wifi doesn't work with IOS 7

Got back to settings-wifi- now shows Not Connected! Tap on Wifi prompt; screen frozen now. I'm waiting; screen frozen, clock frozen. Try to press Home Button; nothing. Press Home Button and power, hold- shut down, no reboot. Press power button, phone starting up with Apple logo. Lock screen comes up- Searching for service SCREEN LOCKED CANT SWIPE TO UNLOCK!?!!! Oh what's this now!? Ok, it started to reboot again(?) lets see what happens. Got Lock screen showing 4 bars of signal, no WiFi indication. But still can't Slide To Unlock. AND NOW IT'S REBOOTING AGAIN!!! Apple logo- went to black, nothing happening- AND APPLE LOGO AGAIN!! Wait- Lock Screen again, shows 4 bars and carrier, but no WiFi symbol. Ok- let me unlock, enter password- home screen- no WiFi symbol. Hit email- one unsent message (my test to myself)- Cellular Data is Turned Off message again. Hit OK- go to Settings- Wifi (shows off)- select and wifi switch is greed out again!!!

Sigh.

I might be wrong, but if you restore from a backup, then the backup only has a list of the apps from the iPhone and information about where they are on the screen- The application itself is restored from the copy that is on the PC - so if the app is NOT on the PC it wont be restored.

All the apps that you have ever downloaded to the iPhone can be found:

1) either from iTunes on the PC (go to store - AppStore - then press the "Purchased" button on the right side - and donwload any that are "Not on This Computer" - then sync as I mentioned before)

2) or on the iPhone under Apps, but if you don't have wifi, it will be slow (and expesnive in bandwidth terms) to download - you should do it through iTunes instead

APPLE we need a POSt.. I know your read these.. Some kind of status update.. At least let us know your working on the problem... I believe there enough people with the same exact problem.. I am not going to buy my WIFI chip went bad at the same moment I downloaded IOS 7,, and if that the case send me IOS 6 to reinstall.. see if my wifi still down!!!

I highly doubt over 100 other people wifi chips went bad at the same time!!!

To make sure that Apple understands this is a real problem, I also wanted add my name to the list of people experiencing wifi problems. I have a 4S and have never had wifi issues with the phone. After updating to iOS7, my wifil will not connect to my home router or my office router. I have tried all the "fixes" outlined in the previous 6 pages to this thread and none of them works (I connected once but it was short lived).

The wifi issue is clearly not a hardware issue in my case -- it only arose after updating to the new OS.

Did you have any problems with the Wi-Fi address prior to fixing this? My Wifi address after going into Settings -- General and About on my iPhone says N/A for Wifi. Or did you always see the address when you couldn't toggle the wifi?

Thanks graysonip. I did this as well and it worked one time, but when I left my home and came back I could not reconnect, even repeating the above. Unfortunately, it is not possible to reboot the router in my office or as others have mentioned in a coffee shop, etc. Thanks for your recommendation. I really hope that Apple is acknowledging the issue and planning to resolve it.

I have the same issue, wifi button greyed out, then I reset, then wifi works and goes off after a short while. When I try to go in to wifi settings, the screen freezes! Have tried every solution going to no avail. So I too am adding my name to this thread. Disappointing apple.

Hey all...I have an appointment tomorrow at my local genius bar...Have the same issue with my Iphone 4s 16gb. After updating to iOS7, I totally lost my wifi and cannot turn it back on. Button on wifi is greyed out. Steps I have taken so far: network reset, hard reset, another network reset with support on the phone, network reset with airplane mode turned on...no go on any of them. This is there issue and the support reps on the phone even said as much. If they turn me away for being out of warranty tomorrow, I will not be getting an Iphone in the future...there are still better andriods out there...fix the issue already apple, having to use my data plan for internet all the time is starting to cause my battery to become hot. 😠

I took my 4s to the Genius Bar today too and was told the same thing.... Almost word for word.....Sounds like they're feeding the same answers to everyone. But unfortunately my phone was past the warranty.... Still hoping Apple owns up to this and sends out a fix!

Really, Apple store is trying to say our phones just happen to brake when we upgraded.. Are you kidding me.. My phone is 1 year and 2 months old.. so I am screwed..

My phone does not have a scratch on it, been in a defender case since day one.. and never been dropped.. Figured it have good resale value if I kept it in good shape.

Does apple even look on this board.. do they really think I will buy that over 100 people's phones all broke right when they upgraded to I0s 7.. Maybe if it was a few people.

But not this many people..

If apple does not address this,, I am thnking class action law suit. I be ****** if before I will give them a penny.

You're lucky, mine won't even give the option of turning on WiFi.

I can't exactly ask every hotspot providor and our company to change their WiFi settings or try switching it off and on again.

Come on Apply disengage digit and fix the bug!

Slowly starting to look at Android phones as I face the next challenge with Apple:

- my GPS app doesn't work under ios 7

- App Store on iPhone shows update available

- but I can't download because I don't have wifi and the app is too big - thanks a million Apple!

- go to iTiunes to see if syncing would solve the problem

- what does iTunes say? "all apps are up-to-date"

What an *****ing mess Apple - get your act together. Thanks to ios 7 I have gone from a working iPhone 4S to a disaster - and Apple doesn't seem to care ...

My workaround lasted all of about 10 mins after I posted. Still greyed out, luckily I'm still under warranty (just barely) but will be heading back to the apple store this week for my third 4s in a week. If they tell me it's my hardware again, and not the software issue it clearly is, I'm going to just go ahead and take that as a sign that I'm dealing with a less then honest company, and take my business elsewhere with my upgrade. I can narrow the issue down to the first time I clicked the wifi off in control center this time tho. It's clearly an issue with those controls. Wifi is greyed out, and BT doesn't even have a toggle switch anymore, just that circular, spinning icon, like something is loading. Anyone know if the wifi, and BT antenna are one and the same?

Thanks for letting us know how Apple treat you. Rather like HP they seem more interested in shipping as much new product as possible rather than taking any pride in quality ... sad really ... they once had a better reputation ...

Still haven't solved my issues ... and so am waiting for Apple to do something about its iOS 7 ... and starting to look at Android phones for a brighter more reliable future!

I would be much more understanding if they would just admit it , and say "we are aware of the issue, and working on a fix", instead of "your phone is broken". Did all of our phones just happen to simultaneously break right after we upgraded? I find that a little hard to believe. When I do get my next phone, I'm not upgrading it to ios7 until they fix the known bugs.
