Cannot send emails after iOS 7 update

I just updated my iPad 3rd gen and iPhone 5 to iOS 7. Ever since the update, I can receive emails to all my email accounts on both devices, but I can't send emails from either device. Is anyone else having this problem and/or know of a solution?

This solution posted by "animation person" worked perfectly for my iPad. Go to the SMTP outgoing server settings and re-enter password there.

I found that after the upgrade my password was retained by the settings for incoming messages - but I needed to reenter the password in the outgoing mail server settings in the mail settings in the iphone.. - this fixed the problem with messages not being sent..

Me too. Funny Apple denied there was a problem as in the end I went into store and had Apple care support - they made me try lots of hoops and I gave up their support ticket as clearly or was their problem not mind. Anyway, seems they've sorted but a little more honesty and customer respect would have been nice

I've been faffing round with getting outgoing emails to send on an "other" IMAP account for the past week since I upgraded to iOS 7.1.1

I have just managed to get things working on my iPhone 4S by doing the following;

Settings >> Mail, Contacts, Calendars >> select email account >> Account >>

Under "OUTGOING MAIL SERVER" >> SMTP >> Primary Server >>

Delete the Password and under Authentication, select something other than Password. Back out, and tap Done to verify. It won't, and after a few minutes will give an error message.

Go back in to Authentication and set it to Password again. Back out.

Re-enter the Password (also for me, SSL is on and Server Port is 587) and tap Done to verify.

When verification is complete, work your way back out of the settings tapping Done in the top right corner whenever its available.

Press the home and off/one button together to shut down the iPhone.

When it starts backup, outgoing SMTP mails send as normal (for me anyway).

Phew!

I'm heading home now to try this again on my iPad mini retina, and also on my sister's iPhone 4S, so fingers crossed that it will work there too. I'll confirm later what happens.

I have a similar problem. I work for a small company that has Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 set up. After upgrading an iphone 4 to the latest release the mail cannot connect to server. I have tried resetting network settings resetting phone restoring to defaults, deleted the mail account and recreated it, and checked the inherit from parent objects is checked in the active directory and none of it worked. I am unable to update the exchange server just for one phone so was wondering if there were any other solutions that I could try.

Thank you.

I tried that but no luck. I also checked the phone partnerships thing online and there was only one, the iphone still I deleted it anyway just to try that too but no, still same error, can't connect to server. I should say that yes the user had changed his password (mandatory every 3 months) and didn't change it on his phone. Initially I thought this was the problem as well but even after changing the password and retyping it on the phone and doing all of th above the problem still persists

I apologize. I just re-read your previous post and now realize your issue is with your iPhone whereas mine was with my iPad. I don't know if the iOS' are the same. But, my issue was corrected two updates ago. It appears that poster UNHAPI had the same result with the update. And to his/her point, it'd be nice if Apple would at least acknowledge there was and still is an issue and take steps to correct it.
