I have this same problem. But the lag with only when trying to access the menu bar or podcast related times. Once you switch to another section of iTunes it is fully responsive again. I blocked my internet connection to iTunes for a while and that seemed to solve the problem. So there is definately something buggy with background syncing of podcast subscriptions.

Just as obviously a bug - but no-one else has mentioned it: quitting iTunes 11.1 while leaving the iPhone (at least 4S, 7.0.2) connected to a USB dock causes iTunes repeatedly to relaunch - even though synching is complete.

Anyone else?

Seriously, I don't understand how they can have a garbage like iTunes when their main product is based on it... It's a shame.

There appear to be two new bugs (and the fact that they're new ought to mean a fix is easier to identify) introduced in iTunes 11.1:

1. switching to the Podcasts tab with a device connected temporarily hangs the program
2. ejection of a device doesn't 'stick': iTunes 11.1 repeatedly relaunches itself.

Anyone installed 11.1.1 - which has some fixes, but doesn't claim specifically to address this one?

The auto-relaunch after an iDevice has been unmounted seems fixed.

But the delay when clicking on the Podcasts tab with a device attached is as long as ever :-(

Same problem with podcast section major lag in 11.1.1 update.

Just updated to 11.1.1 and still having issues with SModco podcasts in the My Podcasts view. Again, it's only those specific ones that are missing artwork and making itunes lag. Adding artwork still doesn't help, it still shows up missing. So I guess for me the only thing to do is either continue just listening to Smodco podcasts on Stitcher or use List view, but apparently i'm one of the few that don't really like List view. Hopefully something fixes this eventually

Podcasts when my Nano 6G is connected to iTunes 11.1.1 behave just as they should: no delay!

See my problem is this is on my computer, without my iPhone plugged in. I think this has something to do specifically with SModcasts. Like in the store it has artwork, but when you subscribe and download there is no artwork embedded you have to copy and paste it in. Before 11.1 when you would paste it in it would then show up like normal but now with 11.1 and 11.1.1 for some reason it's not, which makes iTunes lag when scrolling past them.

I have a feeling your problem is slightly different - though who knows if it's related: missing artwork is one thing.

Barely being able to use iTunes because it can take up to five minutes to switch tabs sounds as though it could be a side effect of what you're experiencing. Good luck!
