I've contacted Apple following this link http://www.apple.com/support/contact/, follow the steps. If your Care Plan has expired click on Exception -> IOS7.

It seems my iPhone 4s had a hardware issue with the WIFI chip. Apple replaced my iPhone without costs and mine had no warranty!

Hope it helps!

I am in Canada. iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2.

Experienced the same greyed wifi issue since update.

My phone is out of warranty by more than half a year.

Followed instruction from Apple's knowledge base, all the tricks explained here and in other threads, except the dryer/freezer ones.

Sometimes, immediatly after applying a fix, wifi/bluetooth became enabled, but never more than half an hour.

Yesterday, Oct 5, I followed user Tommeucanyellas recommandation, quoted here.

I chose the right Country, and clicked the following:

iPhone > Service request & Troubleshooting > Restore or update not working as expected.

Then I entered my serial number. Then choose iOS 7 in the next menu.

I chose to schedule a call. The phone rang at the exact scheduled time. Spoke to a first nice and polite representative who asked if I tried the workarounds explained on the Apple knowledge base, as well as backup/restore and reset network settings. Then I've been put on hold for a couple of minutes. When she came back, she transferred me to a senior representative.

The senior representative acknowledged the situation and apologied. Without me asking anything yet, he offered me to make an exception, a free replacement.

To get the new phone, he proposed to

-go to an apple store (this is a 3 hours drive for me)

-I send my phone, when they get it the send a new one.

-They charge my CC, send me a phone, then I have 10 days to send them the faulty one with the box I received my new phone in. Then they undo the CC billing.

I chose the last option of course.

The same day the new phone left the warehouse in PA and is scheduled to arrive at my place by tuesday.

At the end of the conversation I asked if he was aware of the technical issue. He couldnt tell me, but said that was a known issue and some customers were experiencing this.

I must admit I've been pleasantly surprised about the outcome of this issue.

For those not having luck at an AppleStore, I suggest you try this.

Thanks to Tommeucanyellas for bringing this solution out.

So are people going to pay the $199 for a replacement iPhone 4S if your warranty is over -- even though the update was responsible for the wifi and Bluetooth problems? My data plan is not going to be enough since I have always relied on wifi at work and home. Any idea how long we should wait for a fix? Shouldn't Apple address this immediately? If enough people agree to pay the $199 for a replacement then we are giving in and Apple won't do anything for us. So disappointed in Apple! Hardware issue only resulted because I was dumb enough to trust their download. Apple support said an update to iOS7 was likely to come out this weekend since so many people have no wifi anymore but so far nothing....

Udated my i4s to iOS6.1.2 to iOS7.0.0 on 18.09.2013 ,

wifi works perfectly from june 2012 until 20.09.2013 in the morning. (+-30h)

Suddenly it's gone, impossible to move the wifi on/off button in settings, no more wifi

a) Tried this > http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559

Result = DOESN'T WORK

b) Tried this solution http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414,

my i4S is virgin new, but the on/off button in settings is still not working = no wifi

Any ideas as to what the common theme is for why a phone gets this issue?

My device is a iPhone 4S on Verizon in US Bay Area.

I upgraded from 6 via the setting option on the phone directly w/o it being plugged into the iMac.

It worked for a few hours and now the enable wifi button is greyed out.

Also, do we need to call Apple support or is submitting an issue here good enough to help convey this issue is impacting users?

Ok- so my 4s16gb lost wifi after IOS 7 "upgrade". Tried all that; reconnected briefly after hard reboot. Then lost it again. As I'm reading all these responses on my wife's iPad (not upgraded) I suddenly notice my iPhone receiving email- but there's no Wifi icon! Opening settings, I see its connected to my home network - but looking at the upper corner of the screen there's no indication… very weird.

And wifi seems to work fine.

I am starting to get real angry,

I tried the last work around my wifi actually turned on.. about the 3rd time I have gotten it to turn on, but when it on I have no signal strength, i sitting in front of my router and it can not pic it up..

I have tried reseting my network setting nothing.

I backed up my iphone and erased all content,, Now that really ****** me off.. Now I lost half my add ons and saved data in my add ons.. for some reason half of them did not restore.. and on top of that the problem was not fixed.

Now why is apple not fixing this problem, you have a lot of customers with problems since this new IOS 7, I wish I never even downloaded it.. I dont even like it..

My fiance has the same 4s 16 gig I have.. she had no problems,, her wifi works just like before on IOS 6.

Apple needs to do something before I go to Samsung G4..

I wonder can I go back to IOS 6, i rather run the old one that works.

And should I even bother going to my local ATT to yell??

I am freakin ******. Who going to pay for my data if I go over my plan... I'm Not!@!!!!!!

Bharris0721: your addons (apps) may be there

- go to iTunes and from there into the store

- search for apps purchased but not on your PC

- click the download all - you should then have copies of all the apps on your PC

- sync the iPhone again with iTunes and missing apps should appear (if I am guessing correctly what your problems is)

But I do agree with the sentiment of your post particularly the ******** bits - I'm hacked off too
