Me too

iPhone 5s 32GB worked perfect until upgrade to 7.0.3

Won't recognise home WiFi network, can't see other WiFi networks in range, association problems with WiFi networks. 3G data also severerly impacted along with complaints that the quality of voice calls has degraded severely.

I've tried:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings x 3 times - No joy

plus

Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings x 4 times and backup or new phone setup via iTunes - Still no joy

Help!

My iPhone 4S won't recognize any WiFi (in coffee shops, at my work, at home) now that I have "upgraded" to the latest IOS. It also won't open anything to type in any passwords when it does see a network. Why does Apple even release this crap without testing for bugs? This is almost as bad as Lion.

Is there a fix on the horizon. I now have a fairly useless iPhone and iPad Mini. I now have to carry my original non-updated iPad to log into WiFi if I go out.

Apple is quickly losing more points with me. Android is looking better all the time.

Apparently no other user can help you remedy this situation. Regardless of whether this is faulty hardware (fried wifi chip) or faulty programming (half-baked operating system), the ball is in Apple's court. And Apple is busy rolling out new products. New customers are queueing up to buy more iPhones, so why waste time dealing with a trifling (?) percentage of disgruntled old customers. Without wifi, your iPhone (and my iPhone) remains an iBrick, and an iBrick is an iBrick is an iBrick, end of story. Yesterday I bought a new smartphone for my wife. Having seen my pain and misery, she asked for a Lumia 520, and now for a 'whopping' 200 bucks she has a device that has more functionality than my iBrick 4S. Do the math. I think that unless a fix comes along, I'll use my iBrick to death making the best of all the apps on it that have no need for internet or use little traffic (I still have 3G), and then go over to the dark side and get me an Android phone or a Windows phone.

It’s been more than a month since my first post on this forum on my iPhone 4S wifi issue. More than a month with very patchy wifi (between 30 seconds and 1 minute until the whole phone freeze and bomb out). Three updates, 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 and 7.0.3 … and still nothing from apple to solve the issue. Now there’s some good customer care for you…

So here is my solution, my wife’s iPhone 4S was luckily due for an upgrade this month (in South Africa we get an upgrade every 2 years), she picked a Samsung Galaxy 4S Mini, she refused to get another iPhone (as we only have iPhone 5 here in SA at the moment). Guess what, her wifi issue was solved immediately.

Too bad I will have to grit and bare it till Jan 2014 when my iPhone 4S upgrade is due. It’s going to be a long December and xmas without wifi. But come 2014, I’m outta here.

Btw my
iPad 2 on ios 6.1.3 is still going like a bomb with zero issues, it is safe to say ios7 can lick my chocolate salty ba!!s

A third update to my issue with the wifi on my 4S. I used the support "chat" function with Apple and they suggested that I again restore my phone as new. Lo and behold as soon as the phone was restored it immediately found a wifi connection. So my phone is working again. And has been working now for three days. So I recommend trying a restore as new.

Just a thought. I checked my router configuration. The problems with connecting may have something to do with the WIFI settings. My router channel is set to auto where the router will pick the optimal frequency using some mysterious algorithm. I have also set the router to broadcast the SSID. Perhaps the problem may be that IOS 7 needs to find a broadcasting SSID in order to enable WIFI and allow connection. That may explain why it works in the Apple store but not at a private residence. The Apple stores broadcast the SSID, a home system may not because of misguided concerns about security. Broadcasting an SSID is not a significant risk and setting the channel to auto is probably a good idea.

I recently upgraded my iPhopne 4s to ios 7. I am unable to use the phones wi-fi features - the option to turn on wi-fi is greyed out in my settings screen.

I tried the "Reset Network Settings" suggestion but it did not solve my issue.

I then walked into an Apple store and explained my problem. The lady told me that the phone was out of warrantly, and that they problem cannot be fixed and that I would need to purchase a replacement phone. A replacement phone costs $199. Similarly - a brand new iPhone costs $199. Cute.

She told me "She's just taking orders." and that "their hands are tied down here." Another Genius suggested that I try calling Apple customer relations and also Apple Care.

So I did. The representative repeated told me how sorry he was to hear that my device is not working and how he understands how frustrating this might be. Wow - such empathy! He suggested that I perform a device restore from iTunes. I asked him if I could just downgrade to iOS6 and to my suprise - YOU CANNOT LEGALLY DOWNGRADE THE SOFTWARE ON YOUR DEVICE.

So I did the iTunes restore - which did not work. Upon which I called Apple support again - and this representative told me that since the iTunes restore didn't work - this is a hardware issue - and since my iPhone is out of warranty I'll need to pay $199 if I want a replacement. I explained how unaccepatable this was and he offered to connect me to his supervisor.

The representative's supervisor was very happy to explain how sorry he was that I was experiencing this issue with my device and how he understands my frustrations. Such empathy! The supervisor explained to me that iOS 7 caused the wi-fi device in my iPhone 4s to overheat and it is now burnt out. Therefore, since my phone is out of warranty, it will cost $199 to replace my iPhone. I asked him, if Apple knows that the iOS 7 upgrade has the potential to physically destroy a part on my iPhone 4s that will render a part of its core functionality inoperable, and Apple has somehow made it so that I cannot leagally downgrade to iOS 6, why would they continue to encourage users to upgrade the operating system on their phone? Why not issue a simple and clear notice to iPhone 4S users before upgrading? He did not speak directly to any of my questions, told me how sorry he was, and assured me that he could not do anything to help me.

Awesome. That is taking planned obsolencense to another level. Unfortunately in the United States this kind of crap is legal at the moment.

I have been a loyal Apple customer for several years and this is not what I expected from your esteemed brand. I would suspect that there are a number of other folks that participated in this forum thread who think the same.

Apple (yes, all of you) - I am very disappointed in you. I purchase your products because I percieve them as being of the utmost quality. This is not quality.

To add to my post 2 days ago about having lost WiFi capability, my upgraded iPhone 4S has now overheated and burnt out. It is useless. It won't even turn on.

Apple. You will NEVER get another $199 from me. And you don't have to worry about being sorry for me and my phone because you will NEVER see me with another iPhone.

I've put up with the crappy Lion "upgrade" (upgrade my ***) and all that has followed Lion in the last year and now this crap.

If you hadn't come along with Retina display you'd probably have me completely gone.

Steve Jobs must be rolling over in his grave at these amateur antics coming from the company he pushed so hard to be a model of perfection and innovation.

All, after being affected with this issue for a few weeks now and monitoring this thread I decided to bit the bullet and call apple support. Despite my phone being out of warranty they made an exception and replaced my phone (had to go into apple store to do the swap).

It is truely sad the way in which apple has handled this situation. The fact that *nobody* from apple support has yet to chime in on this thread is astonishing.

Hopefully my replacement 4S will not suffer the same problem as my previous one but if it does the replacement phone does come with 90 more days of warrenty.

I suspect that no software fix is coming quite possibly because the bug caused hardware damage to the integrated wifi/bluetooth chip in these phones.

Maybe if everyone demands a replacment someone will take notice because it is clearly not happening in this thread.
