Hi, I installed on my iphone IOS 7 but now wifi doesn't work. It doesn't find any wifi connections around me. Please help me! What can I do?
Both my iPhones 4s were purchased in an Apple Store as full price, unlocked iPhones and are operating on the T-Mobile network. It is not clear to me why the operator choice would have an impact on an unlocked iPhone, unless the operator downloads oprator settings that specifically apply to WiFi connectivity. The issue is not wether I can connect to a router, etc., the issue is that I can not even activate the WiFi system because of the grayed out switch in the WiFi settings screen. BTW, I found out that I can toggle the WiFi button after swiping up the new control panel. Needles to say, it doesn't do nothing. That piece of software seems to be a simple GUI that issues commands to the OS/HW and either never checks what happened, or, if it checks, doesn't bother to tell the user.
exact same issue. I've been using my phone sans WiFi for weeks now. It is awful. AT&T is now throtteling my service. This issue alone makes me wish iOS7 never happened.
I had the beta version of iOS7, and it worked GREAT! Everything was wonderful. Then, after the real one came out I installed that and nothing but trouble. Luckilly my contacts were in the cloud. I've reset everything, had an apple tech tighten the screws on the antenna, reset network settings, restored... iTunes won't go past telling me "I see you iPhone. It's already set up" and then it "ejects it." This is buggy, and awful and needs to be fixed.
TJBUSMC1973: "... if it was the iOS 7 software, then all devices running iOS 7 would be affected."
Tonefox: "I suggest again that if the issue were caused only by the new iOS, then there would be over 200 million people in the world unable to access wifi, and it would have hit national newspapers and TV."
Gentlemen, with all due respect, you may be oversimplifying the matter by assuming that the OS interacts ONLY with the phone's hardware. Isn't it true that the OS also manages the operation of all apps installed on the phone? And if that is the case, then the wifi disease may be a manifestation of some conflict between the OS and some one or more apps that all affected users have on their phones. Now, if THAT is the case, Apple should have done a better job eliminating such conflicts. If my original assumption is faulty, I will respectfully withdraw my objection. For now, though, I continue to believe the problem is in faulty programming.
If this is, after all, a HARDWARE issue and, as I have repeatedly read here, Apple is suggesting that people should pay for the replacement of phones with expired warranties (and I don't know what Apple will tell ME until I return home (a week from now) from a trip to a country where there are no Genius bars), this situation still leaves me with a bad taste in the mouth (and YES, gentlemen, I AM emoting here - based on the facts available to me). Maybe an analogy wil help. Imagine you take your 14-months-old Chevrolet to a garage for routine maintenance, and later the techs tell you that the maintenance process somehow damaged some mysterious valve, and now your car cannot go faster than 40 miles per hour, and they also tell you they can replace the car, but it will cost you (less than a new car, but still)...
Last but not least, both your profiles indicate that neither of you have iOS 7 installed on ANY of your devices (if I misunderstood that information, I beg your pardon in advance). If so, I find it somewhat strange that you protect the new OS with such fervor...
No problems with emoting - I feel the same way about this company ...
Now on to page 26 of this discussion - I joined at about page 8 or so, but still no solution. What bothers me more is that I have seen no sign of Apple responding to the issue even to say they are dealing with it or take it seriously. I even chatted with someone from support in the US who when I asked whether she could check whether the technical guys knew about it and we're investigating, I got the"this is not my job" response and a hurried closure of the chat. Apple is always after feedback but feels no obligation to make this a two way communication. This is not only arrogant, but shows that they don't take quality service seriously ...
Can you please guide me through the steps to get into this Exception iOS 7? Cannot find it anywhere...
Thanks!
Tonefox: "I made no estimate as to the number of users with the problem, only the number of users posting on this thread." (Hope I'm not misquoting this time)
Apparently nobody can make that estimate, including Apple, because based on what I've read so far Apple has not even attempted a headcount to determine the severity of the wifi issue and is not taking it seriously, and that's the real problem - for those who have it.
TJBUSMC1973: "But then, it would be more difficult to debate with you. Because then, he'd have to address the actual facts, instead of relying upon emotionalism."
Dear TJBUSMC1973, in my book, the actual facts are these: millions of iPhone users upgraded to iOS 7; an undetermined (why?) number of those users have lost the use of the critical wifi function immediately after the upgrade, which MAY be suggestive of a cause-effect relation; certain remedial steps suggested by Apple have proven inefficient in an unknown (why?) number of cases, and the unlucky owners of those iPhones are now stuck up with glorified basic phones/calculators. I am one of those select few (how few? nobody knows - nobody WANTS to know). May I please be emotional about those facts? Maybe if you were one of those select few, you'd be more empathetic. Incidentally, have YOU upgraded to iOS 7?
Unfortunately I tried the same here in The Netherlands.
Spoke to an Apple support engineer on the Apple website: Nice guy, Quentin his name is, he promised me I could get a replacement for free and advised me to contact Apple support in The Netherlands.
I did and they refused to replace my phone. I asked them to read the transcript of my talk with the engineer, which they did, and they told me Quentin was wrong and I could not claim warranty since my phone was one month out of warranty.
I got lucky I was able to get apple to give me a new phone or free even tho I was 2 months out if warranty. The phone they gave me us still on iOS 6 I am afraid to download 7 due to these issues and I'm afraid the battery life is awful.
I's 7 even worth downloading or can I stay on 6 forever
Wow, 37,000+ people having this wifi issue... There are also about twenty other feeds like this. All this seems to directly coincide with the iOS 7 update. Even if it is not an issue directly with iOS but how it interacts with other devices, it should condone some interest from apple...
I've got the same problem. Iphone 4S, ios7.02
Even better is that I'm overseas for the next 2 months and so basically my phone is a brick until this gets fixed.
Can't use any applications that require wifi, and I don't want to pay out the nose to roam with 3g data.
Before someone berates me asking if I've followed the steps:
Other devices can connect to hotel wifi (kindle, laptop, work blackberry).
tried airplane mode, renewed lease, forgot network (about 150 times), reset network settings, put in fridge, put in garbage (haha). Hard booted, restored from backup.
It was working fine up until today - it gets the wifi signal but cannot connect. Doubting it's a hardware issue as it's a new phone (refurbished but only about 2 months ago. I'd be out of warranty, and even if I was in warranty I'd have a hard time getting it replaced as I'm, like I said, overseas for a few months.
Fantastic result apple, first thing I'll do once I get home - buy a non apple device..
Yes, Prokhozhy, that's the real issue - Apple doesn't take its customers seriously - more interested in making money out of them than responding and helping ... :(
Yes, you might think Apple was interested in helping, but all you can do is give "feedback" into its black hole and hope that sooner or later some light does escape ... Don't make the mistake of thinking that Apple wants a two way dialogue with its customers - too expensive for them and might impact their profit line ...
I've just spent over an hour on the phone to Apple. They make out that this is not a problem they've really come across. After restoring my phone as a new phone and wifi still greyed out they insist that it's is a hardware problem that was there before the iOS.7 update but the update has bought out????? Makes no sense to me. Anyway in the uk they offer to replace the phone for £146 or if your handset is via a monthly contract they say to contact your network provider, as in the uk the handset is covered by consumer law for 2 years. My provider offer a courtesy handset while my phone gets sent off to be looked at, it will either be repaired or replaced..
I just got off the phone with AT & T and they said that as of about 10:30 EST, Apple has reported a "bug" with IOS 7 and wifi. There is no estimated day or time for the repair but Apple is working on a fix. I've reset my settings, etc. and lost data and this is extremely frustrating.
I have the same problem. Tried hard reseting & backing up several times. Its very frustrating that none of the solutions that have been provided to this issue work....
