps AAC, and for these tests, all are ALAC to begin with. This never happened with iOS 6, and with iOS 7 before 7.0.3, I could at least restore iOS 7, set up as a new iPod Touch, NOT restore a backup, and sync my music. This no longer works.

been using iphone4 for 3and half years......never have much problems with syncing music

the most basic function and also one of the function that got apple famous is now down.....apple should fix this quick

remember when steve jobs said, iphone=a phone, an ipod, an internet communicator......ipod is one cruical part of iphone!!!!!

Someone should call apple and refer to this post. This is a real big issue. I could sync all music to iphone but when I wanted them in different playlists it failed. Even omce when I did all this and wanted to add a new song it removed some songs. Its a big failure from apples side.

I cant even get someone on the phone without having to pay for it.

This is rediculous, already had problems with series I bought (season 1-5 of breaking bad) and now music which I need for sports.

Not even the last updat of itunes fixed this, seems to me Apple doesnt care about the people who have this problem.

I opinion of Apple keeps dropping and dropping.

I have the same problem. I´ve tried all the different solutions that worked for someone but my problem is still here. I really don´t know why apple has still no fixed this problem. Is a very big problem and they are not taking care at all.

This is the part where I point out that the Moto X is freaking amazing. I saw it at a conference recently and it pretty much blew my 4S out of the water.

I have no loyalty to Apple as a brand. As soon as their products stop being the best, I jump ship.

Mavericks looks great, but the revamped iWork feels like it was made for school kids.

iOS 7 looks great, but is actually pretty sluggish.

I'm about to jump ship...

Other companies get crap for less... why is this not all over the media!??

How does Apple expect me to continue buying songs from iTunes? Forget that! Looks like I will be going back to buying CDs and looking for a different alternative to having music on the go... I have over 1.5T of music... hundreds of CDs that I have moved to iTunes, another couple of hundreds of iTunes purchases.... this s-u-c-ks big time....!@#$%@#$%

I bought a couple of songs yesterday on my iPhone and can't sync them with my iMac via iTunes...

I don't understand why iTunes isn't downloading the new songs automaticly... "Search for available downloads" brings up "There are no available downloads for this Apple-ID" ... but there IS -_-

Same issue. Synched fine yesterday with 7.0.2, and been synching fine since 7

Updated to 7.0.3 and iTunes 11.1.2.31.

Put new songs in my library on iTunes, click sync, does a 'sync', check phone, songs not there.

Delete songs from iTunes library, click sync, does a 'sync', songs still on iPhone.

Untick Sync Music in iTunes, click sync, iPhone free space indicator goes from 9Gb to 12 Gb, sync completes, iPhone free space indicator goes from 12Gb back to 9Gb, check phone and all music is there..

With this update i cannot sync AT ALL. Nothing that i do in iTunes is reflected on the phone. It just ignores it completely.

It's ludicrous this was allowed to come out in this state.

And "Smart" Playlists are probably still broken i bet.

hey Andy -- one step that "worked" (as in, a temp fix until they really fix this egregious problem) for me is making sure to uncheck "Sync Music", and do a full sync removing all music from the phone, then rechecking it so then all the songs are added back WITH the new ones.

similar to what you did but a little different and may help you out. but yes, every time I have to add songs, I need to resync everything, which is ridiculous.

APPLE IT WOULD BE SUPER IF YOU WOULD ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. KTHX

I updated to 7.0.3, with the latest iTunes, and now my iTunes seems to think that my 32G iphone 5 only has 16G. It'll synch everything, but won't let me go above approx 16.3GB. Anyone else seeing this issue?

guys, why don't we bomb apple.com/feedback with bug reports over and over and over and over and include a link to this discussion thread in every one. I've submitted 10 so far today. Maybe if we all just keep doing it someone will finally get back to one of us.

This is a great idea. Can someone please write a form letter that we can all post. There are many other threads dicussing this issue. But this one is by the longest and oldest around. We are in this together my friends.

I did try that. Unfortunately unticking to sync music in iTunes doesn't do anything either! I can untick Sync Music and click sync, the sync 'runs' but all my music stays on the iPhone.

I'll see if i can delete everything from the phone manually and start again.

If not i guess it's manual backup time, delete my music from iTunes and try a restore. Eugh, only just got this phone and set up how i wanted it..

Yesterday, after update my 4s and iTunes to the last versions, I'm one more time stuck on "Waiting for changes...". After various attemps: Cancel sync, reboot phone, close iTunes, reboot computer... when I was thinking that I would need to delete and copy again all my music, I had reach to finish a right sync but I don't know what of this things has worked:

- Uncheck Show cloud purchases.

- Repair Permissions.

- Delete my Smart Playlists and create them again.

I hope this will help.
