Just another person with the same problem as everyone else with the loss of the USB tether connection to the iphone with itunes 11.1 Guess apple doesn't really test these updates in reality before they automatically update everyone. I've tried all the solutions listed with no success. Don't really care anymore, and any iphone 4(S) users i advise you not to upgrade to ios7 it will practically double all the time to open messages and run apps. Guess, it's the same old addage, 'things will only get worse, before they get better.' The only other thing I have to add is, do any apple techs actually read these posts or just have a good laugh at how messed up everyone is after their latest attempt to upgrade everyone. Surprised no techs post anything on this thread, like 'don't worry we're working on it!' I guess to them no news is good news, so they don't have to come under fire. Good luck Apple. We await your omnipotent update to appear like the soma we need to function, like our morning coffee. Yes, I guess, I've become an iphone junkie too.

I believe this problem has been around for years now. After an iTunes update it’s back to the same old same old. This old fix using “Kext Utility” worked for me on numerous occasions. You might need to reboot.

User uploaded file

The fix is to download "Kext Utility" (for ML http://cvad-mac.narod.ru/index/0-4

(also found here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ehfh235xc90v2ai/Kext_Utility.app.v2.5.1.zip)

for SL Lion and other cats do a search, I used SL one.......

and run it, and drag and drop an OLD working "AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext" file... (http://www.mediafire.com/download/44rgtt5k6ot0t72/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext.zip)

and it does its thing for a few minutes and fixes it.....

but you might want to shop around for the right AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext file that works if the above one doesnt...

I used 10.7 itunes one and it worked with itunes 11.1 and now I have USB tethering back as new....

I am not sure I am right. I have iPhone4, iPad3 and iPhone5 of my wife. Both iPhones have already upgrade to iOS7,last update this morning. And my iPad is still using iOS 5.x. I cannot using USB connect Personal Hotspot from my devices. I think it is probably involve with iTunes rather than the version of iOS. It seems the problem was occurred after I have done updating iTunes.

* I used iOS 7 beta and it's ok since I update iTunes ,then I have tried restore my iPhone to iOS 7.0.2.
** I connect iTunes from my Macbook Pro OSX 10.7.5.

*** I have try it on different of iOS.

**** I don't have issue with Personal Hotspot on WiFi but on Bluetooth,I've never used it.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks

Went to the local Apple Store with a Genius Bar appointment about this. Problem not solved.

I hope a definitive fix is fast on its way because with the extremely disappointing battery life of iOS/iPhone 5s combo, there is no way I'll do wifi tethering with my laptop. Using OSX 10.6.8, and running the latest iTunes release.

Creating a new account on the portable did nothing good. The iphone is Still not being recognized.

Looking forward to iOS 7.03...
