I've contacted Apple following this link http://www.apple.com/support/contact/, follow the steps. If your Care Plan has expired click on Exception -> IOS7.

It seems my iPhone 4s had a hardware issue with the WIFI chip. Apple replaced my iPhone without costs and mine had no warranty!

Hope it helps!

I am in Canada. iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.2.

Experienced the same greyed wifi issue since update.

My phone is out of warranty by more than half a year.

Followed instruction from Apple's knowledge base, all the tricks explained here and in other threads, except the dryer/freezer ones.

Sometimes, immediatly after applying a fix, wifi/bluetooth became enabled, but never more than half an hour.

Yesterday, Oct 5, I followed user Tommeucanyellas recommandation, quoted here.

I chose the right Country, and clicked the following:

iPhone > Service request & Troubleshooting > Restore or update not working as expected.

Then I entered my serial number. Then choose iOS 7 in the next menu.

I chose to schedule a call. The phone rang at the exact scheduled time. Spoke to a first nice and polite representative who asked if I tried the workarounds explained on the Apple knowledge base, as well as backup/restore and reset network settings. Then I've been put on hold for a couple of minutes. When she came back, she transferred me to a senior representative.

The senior representative acknowledged the situation and apologied. Without me asking anything yet, he offered me to make an exception, a free replacement.

To get the new phone, he proposed to

-go to an apple store (this is a 3 hours drive for me)

-I send my phone, when they get it the send a new one.

-They charge my CC, send me a phone, then I have 10 days to send them the faulty one with the box I received my new phone in. Then they undo the CC billing.

I chose the last option of course.

The same day the new phone left the warehouse in PA and is scheduled to arrive at my place by tuesday.

At the end of the conversation I asked if he was aware of the technical issue. He couldnt tell me, but said that was a known issue and some customers were experiencing this.

I must admit I've been pleasantly surprised about the outcome of this issue.

For those not having luck at an AppleStore, I suggest you try this.

Thanks to Tommeucanyellas for bringing this solution out.

wish Apple would give us the option to downgrade and will downgrade my 4S to IOS 5 right away.....had the same wifi issues since IOS 6......if any posters here would track back, we were the same posters faced with the same woes since IOS 6....to tell you the truth, me & several others have tried all the quick fix you had on this thread but all of them are just band-aid solutions and problem still returns....:)

Hi, just to add:

I remember that when I turned on "Do Not Disturb" (from sidebar) It was the last time my WiFi was working. After that (2 hours aprox. with Do Not Disturb) when I tried to turn off my iPhone freeze and did not response. I forced to do a hard reset (home bottom and off bottom).

After this momment the WiFi have the same issue that all of you. All this happened at 2 days after installing iOS 7

Does anyone remember if it happened the same?

I'm seriously frustrated, I can not get wifi nor can I use bluetooth. The bluetooth is trying to turn on however the spinning graphics just keeps turning clockwise. I've research for days and have tried all kinds of different ways and no results! I've done the hard reset, blab, blab, blab...I guess I'm not alone with this frustration. What can we do? Updating to the new software just killed my phone, Thank YOU Apple!

I experienced A LOT of problems after IOS 7 update!

Among other things:

- My phone freezes. Especially if I'm going into settings. This also applies Wifi button, which I can not touch.

- Mobile loses all power at random times, and displays' No batteri' sign.

- Touch button does not always work, and if you press the Home button 1 time, it sometimes sees it as more than 1 press.

- Today the 'Dial-menu' didnt sho and I could not see Snooze, Speaker, Add People etc.

Others who have these problems?

Sure This sounds like My Issue to...

IOS Version is 7.0.2 And the WIFI Does NOT work at all & with any Kind of FIX..

You can enter the settings & then open WIFI settings & that's it...

The WIFI is turned off & when you touch it, it don't turn on or flick to the side to show Green or nothing Right ?

NO other WIFI networks show So since we can't even turn the Darn thing on. Not sure what we are to do to get around this Issue...

Apple as to sort this issue out Because WIFi is a very Important part in Tech these days & not to have WIFI feels like I've not even got a iphone to be honest now.. it's just a **** Brick that rings now & then lol.

Can anyone confirm if there is even a fix being worked on ?

Thanks People!!!

My phone is my life line for buiness. Wifi and Bluetooth must work. I'm now shopping around for other phones and services. I've been buying all Apple products since Power Macintosh 9600, that's way back and today, I can't believe that I'm researching to move away from Apple. I really dislike how Apple handles their customer service. I don't care how big the company is or how great their products are or how creative they are. I really don't appreciate that, due to their software upgrade now my phone has numerous issues and forcing me to upgrade or buy another phone. I REALLY, REALLY DON'T LIKE HOW APPLE HAS BEEN HANDLING CUSTOMER SERVICE. NO THANK YOU!

Just some friendly advice, If you get a replacement iphone, DO NOT UPGRADE to IOS 7. I am now on my 3rd Iphone 4S.

The first one lasted a very short time and Apple replaced it, this had nothing to do with IOS7.

The replacement phone worked fine until the night I updated to IOS7. WIFI went out and I went into the store for a fix. They got my wifi working again but it was a temporary fix for about 2 days.

I went back to the Apple store and they replaced my replacement. They even offered to update my new replacement phone to IOS7. What an idiot I am, I said sure. A few days with my replacement-replacement phone and now wifi is out again. Nothing I do can fix it.

I now have to go back to the store to have my replacement-replacement replaced. This will be my 4th iphone, I guess I am unlucky. The people in the store were very nice but it was very hard to not get snippy with them when they repeated the same line to me for the 10th time, "a software update will not cause hardware problems." At what point does a company acknowledge their problem?

DO NOT GET THE IOS7 UPDATE IF YOU GET A REPLACEMENT IPHONE 4S.

Oct 16, 2013 7:23 PM in response to Hambonepack

Hambonepack is absolutely right, don't ever trying doing any more upgrades on your working replacement phone......there is just a big chance that you'll just have the same problem again if you do......nothing is wrong in the phone's hardware neither on anybody's router.....it is definitely just the software that is causing this issue we all are facing now......unless they come up with a software patch or would allow us to downgrade, my 4s will just be gathering dust in the cabinets.....no more Apple products for me & the family any more...:(

totally agree with you; I've tried most things and nothing works!

I've got an Apple phone with Apple software; I accept it's out of warranty but that's not the issue, there is something fundamentally wrong with the phone, or software, there's too many 4s users having the same problem, it must be a latent defect with the phone

Apple say it's a hardware issue and that I should contact O2 and quote my consumer rights; the phone isn't fit for purpose, in that it hasn't been able to run the updated OS software

O2 say it's software, they accept it's a hardware fault but they say caused by the software; and if the phone isn't fit for purpose then they'll just claim a new phone from the manufacturer - Apple

I feel I'm just being fobbed off by Apple; as stated it's an Apple phone, Apple software and there's lost of us with the same problem; doesn't take much to see who'e responsibility it is!!!
