Cannot send emails after iOS 7 update

I just updated my iPad 3rd gen and iPhone 5 to iOS 7. Ever since the update, I can receive emails to all my email accounts on both devices, but I can't send emails from either device. Is anyone else having this problem and/or know of a solution?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Thanks, Nikhilfromny! I had thought about doing this before you posted it, but had doubts it was going to work. Since you had success, I decided to give it a try and so far so good. All but one of my accounts are now working, and I contacted that service provider who indicated the problem is from their end. Restarting the device, deleting the accounts and reinstalling them seems to work (I threw in an extra restart before the reinstallation for good measure).

For those who have indicated this has not worked for them, I wish you the best of luck in your quest for a solution. Thank you to everyone who has commented on my question. I greatly appreciate the help.

This is ridiculous : same settings on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 4, all updated to iOS 7.

- Yesterday, couldn't send an email from the iPad.

- This PM : sent a mail without issues from the iPhone 5.

- 3 hours later, didn't change any settings : none of them can send emails from Gmail... works via iCloud, though.

So, would that be a Gmail issue ??

Tried rebooting, deleting, adding,... no change.

EDIT: btw, I have 2-factor authentication... could that be the issue? Now the iPhone 5 says it cannot reach smtp.gmail.com... Outlook and OS X Mail sure do succeed reaching it, though...

This procedure (restart iPhone, delete and then reinstall gmail account) didn't work for me. I've spent the whole morning working on this. I'm a senior Linux sysadmin. I'm still without being able to send email. The error is always, "The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.gmail.com" failed. Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars". Are you kidding me? I deleted and readded this gmail account and Apple can't get it right when it's newly added?? I am stuck and can't do some of my work without this outgoing email capability. Grumble.
