Now I know why APPLE release a new operating system every year, they must make a fortune from people like me. Has anyone else suffered the same or similar problems?

Everything on my phone worked perfectly fine until I foolishly updated to IOS7. After update I had no WIFI and no Bluetooth. Nothing I tried helped. I searched the web and tried all suggested fixes but to no avail. The phone was constantly searching for bluetooth and wifi but was unable to find anything.

I attended at the GENIUS bar in Buchannan Street Glasgow in a last ditch attempt hoping that one of the geniuses could solve my problem Ha Ha.

I informed the genius of my problem to which I was told "Ah there may have been an underlying problem which has manifested after the IOS7 update" when I stated my phone worked fine until the upgrade I was told that this type of problem sometimes occurs and apparently in the terms and conditions we the consumer are told to upgrade at our own risk.

When I asked what APPLE could do to help I was basically told NOTHING. They would swap my phone at a cost of £139.00 or I could continue to use it as it was. I was furious when I think I have only had the phone since 31st July 2012 and it is of no use to me now.

As like everyone else I cannot use my phone without wifi or bluetooth and as such I had no option but to cough up the fee of £139.00 for a replacement. I now have 90 days warranty. The waranty will be of no use to me however in one years time when APPLE turn out yet another system upgrade and everything stops working and no doubt like the fool I am I will be back at the Apple store handing over another £139.00 of my hard earned cash.

PS. This supposed new phone now connects to wifi. It does not however connect via bluetooth to my cars Pioneer Avic F900bt entertainment/satNav system so yet another product has become useless due to the IOS7 upgrade, this was working fine until the upgrade. No more handsfree calls for me unless I fork out some more cash for a bluetooth headset or new entertainment system.

Totally sick of APPLE products

Your device had a hardware defect that did not manifest itself until a certain amount of heat was generated. In this case, the iOS update generated the heat, which revealed the problem.

So, they offered to replace your out-of-warranty device with a duplicate device (no downgrade, exact make & model) at a huge discount? Sounds good to me!

Weird. You can't make phone calls anymore? You can't use your phone? Very odd.

And perhaps you should have 'handed over' £62 of your 'hard earned cash' for the AppleCare Protection Plan Plus at time of purchase. That would have avoided the £139 replacement fee entirely.

Perhaps before assuming the new phone is 'defective', you check to make sure that the bluetooth settings & pairing records are re-input into the new device? Perhaps some basic troubleshooting is in order before panicking again?

I'm sure there are other options available to you. Perhaps you should explore them.

Thanks for the heads up, next time I will place my Iphone in the freezer before updating just in case the IOS update generates too much heat. What a lot of crap...

Having invested several hundreds of pounds in Apps and music I don't want to just bin these and move on to a new supplier however I am well aware of other options out there thanks

Wifi worked, then shut out. For some reason bluetooth just keeps spinning? Wont be buying apple products again, cant understand how 3 device from the same household, a neighbour, 2 friends and a colleague can all suffer from a hardware problem due to an upgrade. They have all reported the issue, as I have, we have been told to be from £70 to £140 to replace, with 3 recieving in warranty replacements. Still thats at least £300 apple would make from their own mistake!

Above is the kind of snarky Apple apologist crap that really turns people off. Many, many issues across multiple Apple devices all resulting from an iOS update and the attitude is tough luck, yeah you should have known Apple hardware ***** so you should have spent even more to buy an additional warranty. Really? Apple products are just so delicate that a software update causes them to fail? Wow, seems like a little more compassion is in order for people for whom this is a real problem.

The point I was trying to make was, when we buy Apple products we invest hundreds and sometimes thousands of pounds (2.5k for my MacBook Pro) in a particular supplier. When there is an upgrade I dont want it making my device LESS usable than it was before the update.

There are thousands of posts on this community with disgruntled consumers who now have problems with their products. I came on here to vent my frustrations and to see if other consumers had suffered the same problems, NOT to be chastised for posting my frustrations.
