iOs 7 on iPad 3

Hello there.

I have ipad 3, new ipad with 16gb and 3g hardware.

Did you notice battery drain? I had my battery down in something like 4.30 hours.

The keyboard is really slow, i noticed an important lag during the use of it!

Wifi perfomance is really bad.

The only thing the customer care answered me is that they have no information about this, and i'm the only one experencing this problem........

Someone noticed the same?

Thanks

After reading all kind of questions and answers regarding to IOS 7 and IPAD 3, i would like to adress that for me, the ipad 3 has been so far a great professional and academic tool, with great performance and overall a great user experience, and that is precisely what i have lost with this new update. Its not just lag people, (i can live with a few lag here and there), but the in app experience that has been severely compromised too. I agree that totally restoring the device helps a lot, but even so, things that used to be so smooth like zooming in and out pdf files on pdf reader apps (goodreader/pdf expert and a lot more), are now impossible to do eficientlly. Try by example zooming in a pdf file and scroll it up or down and you will see how the ipad 3 struggles on rendering what in IOS 6 was executed effortlessly. The lag issues are important, i want no lag at all, but the impact in overall performance makes me wonder if apple will ever adress THAT issue. I love IOS 7, i think it has a nice design but i would prefer less eye candy, lesser animations and a better user experience. We all have different uses for our ipads, and i think that having such dispar opinions must lead us to one conclusion: ios 7 needs seriously improvements on ipad 3. Some people would think that IOS 7 is ok, others would not. Everyone pushes their hardware in so different ways, to me its pdfs, for other who knows. So apple team, i hope to recover THAT experience that made me buy apple and no samsung or sony. APPLE.

7.0.2 did not contain iPad fixes because, according to Apple, there are no problems with iPad retina and iOS 7 that need to be fixed. First they need to admit that there ARE problems.

I agree with the post stating that iOS 6.x worked smoothly. It and was "perfect" for my business/ education/personal needs compared to the competition.

It has now become a source of frustration. I'm sad :(

I've been using iOS 7 on my 64GB iPad 3 since the release. My iPad is fairly loaded with apps and stuff. I use it a lot. I have not had any issues other than the wallpaper update delay which doesn't bother me since I don't change wallpapers very often. I see no lag anywhere. In fact some things seem snappier. Overall I'm very satisfied with the upgrade.

This article from gottagomobile.com is somewhat encouraging:

iOS 7 Is Still Laggy

That said, iOS 7 still has quite a big of lag in iOS 7.0.2. When we first installed iOS 7, things like the new multitasking, shifting the orientation from portrait to landscape and back and opening up folders weren’t snappy and were clunky. This lag remains in iOS 7.0.2 as all three of these still offer up slow down, slow down that can be significant on occasion.

We are still encountering lag issues in iOS 7.0.2.

We still want to blame the fact that the iOS 7 iPad update didn’t spend as much time in the beta period as the iPhone update. Remember, we had heard that the iOS 7 update for iPad was still a little bit unsettled ahead of its release.

So we’re holding out hope that Apple is still working out the kinks and is working to optimize the software for its older devices. Perhaps, an iOS 7.1 update will fix things.

Yes, oh my God. a lot of things are painfully slow. I have an iPad 3 as well. For some reason when I sync my iPad I have a large amount of the "other category" which I think is making it slow. The new look is ok, and the ideas are nice, but it's really annoying and I wish I could revert back to ios 6. Is anyone having a problem with their email and scaling photos?

I had most of these problems before the battery drained completely, (while it was sitting there with the smart cover shut). Now it will not charge (wall charger & original cord, and some aftermarket cords, have tried everything) and is stuck at 1% in a boot loop, loop restarts when it hits the lock screen and returns to the red battery screen. I'm so mad! Cust service suggests an upgrade to a 4 and that they are hearing nothing about these problems. Srsly? $@#*!

WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T LET YOUR BATTERY RUN FLAT!!!!!!!

I am having the same problem as this.

My initial experience with the update wasn't as bad as others here although I did notice the general slow down and the typing lag and definitely the problems with the multi tasking bar. Oh and also the wallpaper sizing. I also didn't like the design much, particularly of the task bar, that frosted glass look was really ******** me.

However I had grown familiar with the new design and was getting comfortable with it. I updated around 3 or 4 days ago. I was starting to think everything was going to be ok and I would get over my problems until......

I forgot to charge overnight last night and this morning my battery was below 20% so I plugged it in and used it as usual. After around 2-3 hours, maybe a bit more it was down at 5%. That's the last I noticed it at because not too long after that the thing just shut down.

After that i am stuck in a boot loop. I left it for hours and it didn't charge. First it shows the dead battery symbol for a few seconds then it has the apple logo for closer to a minute, then it flashes my lock screen for less than a second before it shows the little spinnning circle it as while shutting down before it all goes black. Then if I have it plugged into the wall it starts the loop again after a minute or 2 of nothing. If I have it plugged into the computer it seems to take about 5 mins to try and start up again. If it is unplugged it doesn't loop, it just dies.

I contacted apple support via the chat system and was told to do a system restore via ITunes. The computer I used had never connected to my IPad but my back up is on the cloud. I tried to restore through ITunes but the red battery screen appeared again once it had finished the restore and told me the IPad would reboot and reconnect with ITunes shortly, then the boot loop resumed, however now there is no longer the flash of the lock screen in the loop. So I tried this again after 45 minutes of further charging with the phone continuing to loop. Again everything went as planned during the system restore until it finished and rebooted the IPad.

I will try again tomorrow morning after a full night being plugged in boot looping but I don't like my chances as it doesn't seem to be taking any charge at all while it is looping.

Apple support advised me that they were confident it was a hardware issue and I would need to take it in to get repaired, probably replacing the battery (which was fine and had not shown any signs of reduced capacity prior to the update). When I asked them if they were aware of the problems users were having they simply told me (quoting from memory) "I have seen many IPad 3's that have been updated and do not have any problems with charging or maintaining charge, I have also seen many that have had other problems but have started working again after a restore."

It is clearly not a hardware problem since it has happened to at least 2 other people on this forum that I have seen (I haven't checked every page of the thread). If it is a hardware problem now then it was caused by the update, if it was just random hardware death then I wouldn't be finding others here who had the same problems. Unfortunately none of this matters to Apple support who simply won't accept it could be related to the update.

So basically what I would advise anyone else with an IPad 3 who has already updated is...........

Does this cable crack down effect IPad 3 Retinas purchased around May 2012 that still have the old style cables?

My original cable had it long ago and I purchased my current cables in various countries in Asia while travelling so I have no reason to be conifdent that they are official.

Also my IPad was charging without any warnings coming up regarding the cable, it just had a new charging symbol with the lightning sitting just next to the battery image instead of inside it.
