iOs 7 on iPad 3

Hello there.

I have ipad 3, new ipad with 16gb and 3g hardware.

Did you notice battery drain? I had my battery down in something like 4.30 hours.

The keyboard is really slow, i noticed an important lag during the use of it!

Wifi perfomance is really bad.

The only thing the customer care answered me is that they have no information about this, and i'm the only one experencing this problem........

Someone noticed the same?

Thanks

Major issues with iOS 7 on my iPad 3 (Wifi + GSM, 64Gb).

The App Store app has trouble connecting to the app store. It's not a network issue, as I'm able to reach the app store and itunes from other devices without any problems. Searching the App Store for an app takes 10-30 minutes because of the more-often-than-not "Unable to Connect" issues. And then to cap it all, the App Store app can lock up completely.

The battery drain is far greater than iOS 6.1.3.

Probably related to the battery issue: Other data usage grows continually at a rate of 0.1Mb every 2 minutes, with airplane mode on, locations services disabled, with no apps installed, immediately after a fresh firmware restore. It doesn't matter if the iPad is in use or on standby - the increase in Other data continues regardless. iOS 7.0 with no apps installed uses (747Mb) almost as much "other" space as iOS 6.1.3 used with over 450 apps and a number of photo journals (920Mb) before the first swipe to unlock occurs, and it just keeps growing thereafter.

The UI is a bit sluggish. It gets a lot better after the iPad is reset (by holding home and power buttons down until the apple logo appears - ignore the swipe to shut down), but it's still not as responsive as it should be. iOS 7 really needs options to disable to the form-over-function UI stuff (transitions, parallax etc) so that users of older iPads, iPhones and iPods don't end up with usability issues.

The white UI isn't a huge issue for me, but would it have been so hard to add an option to change the white UI components black and the text white? Invert mode achieves a similar effect, but also inverts all of the images in the process, which really isn't desirable.

For that matter, why didn't Apple make iOS 7 skinnable? Surely that would have been the best way forward, allowing users more customisation options and potentially giving Apple the option of releasing additions skin packs on the AppStore.

Same problems on Ipad 3. Immediately after iOS 7: keyboard problems, graphics lag, about a 20% loss in battery time, and I cannot go more than 10 feet from my wifi routing ir it will drop. All problems started immediately after installing the iOS update. Yried restoring default as well as resetting settings as well as hard reset. Wish I could downgrade back to 6. 7 is obviously not ready for the Ipad 3.

As an experienced user I've done this and more to no avail. The retina machines are rendered almost unusable in this update I'm afraid. I, as are a lot of retina users, experiencing poor performance with: keyboard lag, loading times, multitasking, hold finger on links to select options working one time in three or four, charge drains despite turning off all appropriate settings, recharge times in excess of 24hrs (mine only charged to 80%despite being run all the way down). Not trying to be dramatic but I think that Apple should turn the license back on for the previous os until this issue is sorted. I'm next going to try a complete restore from backup and will post the results tomorrow.

If anyone else has any ideas that aren't 'restore settings' please let me know.

I had posted earlier having the same problems. I did a wipe and complete restore using icloud (laptop out of commission) and did a few hard reboots. The lag is marginally better, but generally ipad is still frustratingly non-responsive and "herky jerky."

Unfortunately, I am starting to look at my ipad as something frustrating, rather than something I like. Sigh.

In my case The charging issue may be related to non approved apple cables. In my case I don't like the short 3 foot lightning and 30 pin cables so I went and purchased a bunch of 6 footers a few months ago. They worked great with IOS 6 but since IOS 7 I have noticed that they are not charging as fast (in fact they hardly charge unless the unit is turned off) and it may be the result of IOS 7 checking for the authentication chip built in to the cables and inadvertently crippling the cables instead of blocking them completely and causing the issues. No prof here only my guesstimating.

One of the reasons I came to this conclusion was because it charges normally when the unit is turned off and very likely the devices have no way to authenticate the chip on the cables but when operating system is running it can authenticate and deny full access to charging.

Same problems as others, Ipad 3 WiFi 32gb.

IOS7 made my snappy retina Ipad feel like my old Ipad 1. The worst was Safari. Chrome browser was far faster in loading pages. Things got better when I reset all settings, turned off Parallax, background updating, etc. but still a fair amount of lag throughout.

What's odd is that my wife's Ipad Mini 32gb wifi works just as well with IOS7 as IOS6. Wondering if Apple underestimated the effect of a big Ipad screen compared to the Mini and the Iphone.

Fortunately I was able to revert back to IOS6 before Apple shut down that option Saturday night. Back to my fast Ipad that I enjoyed before. I'll take the old cartoony icons over the new cartoony icons.

Here's hoping that Apple will solve these problems in the 7.1 release, which I'll await before trying to update again.

In the meantime I'll just ignore the red 1 update prompt on my settings icon -- and look at Nexus tablets for my next purchase.

One of those rare instances where a snap move paid off, at least for now. The blogs warned to act fast if one was going to try it.

After working through all the speed-up tips on Friday I took the plunge. Luckily I had a pre-IOS7 backup on our other Mac desktop; an IOS7 backup on my main computer wouldn't hand over data to the restored IOS6.

Reading the reviews it appears Apple has more work to do on Ipad & IOS7 generally, which gives me hope it's not just an Ipad 3 thing. The Apple TV update seems to indicate they rushed this release to coincide with the new phones ahead of the holiday selling season.

I am truly disappointed in this release. Some of the "fixes" sugeested are helping the ipad experience for me in terms of speed and functionalty, but the battery is being drained.

I AM SO MAD. I used to go to bed on a full charge and wake up and it was still fully charged. What a concept!

Now I wake up and it is in the 60% range!!! From one stinking night...OF NO USE!

If I wanted a crappy tablet, I would buy an adroid.

Honestly I want to get rid of the ipad 3 for the battery issue alone!!!!!!
