iOs 7 on iPad 3

Hello there.

I have ipad 3, new ipad with 16gb and 3g hardware.

Did you notice battery drain? I had my battery down in something like 4.30 hours.

The keyboard is really slow, i noticed an important lag during the use of it!

Wifi perfomance is really bad.

The only thing the customer care answered me is that they have no information about this, and i'm the only one experencing this problem........

Someone noticed the same?

Thanks

Ipad 3 with cellular here. Just 'upgraded' to ios7… wow!, it took a serious performance hit. Loved my ipad before this, now it seems really slow. Thought I would change the wallpaper to go with the new OS. I thought my ipad froze when I selected 'set both'. It took over 20 seconds of unresponsive ness to close out and set the background.

I will mention that I restoredf rom an iCloud backup. Think there is some settings that should be changed?

I already went into accessibility and ticked 'reduce motion' to try to salvage some battery life and responsiveness. Anything else to try?

You could try and disable Background App-Refresh under Settings -> General

But i think that a Reset through iTunes might help solving most Performance Troubles.

  1. Backup your iPad through iTunes or iCloud Backup
  2. Go to iTunes and Hit "Restore iPad" (this will reset your iPad fully, including loss of all unsaved data)
  3. When done, restore from Backup

I´ve made the expierence that many Problems are solved by restoring through iTunes

People experiencing battery issues need to note a few things:

1. First, use only official Apple chargers and cords. Why wouldn't you? It came with them.

2. Your battery life degrades over time(especially if you abuse it, i.e, run it flat or trickle charge it overnight, every night). These batteries are a couple years old now. A new Ipad3 battery takes 5-6 hours to charge. Leaving it trickle charging all night long every night is not recommended, and it will reduce the life of your battery.

3.. My Ipad3 battery still runs strong, charges to 100% in 6 hours, and holds it's charge. How? Well, I charge it only when it needs it and I use the official Apple accessories that it came with. I run the battery to around 5% and then I charge it(during the day) to 100% and immediately take it off the charger. At night, I turn my Ipad off. Do you need your Ipad running while you sleep? Apps and resources are still being used when your Ipad is not in use. Turn it off when not in use. Also go to Settings>General>Background App Refresh and turn it off.

My .02 and it works for me, applies to the phone too.

From above: 4. Also turning off (Push data) and then only fetching data every 15min

From my previous post^ you can see that I don't have battery issues with iOS7.

I do, however, note that the Ipad3 is noticeably slower, especially in the brightness/wallpaper settings area. I have turned off Parallax, Background App Refresh, and turned off all non-essential Location Services. I also performed full reset of settings and a Hard Reset. The device is still sluggish in some areas.

iOS7 seems to be a resource hog, plain and simple.

Not in response to prior poster... comment in general.

I'm experiencing the same problems. I'm glad I'm not alone. We just got a brand new iPad about two months ago, which is in pristine condition and has only used the manufacturer supplied cable for charging. We have had no problems with the unit, until the recent iOS update at which time the battery recharging has been horribly slow. This is not an exaggeration. The unit will only charge about 3-5% in one hour now. This is not acceptable. I am glad others have voiced this problem and hope Apple addresses this with a timely fix. Until then, I will look at restoring unit to prior OS.

update fail, solution needed, apple iOS7, iPad charging problems.

I have an iPad3 with IOS7 and safari was running exceptionally slow.

Here is what worked for me:

1. Turn OFF Safari under Settings/iCloud

2. Turn OFF Show Favorites Bar under Settings/Safari

3. Cleaned up my Bookmarks Bar on my macbookpro this helped a great deal I think with icloud

4. Not sure if this helped but I restarted Safari on the ipad and rebooted the ipad itself

In my case what was happening is that Safari on my ipad3 was trying to load all the bookmarks (close to one hunderd of them) and icons that come with them from icloud, every time i started it up, I was not even able to type it was so sluggish. I do alot of browsing to find references and as usual I would put all my bookmarks on my bookmark bar.

Safari runs fine now.

I hope this helps... everybody else that has this issue.

Ciao!

"My wife's iPad mini works fine.

Seriously W T F?"

I'm guessing your wife has far fewer purchases on her apple id than you do on yours. It seems that the more purchases (including freebies) associated with your apple id, then more likely it is that the iOS 7 AppStore/iTunes/iBooks will stall or crash. (My reasons for believing this are explained in my previous post on this thread).

It might be worth going to Settings > iTunes & AppStore > (tap your apple id) > Sign Out. Restart your iPad (holding home+sleep until the apple logo appears), then ask your wife to try logging into your iPad using her apple id. I'd lay odds on iTunes and the AppStore working as well as they do on her iPad Mini. Obviously, this isn't a solution as you won't have access to your purchases until you log back into your apple id (i.e. logout, restart, sign in as before), but it'll help confirm that the problem is the way iOS7 handles apple ids that are associated with lots of purchases.

The more people who can confirm this problem and explain it's causes, the more likely Apple will sit up, take notice and fix it.

Hello,

I have an iPad3 too, i'm wondering if you, apple guys, have tested ios7 on this device ?

Seriously, it's just a useless device since the update, wifi working randomly, slowness when using safari (once you are connected), battery looks like a butterfly life, ...

i'm very disapointed with this update and with the quality of apple in this case.

please fix that asap

To alleviate some of the concerns with performance issues

1. Apple is well aware of this, we should be getting more polished release within next few weeks

2. This isssue is not specific to iPad3, it affects all retina models including latest 4th gen.

3. Something I googled, but this info comes from reputable source, basically iOS7 for iPad was almost delayed untill Octoboer, I guess Apple just took a chance with early release.

4. They did a good job optimizing iOS7 for iPhone5, but even though iPad3 has a slower cpu/gpu, pretty much it handled apps and games just as well as iPhone5, never noticed any issues under iOS6.
