Music not syncing after iOS 7 update

I updated to iOS7 on my iPhone 4 and less than half of my music is syncing to my phone. Any thoughts? I am already hating this update for more than one reason and this is adding icing to the cake...

Are you restoring your iOS 6 backup either from iTunes or iCloud? As I wrote earlier in this thread, the only thing that stabilized my Touch for music was NOT to restore my iOS 6 backup. It's been good since I bit the bullet and started over from scratch, but as it turned out, it wasn't entirely from scratch. I wrote a little bit more about the process:

After upgrading to iOS 7 and several hours of use, music started to go missing. I restored iOS 7 in iTunes and resync'd 50 GB of music (size on device after being transcoded on-the-fly to 128 Kbps AAC), and even though the iTunes progress indicator ticked off all 12,000 songs, it got stuck on "Waiting for changes to be applied", and after 8+ hours, it never finished. So, I unplugged the Touch, and I found it only had about 4,000 songs on it. When I plugged it back into iTunes, iTunes reported over 30 GB of "Other", which I guess represents the orphaned corrupt songs. I went through several rounds of this, and the only thing that helped was to not restore my iCloud backup. Fortunately, I didn't lose all my settings. The Safari bookmarks and iBooks current page info were preserved thanks to iCloud (separate from "backups", which again I did not restore), and my Tapatalk ID kept my subscribed forums intact. I use Converter+ and used that program's Email Template feature to email myself all my custom templates, which contain links to install the templates, so I didn't lose them. Of course, I had to re-enter all my passwords for Tapatalk and Safari.

I repaired iTunes and did a hard reset on my phone and when I connected with the cable, it synced the 2 playlists that I checked. But when I changed and checked "Sync entire music library" or even checked more playlists to sync, it was back to being stuck at "Waiting for changes to be applied"

I tried everything mentionned here and none of them worked for me 😟

So I tried everything above, and finally found out what was causing my issue. On your phone go to Music and select More at the bottom. Under the Shared option, make sure your entire music library is selected. My phone only had what I had purchased on my iphone selected, not my entire music library. As soon as i choose Music Library all of my songs magically appeared, without having to sync again.

Just tried to resync after unchecking a few songs on iTunes. It still won't sync but at least my songs are on my phone.

"Shared" feature in Music app came out if I turned on "Home Sharing" in my iTunes File menu.

After this, I did Clevergirl's method. It took a while. Maybe because I have about 25,000 songs in my iTunes.

Finally, I tried to sync two playlists containing 400 songs. The sync got cancelled after 150 more songs.

This "Home Sharing" feature is just for your iPhone to access your whole music in your iTunes, I guess.

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH !!! This worked for me !!

I turned the Home Sharing on on my phone Settings > Music > Home Sharing and then I synced and it still stayed stuck at "Waiting for changes to be applied". And then I also turned the Home Sharing on on my iTunes : File > Home Sharing. The syncing is still stuck but all my songs finally appeared on my phone !!

Was having the same issue on my 4s -- music would not sync at all, and iTunes would be stuck in an endless sync that's not doing anything.

The solution for me was to use the "Restore iPhone" button in iTunes to restore the phone to factory settings. Once I did that, music started syncing right away.

This is a DRASTIC STEP. It will erase all your apps, and you will have to re-download them. Thankfully, they were backed up to iCloud.

MAKE SURE YOU DO A MANUAL BACKUP BEFORE YOU RESTORE!!! You will regret it if you don't. Back up to your computer, not iCloud! Do a full, encrypted backup that way, and restore from that after the phone comes back.

Give yourself a half hour at least to do this.

Good luck!
