EVEN after getting a new cable, new laptop, restarting, it is still not working. I keep getting different error codes. Now I just received error code 2001, 2002, and 2006. I checked the error code page and it is still not working. Doesn't apple realize that their products run our lives? Why is it taking so long for an apple representative to respond?

Alright I got mine to work. Try this

  1. Connect the device to iTunes.
  2. Confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
  3. Restore and wait for the error.
  4. When prompted, click OK.
  5. Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
  6. The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode.
  7. Try to restore again.

Key point is to put it into Recovery Mode. Also watch the cable.

The same boot screen for my I-pad 2, and it's not a good sign. The best think to do is "nothing", take an appointment with genius bar and wait for it. But since that moment leave the telephone alone. I suggest that devices have been looping in a blocked state, cause when u try to restore they stuck!! like a jailbreak protection, even if we are installing an official release. It's not obviously an hardware problem even cause the devices worked perfectly before the updating so...guis be patient.

Spent hours trying everything suggested and finally this morning hit on a solution. iTunes must be run as an administrator. Even though you are logged into your PC as an administrator, using the iTunes shortcut does not make you an administrator in iTunes. I found this out by using the diagnostics in iTunes and reading through the results report.

I am using Windows 7, so I clicked the start button and right clicked on iTunes and selected "Run as an adimistrator". The first restore attempt got the 4013 error. I then did the DFU thing, hold power and home buttons for 10 seconds, release power and continue holding home for 10 more seconds.

iTunes gave me the restore message and I clicked it. I clicked the restore iPhone button and it started. The drivers loaded a couple of times. I got the apple logo with the progress bar and this time instead of disappearing, it started to fill in.

End result, a successful restore to factory settings and a happy 14 year old.

Hope this helps others.

I've reconnected usb cable, while the itunes was waiting for iphone, when iphone was displaing the apple logo ad the progress bar,the thin line uder the logo! I guess u guys are having problem with the data connector on your Iphones just like I do sometimes! Probably the contacts are a bit oxydised from high humidity conditions or weather! Anyway worked for me! 🙂 Next time use wi-fi connection to do an update without cable connection! Much safer! Trust me!

Error 4013 is due to security software issues. Uninstall all security software completely, try again, if the issue persists please contact AppleCare tech support at 1-800-APL-CARE (for US customers).

Note- this is even if your device worked fine prior to iOS 7 update with your security software. The change in the operating system on the device can cause compatiability issues with these other programs.

I hope this helps it worked for me! 🙂

DFU mode is also good thing to attempt first as it is quicker and easier to try -

  1. Plug your device into your computer.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Hold the Home button and Power button for 10 seconds
  4. Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
  5. Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode

Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present, device screen should remain black.

Be carefull, this is a major error on IOS 7 upgrade! Apple has no real solution for this one and offer a standard exchange of your iPhone... But make sure that your iPhone is in a perfect shape otherwise Apple will answer that it is due to a hardware break due to a iPhone shock And will not cover your IPhone by the warranty!

Simple.

1. Make sure you are running the latest verion of itunes.

2. Exit iTunes and unplug your iDevice

3. Make sure you are running itunes as an administrator, i.e. right click on the iTunes icon from your Programs menu (NOT THE SHORTCUT) and click on "Run as Administrator."

4. Plug in your iDevice and when it is recognized click on Restore.

Wait for the magic to happen.

(If on the first attempt your iDevice refuses to restore, hold the power and home buttons for 10 seconds and when you see the Apple logo continue holding for aanother 10 seconds the proceed from Step 2.)
