I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one with this problem.. I thought it was my wifi or my Sprint iPhone, but no..... My phone connects just fine with my wifi at work after upgrading to iOS 7, but won't connect to my home wifi from Verizon now. But my friend who upgraded at the same time, with his AT&T iPhone can connect t my home wifi just fine. I upgraded at my work, using their wifi and he upgraded here using my home wifi. I wonder if that made a difference. And I have a Sprint iPhone, he has AT&T, would that make a difference? I haven't upgraded my iPad and I never will as long as this is a problem. Well, at least I can connect while at work, although don't tell my boss ....:). I don't know what's going on but it definitely makes the Samsung Galaxy 4 look mighty good for Christmas and throwing this iPhone 4S in the trash.. Jus sayin' =^..^=

Same wi-fi greyed out issue after updating to iOS 7.0.2 including delayed response/freezes in viewing different settings menus. Wi-fi address showing under about menu so hardware is working. Bluetooth working fine.

Had none of the above with iOS 7. Done clean install and even rolled back to iOS 7 but to no avail...

I have wifi problem in IOS 7.0 with iphone 4s. I can on/off wifi but not see to choose any wifi.

Last night, I upgraded to ios 7.0.2.The iphone could only connect wifi in 5 minutes and repeated the same problem. I restart iphone, I also just 5 minute to connect.

I tried this and so did the genius at my local apple store: no luck. But fortunately my iphone was 13 months into the 24 month applecare cover and so the guy at the apple store simply replaced it with a new one. He said he had checked the hardware and it didn't work, so would replace.

I wonder, but really don't know, if somehow the iOS 7 is causing older iphone 4s to overheat and some hardware fault is developing because of this??

Here's my story, so far a happy one.

My wifes iphone 4s, location Prague, Czech Rep., Europe.

Upgrade to iOS7 a week ago, wifi greyed out. She did a few restarts whitout any effect on the wifi. Also on the control panell the wifi button is active but does nothing.

Cca 3 days ago she upgraded to iOS 7.0.2 - no effect.

She also has problems with the energy consumption, meaning: after a full charge in the evening, by around 11 am the next day, the battery is on 5-10%. I know there are things to do to decrease energy consumption, but still... With iOS6 this wasn't so bad.

1 day ago when she checked the phone sometime during the day, she realised the battery emptied completely during the night and the phone shut down. The shut down period could be a few hours. She pluged in, restarted and suddenly she had a green wifi button in settings, and she could turn on the wifi. But she didn't find the home wifi network, not even by searching it by name. All the wifi did was showing the blue (?) rotating sign of searching for a network.

During the day she restarted the phone for some other reason (with the lock button). The phone didn't want to shut down normally so she pushed the restart button again. This time the phone restarted normally and the wifi worked and also found the home networ without any other extra trick.

It's been about 24 hours since, and the wifi works uninterrupted.

I don't have to describe you the happiness 🙂

It will not work with this router no matter what I do. I attached another router to my wifi point and went thought that and it works fine now. Same problem with appleTV. I have fios and their action tech router. I piggybacked an old apple router out the back. I think it an ios7 conflict cause my pc and laptops connect fine just not my updated iPhone 5 ios7 and Apple TV. They need to fix it but this is my work around

Here is the latest for me:

Home wifi does not work with devices with os7 on it including my 4s. My 4s works fine on public wifi. My apple devices that do not have os7 run fine on wifi at home including an old ipod touch which can only go up to os 5.1. This is why I think its os7 and not a hardware issue (at least for me).

So, I tried resetting network settings on the 4s. Did not work. Modem would not reset properly after that. Had to get a new modem (rather pay $100 for a new modem than $200 for a new phone I guess). Everything works find now BUT I have not since tried to connect via wifi with any of my devices that have ios 7. Still holding out hope that an os7 update is coming and that it will fix it. I did read a blurb suggesting an update is coming soon. Don't know how reliable that information is.

I do have an iPhone 4s running IOS 7.0.2 and have tried the following

- toogle the Airplane Mode "on/off" switch

- power the phone down and turn it on again with the Airplane Mode switch set both "on" and "off" (I have done this repeately)

- Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, then aply reset (I have done this repeatedly)

- in iTunes: reset the phone to factory defaults and restore from back up

None of the techniques described above did work for me. Still no way to slide the grayed out WiFi "on/off" switch into the "on" position.

What has been suggested somewhere else and I have *not* tried is to

- put the phone in the freezer for a while

- heat the phone up with a blow drier

Assuming that the reports of the above practices fixing the issue are correct, I would infer the problem is that the WiFi driver does not read out the WiFi hardware subsystem's status correctly, with at least some of that status information being stored in some non-volatile memory that gets 'reset' (to who knows what!) when driven out of its operating temperature range. Personally, I am too concerned to apply either of these techniques out of fear it will also erase other important infromation stored in the non-volatile memory with unpredictable consequences or it will even damage the electronics.

I guess, I'll have to resign myself to waiting until there is a new IOS 7 software update. Until then I'll continue in my role of Apple tech support at home and draw the ires of my family. I am still on on IOS 6 (with WiFI), while two other family members are on IOS 7.0.2 and having the above WiFi issue.

What I do not understand is how this issue escaped during Apple's product validation testing. I mean, the iPhone 4s is still and active platform and WiFi is not an obscure feature somebody forgot to include in the test plan.

hey guys,

Same problem here.

iphone 4S working like a charme before going to iOS7

ipad works OK on iOS7 (can't switch off any program running in de background)

iOS7 was working perfect during 1 week, now i have no WIFI, and some times the phone shuts off (same like your battery would be on 0%) even when de display indicates 25%.

wifi abel to switch on en off (visual but not for real) with the quick menu, in settings en then wifi, not abel switch on or off.

yesterday night i tried to down grade, but this didn't work. to day i am back up en running iOS7 but still no wifi.

apperently you only could dowgrade during beta trial.

Yep, mine was working fine even after the 7.02 update, until this afternoon. Spent the last 5 hours trying everything that's been suggested and my wifi slider is still stuck to off. It started at my friends house, it had connected to her wifi earlier in the day but then disconnected. I turned my phone off and back on and the wifi had turned itself off and won't turn back on. I work as Cabin crew and my phone being turned on flight safe mode had been working fine. Since I lost the ability to turn my wifi on the screen has been freezing, apps keep crashing and the screen keeps going blank when I make a call so to hang up from the phone call I have to turn my phone off and back on. Back home and my phone won't connect to my wifi which it had before leaving the house this morning. My iPads working fine with the ios7.0 but I won't be updating that to 7.2 with fear it will create the same problem!

This helped me

One of the most common complaints we are hearing from users is that they have been unable to access wi-fi and Bluetooth after installing iOS7.

Here are a few things you can try:

- Change the name of your device

The new operating system seems to have an issue with apostrophes. At least when it comes to wi-fi.

Check out your device name. If it is called something like “Claire’s iPhone” it could be the apostrophe that is causing the problem.

To change your device name go to Settings > General > About > Name. Tap on the name to edit it and remove the apostrophe. Save the change. Switch off your phone and then switch it back on again.

Your wi-fi should be working.

We have no idea why this seems to work but many users in Apple’s community forums have said that it works.

Funny enough, I went to the apple store last night, there was also a gal next to me with the exact same problem and the "genius" in the bar told me that I was having a hardware problem with the wifi... Even when his diagnostic software said NORMAL in the screen in front of him. So he told me I needed to replace my phone to a $199 cost. I don't think so... Guess what Apple? You just lost an apple fan and customer! Way to go! I'm definitely not buying another apple product ever. Do you guys at Apple think we're pumpkins?? You screwed up big time with this joke of iOS and you still expect us to pay you to fix? When a lot of people complaint about the same is for a reason apple, listen to your customers... Samsung I think I'll take a look at you phones now.
