iOs 7 on iPad 3

Hello there.

I have ipad 3, new ipad with 16gb and 3g hardware.

Did you notice battery drain? I had my battery down in something like 4.30 hours.

The keyboard is really slow, i noticed an important lag during the use of it!

Wifi perfomance is really bad.

The only thing the customer care answered me is that they have no information about this, and i'm the only one experencing this problem........

Someone noticed the same?

Thanks

I'm going to let mine run flat today to test it. I have seen posts about infinite boot loops after upgrading iPad 3 to iOS 7 here and elsewhere. I don't think it is specifically related to discharging/recharging. The strange thing is that most of these reports of infinite boot loops occur a day or two after the OS update rather than immediately. Some people are saying that this has something to do with the OS blocking certain unofficial charging devices. It seems to occur even with people using the official charger also, though, so it's hard to figure out what's going on. My condolences to those that are having an even worse time than I with the update. Crossing my fingers for 7.1 for everyone.

I've had endless problems with the the AppStore app since upgrading to iOS 7.0 (and 7.0.2 thereafter) on my iPad 3.

The AppStore will often open with a white screen, with no icons or icon place holders on. The screen can stay like this for 30+ minutes. When the AppStore does eventually load, searches result in "Unable to Connect" errors more often than not. Resubmitting the search often results in the appstore freezing (although the busy icon continues to animate). Downloads often start, but never download, leaving a grey place holder icon on the desktop.

I've tried:-

Closing all running apps and restarting my iPad. This has no effect.

Resetting all settings and restarting improves matters, but only for a few searches.

Logging out of my apple id, restarting my iPad 3 (by holding home+sleep/wake until the apple logo appears) and then opening the AppStore. The AppStore opens fine and I'm able to search without any problems. Strangely enough, previous uninstalled app purchases still show up as cloud icons, which suggests the iOS 7 AppStore caches data locally. If I download an app (at which point I'm prompted to sign in) the app downloads fine. However, the problems return on the very next search.

Restoring my iPad's firmware with/without restore from backup. The AppStore works again fine for an hour or so after signing into my apple id, then the problems return.

I strongly suspect iOS 7 caches app purchases. The evidence for a cache can be seen by signing out of your apple id, restarting you iPad and searching the appstore for an app you own: The download icons are shown as if you were signed in, right up until you try to download something, at which point you rightly get get asked for your apple id. Also, from the moment you sign into your apple id, "other data" grows continuously at a rate of 0.1Mb every 2 minutes.

I also suspect that the more apps (free or otherwise) associated with your apple id, then the larger the cache grows. At some point it probably gets too large for the iPads memory (not SSD space), at which point the app store becomes slow or unresponsive.

I had no problems using the iOS 6 app store (or indeed the iOS 5 app store for that matter). The problems started the moment I installed iOS 7. The problem isn't connection related either: iTunes connects to the appstore fine, as does my iPad right up until I login my apple id.

I've reported this to feedback and contacted support to no avail.

I sincerely hope Apple have a rethink about caching. The AppStore is their bread and butter. Anything that impairs access to it costs them money (I can't purchase an app if I can't open the AppStore!).

I wouldn't mind so much if I could revert to 6.1.3 while all of these problems are worked out (for 7.1?), but as it is, I'm now stuck with iOS 7 whether I like it or not, and whether it works or not.

I finally got my iPad 3 to boot back up. My problem was the charger. Even though I had tried original accessories, they didn't charge it either. Apparently the 10w charger doesn't have enough juice to boot the iPad up if you let it die. I had to go drop $40 on a 12w & a new cable. Well played, Apple. Anyways, when I got it back on, I immediately turned everything off and put it in airplane mode, reset the settings, and disabled all notifications. It charges fine now if you're not using it during charge. My smart cover doesn't put it to sleep anymore, so that's another thing to watch for. Someone told me that the rules that ios7 has about chargers and cords are so strict, that even if your cable is a wee bit damaged Apple will consider it an aftermarket charger and not charge the device. For the record, I never got the this accessory is not supported warning. Anyways, All my cables looked fine, but buying a new one did the trick so...

Hope this works for you too, and good luck!! And Apple, @&$% you for making buy more expensive accessories for an already expensive device. This is my first & last Apple product ever.

I purchased my first Apple product last year. 2 iPod 6 Nanos. I really liked them. A few months later I purchased 2 iPad 3's. I was very impressed , so I purchased another iPad for my parents. Then I bought 4 iPod Nano 7's for my family, I liked the Bluetooth feature.

Then.....

Along comes iOS7, and everything changed. Getting threatened by the Apple forum police for just asking a simple question..."How do I revert back from iOS7 to iOS6?" I was told it was "Inappropriate Activity"

They removed my posting and locked me out of the forum for awhile. It was just a question!

I was planning on buying 2 new iMac's, both 27", top of the line units early next year...

Now, Apple can pound sand. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN APPLE PRODUCT AGAIN!

The behavior of the Apple forum moderators should not be tolerated.

Shame on them.

Sincerely, Brian Schöenly

It's quite incredible that we still can't see new app upgrading in our homepage...

I called again to the apple customer care and they told me again that they hve never listened about these problems...

Background still can't be changed with our photos and my bttery still going down in 4 hours... I will buy a new tablet because i can't use this one anymore...

Thanks apple...

Really really bad, your way to care about the devices and about your customers was the only reason i buy an ipad, don't worry, necer again.

After a full night on charge while boot looping mine managed to come back and was ready and waiting for me to complete the recovery process. I was using a 10w iPad charger i got from a mall in Indonesia. It looked original but i am not confident it is.

I did some research online last night and could only see any references to the newer iPhones being subject to this charger chip feature, definitely didn't see anything official that mentioned IPad 3rd Gen.

I just finished applying for the 12 month interest free deal to buy two new iPhones, one for me and the other for my mrs.

Now, after this experience I am seriously considering a switch to android. I can't afford to be paying $20-40 every time i step on or lose a stupid little cable. That's just greedy money grabbing from a company that already takes more profit than it should.

Really ****** off with Apple.

add me to the list. my iPad 3 WAS awesome. w

With iOS 7, sadly, it restarts itself at least 1x per day, apps are barely useable, web pages load slowly, iTunes Store video content fails to download constantantly and continuously.

No amount of reset or restore has made a **** bit of difference.

I want a refund for my iPad and AppleCare+ or a replacement that works.

This is ****.

My wife's iPad mini works fine.

Seriously W T F?

If your iPad was working perfectly well prior to installing Apple's iOS7 and now it's virtually unusable then if you have Applecare then I would have thought you would have some redress over what Apple has done to your iPad. Otherwise what's the point of having Applecare if Apple aren't going to acknowledge their responsibility!

I fixed the web page loading slowly bug by downloading a browser app. It runs much faster than Safari for some reason. Safari used to be fast but after the iOS 7 update it is extremely slow at loading web pages. I use one of the free browser apps now for my general browsing. I will go back to Safari if 7.1 fixes the sow loading issue.
